Interesting but I doubt they would remove points in totality. Additionally, I feel that having a cap on such 'money sinks' does not work. The money would only disappear once and would likely be refilled as fast.
Not forgetting that this would only increase the gap between the strong and weak. Increasing their stats is a little bit extreme since they already have stat enhancement to do that.
The cause and effect of the strong getting stronger would just increase the skill gap.
There is an interesting approach to taking away money from the rich but they kinda need to be something that hardly affects the stats. I'm likely to view from the negative so here are some of them
Being able to purchase a 2% increase in health (maximum of 5% health) = makes them chunky and hard to kill.
Being able to purchase an increase to your nerve bar by 1 (maximum of 10 points) = just them monopolising Crimes2.0, whenever a new crime comes out they could get the item first and put it to the auction.
Extra happiness ( make this the cheapest so that the less wealthy would be able to afford it with a maximum of 5%) = While happiness hardly raises the stats earned, 5% of 5025 is 251.25. That's almost a mini-choc jump.
Passive stats ( would cap out at 3% but for an extremely expensive price tag that the ultra-wealthy would want to buy for bragging rights) = there's no bragging rights here, it them being stronger.
Of course, there are positives but I'll let someone else say that.
Taking from your approach, believe we need to have a renewable usage rather than a one-off usage, that is my opinion.
Not to be a spoil bug for just talking all negative, but being able to use the points in other ways would help.
Maybe use points for rehab
or points to play casino
or points for racing (taking part and/or competing)
There are a lot of ways we could use points but as of now, points are being stagnant in the market with little usage.
Regarding the removal of selling points to pawn shop, was the only way to use points. (Other than refill)
