i'm curious about what specific circumstances may have led people to their belief in the paranormal or otherwise unexplained by science. did you have any sort of encounter? is it simply something you've felt for as long as you remember? the result of some manner of sixth sense?
as for any skeptics who may have clicked on this thread: are there any specific things that keep you from believing? if your reasoning is simply "well, i just think it's stupid" or "we don't have enough concrete scientific evidence" i'm requesting you move on. i'm interested in an in-depth understanding of why people do or don't believe in the paranormal.
apologies for my lack of clarification. the request to move on was moreso a request that people kindly move on if the entirety of what they have to say is that they're skeptical, as a (for example) flat-out "i think believing in aliens is childish" with no further thoughts beyond that statement isn't the most conducive for discussion
tl;dr: you actually elaborated on your leaning toward skepticism rather than just stating you're a skeptic with no analysis as to why

i don't have any particularly strong belief in ghosts or the paranormal in general, but it's an area where i'm open to belief. i think the notion of ghosts doesn't necessarily have to conflict with sound science. energy and matter transfer rather than being created or destroyed, so i think it's entirely possible that energy could linger after a person's consciousness passes on. consequently, that could be why spirits are emotionally driven (no strong sense of identity remaining as the mind has passed on, but lingering emotional energies) and/or why it can be hard for those seeking the truth to get significant amounts of evidence (again: the mind being gone while only emotional energies linger, making conveying more complex thought far more difficult)
