Having just gotten this merit myself I can say it's a huge pain in the dick. But it can be significantly less of a pain in said dick if you play in a specific way which will get you as many points per unit of time as possible (see my post below for how). The first thing you need is a partner to cheese the merit with.

The best method to quickly get score is two people on the Juan-on-Juan table taking turns folding (If Juan-on-Juan is taken then Duel at Dawn is almost as good). The small blind should immediately fold every hand, letting big blind win. Don't call, don't check, don't raise, just have small blind fold. Next round the other person will be small blind and they will fold.
Each person literally clicks once every other round. Put on Youtube, podcast, etc, and mindlessly grind your merit.
*** PROTIP: ALWAYS SELF-HOSP BEFORE LEAVING THE TABLE. Do the same when stepping away from the game as you can only "sit out" for a few mins before you're kicked off of the table which is the same as leaving. MUGGERS ARE WATCHING THE TABLES.***
Some people will tell you that checking all the way to the end, rather than taking turns folding, is a faster way to get score. This has absolutely not been my experience. Maybe with a large group checking gives enough score to make the longer hands worth it, I don't know. It's hard enough to find a single person to sit and grind so organizing a larger group would be annoying and I have not done it.
Some specifics to back up my point that folding is better than checking... I tracked 1,231 hands with one other person, checking all the way through. My avg score per hand was 2,030 points for these hands. I then tracked 2,482 hands with one other person, folding back and forth. Avg score per hand was 1,451 points. So folding gave me 71% as much score per hand as checking. Less score per hand? Why use the folding method then? The difference is that one person clicking once to fold is significantly faster than each person checking several times and watching all of the card animations. So you end up getting score much much much faster with the folding method.
Another benefit of folding, as opposed to checking, is keeping the money even. When checking one person will inevitably have better luck and end up winning more hands than the other. So you either accept the risk of losing, or trust the other person to honor an agreement for the net winner to return money to net loser when the grinding session is done. With small blind folding each round you're kept even by default.

Totally agree with Ched. I'm picturing faction chat becoming "I need the sneakers," "grabbing the sneakers," "sneakers back in the armory" all goddamn day every day. Huge pain the dick but everyone would have to do it or fall behind. And every faction will have a rule about putting the sneakers back, meaning someone will have to be in charge of yelling at anyone who forgets to return them after hitting the gym.
