Hesus, it has taken me so long to understand what this shitshow is even about so here's a recap for my fellow slow brainers:

Misakishi aka the ex leader of QHQ (the 10M respect faction) and Pops aka one of the leaders of Avalon (the 6M respect faction) made a deal that they would merge the factions into the new Poseidon and Neptune, which are collectively the AQUA family, with the old leadership of QHQ stepping down and the old leadership of Avalon taking over both. So to ensure to Misakishi that the ex-Avalon leadership does not just take the two factions and run, Pops gave 250b as collateral to Misakishi to ensure that all goes like Misakishi wants with the merger. And now Misakishi (who does not have any ownership in either faction anymore??) is displeased with how AQUA has been running and says that that's basis to keep Pops' 250b

My question is why does Misakishi care so much about a faction that he is no longer owner/leadership of?

Despite being younger than 2 years old here I have already seen big changes in how I was first recommended to handle money: those being the stock market change and now flying being less profitable. I have had massive amounts of help from a friend with loans to get my bank maxed and stuff so having a mentor who is willing to back you financially and occasionally send you the edvds you get from stock blocks is awesome and I don't know if I would have sticked to it if I hadn't had such a mentor. So I guess in this sense it is a game that focuses on community building via mentoring which is nice in theory but does not always happen to newbies.

It does look like currently one of the best ways to grow as a new player would be to get in a training/warring faction to get decent war payouts but also have weeks off for training. I guess this may be the goal of all these changes to static income streams that ched's trying to achieve - more activity. So all in all it's simply a change in newbie recommendations in play styles that older players seem to just need to accept

My irl friend begged me for years to join so they'd get the merit and eventually I did. Got lots of help from the friend getting set up and once I made it to level 10 I was too hooked to stop

So true. This is like the only mechanic in this game that is plain unhealthy for real life, there should be some way to get a night of uninterrupted sleep during RWs that doesn't involve bleeding points from your beloved faction

I know it's popular right now to treat Covid like it's nothing to worry about but unfortunately the science has shown that Covid is nothing like the flu, but it's actually a cardiovascular disease that literally attacks your blood vessels, which, yknow, are everywhere in your body. That leads to even mild cases of Covid being dangerous even for people who were initially completely healthy and that includes children. Long Covid ends up as the result of at least every 1 in 10 infections and I can tell from personal experience that Long Covid sucks ass, I'm 1.5 years post infection but I still get the shakes when I work too hard, among other symptoms.

Also, what's up with the mentality that people who are already chronically ill or disabled deserve to get Covid and either die or become even more disabled by Long Covid because of it? Shouldn't all people have the right to participate in society without risking their life? Eugenicist much? The disabled community is literally a marginalised community that anyone can become a part of just from a single accident or disease so I wouldn't disregard the group like this.

Having more women on Torn would be great, I imagine that the collective shaming of harassment and general creepiness that men do around here, especially with the unrelenting unwanted messages, would finally force the creeps to stop their behaviour. Currently the general vibe seems to be that creepy sex-based messages is just a part of life as a woman on Torn and that is really just another way in which the gaming world is toxically masculine, even though harassing women should be counted as just plain weird instead of masculine. Having more women here might force the creeps into silence at least, if not to self-reflection to consider that maybe their actions are not ok

• It makes more money out of the lowbie crimes, especially with bootlegging
• Crimes 2.0 is significantly more interactive than the old crimes, you can actually use your brain instead of mindlessly clicking until your nerve runs out
• It's just more fun than the old crimes
