happy pride to you too!
the end goal that a lot of us are hoping for is that someday, the 'backlash' you're talking about won't happen at all; that someday, queer and trans kids aren't in danger the moment their bigot families find out who they are; that someday, lgbtq+ people will be protected and accepted in all countries
i live in a third-world country where we still don't have laws that prevent discrimination on the basis of your SOGIE, where we still don't have the freedom you guys have (e.g divorce, gay marriage), and i think that pride in western countries such as the US and UK also help us be more visible in our own countries.
i for one haven't seen enough of pride threads and marches, but knowing that they're out there and that people in other countries can celebrate who they are without violent backlash makes me believe that we can do it here, too
we still need pride month because right now, you can't go and say that the vast majority respect 'it' when there are dozens of countries that still criminalize homosexuality. i hope my insight as someone from another country helps!
