Hello all, I know this post will inevitably lead to my notoriety as a new possible target in the city but I've got a few questions and you have the answers.
I've played similar games to this one and I have to ask, where the f**k are your discords? I've spoken to about 15 players and 5 factions now and not a single one of you seems to use it, and as a result I see very little ways to speak to other players or factions other than forum post or direct message. Discord has always been a huge part of games like this, from my experience, and without it theres such a huge loss of efficient and easy communication that it's absence here surprises me. Unless there's a restricted channel due to levels or if there is an organized faction chat then I just don't understand how most of you operate without it.
Recruitment: Everyone and their mom recruits you the second you join games like this, here in Torn City I got 2 requests. Is this game even alive with new blood? Are factions even viing for the top? Are people only playing this with their close friends? I see the daily 45000 active players count but the game just feels like a void.
I know these aren't particularly interesting or hard hitting questions, especially since I may be missing history as a new player, but any answers are appreciated.
Interesting since I don't really remeber asking for your advice, and I made it pretty clear from your first post that your extremely generic advice doesn't apply to what I'm saying. The community not being apt to recruit, the community not being apt to use discord, are not bugs, me not finding the global chat right away is not a bug, these are possible user experience issues that would merit a general discussion not a Dev to get right on fixing the game to my liking in a bug forum posting, that would be a General discussion among the community to have something so large changed.
So if it's clearly an issue make a post and if it's not don't...instructions unclear, posted same thread twice....
What is clear is that you may not see something from the perspective of a new player and thus it may not seem like an issue to you. I'm sure you have a lot to share but what you're willing to share is either common sense or just random quotes of mine with nothing additive to say, so thanks but no thanks.
You, like many others in this thread, act as if I've done no research at all. I. Have. Played. Versions. Of. These. Games.
Yes I know there are more features that I don't have access to, please reread the original post and it'll be pretty clear what I think the issues are and then in turn from the following replies how my original thoughts adapted to new knowledge, one being the game's original start date meaning its most used methods of communication are already reliable eliminating the need or want for discord (even if I think it's better).
I see, what I mean is that it's a questions and answers post but peoples answers where things I wanted to discuss...generally, didn't feel like the wrong section but i can see my error in perspective. I'm a new player and will ultimately not have the knowledge of playing the game for years thus will ultimately navigate the game different, just trying to find my way around and point out issues I see while doing so.
You must have no idea what I'm claiming against because you're more caught up in where I posted though, if you read I'm claiming that the game should not be this quiet even if it is a text based 2023 game, I play them and they are not quiet, what are you not sure of in my claim?
Idk who Big Rich is but you're on your way to Big Ego first
It's questions and answers, I asked questions and people answered.
This is the exact issue I'm claiming against though. I play many similar games and they are quite loud so that's not a valid argument to me. Kind of trying to sus out if there even is larger community area than the forums but it seems not.

Ok thanks. It seems the stepping stairs of alliances is much wider in this game so I now can see why the larger factions aren't as apt to recruit. Why not just pull from your sub/sister aa's, makes sense.
Hey man 10 years is a lot of games, but yea i've mentioned a couple times now its probably because torn is so much older and has a a culture already built around not using Discord. Doesn't mean people couldn't start
I've done quite a lot more than others who joined the same day I did. I'm not just going to "join a decent faction" if I don't know anything though right?
Again I play many other games like this one and even the large ones recruit heavily.
Idk what an island war is so why not explain it rather than ask me why I don't know about sliced bread yet pal
Yea I agree wasting resources on a newb would suck, however I give quite generously in other games where I am leader and it has paid off quite well, you just need to know what you're doing.

My question about viing for the top is kind of a question on adaptability, how many members are people losing out on? This is by far the worst game I've played when it comes to recruitment but so far I really enjoy the game itself and the community seems nice, just a different culture use of communication here that seems a bit off the mark, maybe it has to do with its older age compared to other games.
Idk how that forum is different from this one but thanks! Again it was more about posting at all with no connections you know? Hahah
Yes I've been using Bauldr's for quite some time actually! Extremely useful material. Thanks!
