Napolean Dynamite is probably my most memorable film. I'm a big fan of comedies but I like the fact it's rough round edges and you can't guess what direction it's going.
More serious, I like Donnie Darcko, another film you have to watch a couple of times to understand but well worth the multiple run throughs

If you do it, the best way is to show the value to the company you provide, us the STAR method, it's good in interviews and in this circumstance. Situation, Task, Action and Result. It's a good way of formatting specific examples as to show your direct input and output from your role.
Even so, it depends on how the company specifically gives raises. Is it based on years in company or performance? If it's years it may be a review where they let you know you need more experience. If it's on performance, you need to be outperforming those on the team on the same wage.
If they don't give any pay rise now don't sweat, it's a good opportunity to ask them clearly: What do I need to be doing to earn more?
Once you know this it's easier to hold management to account and / or getting to that point so before your next review you can show proofs to the manager you have reached that level and can move forward.
