I have searched why people buy items with no benefits like gold watches, etc. The only answer people seem to post is that so they can price them a little higher and upsell them. Ok, I get that of course. But what is the value in buying them at all? If people buy and then charge a little more and repeat then a saturation limit will be reached.

I am trying to learn more about how companies operate. One question that has come up to me is about companies that sell stats. Is it very common for a company that sells stats also pay their employees 0$ ?
This seems to me like the employees of that company are giving up potential training so that the director can sell stats (that the other employees do not get paid). Personally I'm not in a company to make a salary, as long as I'm getting my fair share of stat training. Or, is this really a common thing with a lot of companies and everyone just rolls with it as part of the process?

I was not really saying that I want to be in a job to make money. I was mainly trying to learn the relationship of selling stats vs paying employees vs training employees.
To me even the perks are not that big of a deal (but still nice), but the training up of my stats are what is most important to me. Since most of the trains are being sold though, it kind of seemed fishy to me. But, that's why I started this topic.. to learn more about it.
