Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, or if it has been asked before. I was wondering if it would be legal to copy-paste/write and execute JS code in the browser console to make bulk actions / edits easier for things like: - Edit my item market listings on the page I have open in front of me (still need to go page by page) - Buying X amount of something on a page in the item market (still need to go page by page) - Basically any multi-step action which requires confirmation steps, etc. (still need to initiate some action)
This line makes me think it is allowed, because I have the page loaded manually: "is allowed only if it uses data from our API or a page you (or your users) have loaded manually and are currently viewing".
But then this line makes me think it's not allowed, since code will be either pressing buttons or sending network requests which might be non-API request and while I am triggering the code, the actions are being triggered automatically via JS: "If the software you're using makes non-API requests that are not manually triggered by you, it is not allowed and can be tracked."
I looked around and could find some similar scripts, but nothing like this exactly. Since some of these things are technically benefits of the Bazaar, I feel like this might be cheating and I would like to know if this is allowed before attempting it. Thanks!
What I'm envisioning would be a single input field somewhere at the top of the UI of your market listings page. Here you type the value that you want each listing to be changed to. Then there would be a new button in each row in the market listing and pressing this button would perform all the required actions to post the update to the server.
If I look into the TornTools source code it seems to be making the non-API requests for things like item equipping without confirmation, but since each one of these requests is triggered by a manual user action I'm assuming that's okay.
Thanks for the reply! That’s unfortunate. Would it be allowed if I did not send any network requests at all but instead just queried all the dom elements and performed value changes using dom manipulation. Then the user would need to press the confirm manually to finalise each operation individually and send the actual requests. This way the non-API request is being done manually each time.
Then it will purely be using data that I am viewing on a page and the second line is no longer an issue. This would not be any different than TornTools which allows for the bypassing of confirmation of item market buy actions. I would essentially be making the “change an item market price” action into a 1 step action instead of a 3 step action, and the final non-API request is still made by the user manually.
