With the launch of the V2 Auction House API, I have created a site where you can view every weapon or armour piece ever sold on the Auction House. New sales are added daily.
There is a lot of auction data to process (almost 500k sales), and so the initial load will take a while. I'll look into optimising and adding new functionalities over time. Don't try to open this page on mobile.
In my quest of trying to figure out What The Heck Is Going On, I've created a map of Alliance-held territory/the respect it's worth, and general stats about the alliances and factions in them.
I've also tried to group factions by their faction families, although some of it was guesswork and I definitely made up some names - so let me know if any of it is wrong! Otherwise, it'll update automatically every day.
I find the wording in this message kind of telling.
The reason ovoxo wouldn't have done it is because it's a silly way to risk his account. Not because it's a shitty thing to do to someone, but just because you might get banned for doing it.
Is that the standard? Be as awful of a person as you want to be, as long as it's within the rules?
It's just a shame. Harvesting API keys for stuff like mug bots is such a dull use of time, people have done well to optimise the fun out of the game. Not to mention the proliferation of vibe-coded tools nowadays, half of which want an API key from you for "reasons" and all of which look like the absolute same shit. If a tool requires a pool of API keys to work and spread the load out, then it probably shouldn't exist.
It feels too late to put the genie back in the bottle. The API was introduced before I started playing, and this use is totally normal now. And Websockets... that's another issue entirely.
Add user/{id}/personalstats functionality to allow seeing full history of a single selection in a single API call
Why do you need this:
The ability to see changes over time/a full history of stats is useful for so many random data projects. I personally track differences between Alliances over time, and having access to historical data for new comparisons would be useful.
Consider any drawbacks of your suggestion:
Being able to get an entire history of personal stats for a user may be an expensive call - having it only work for one user and one personal stat at a time would keep it less busy. That said, this functionality is already available in Torn itself, which allows multiple users/stats at once, e.g. https://www.torn.com/personalstats.php?ID=3131483,1&stats=useractivity,elo&from=All
I am resurrecting the old Alliance Map thread (original here, hopefully for the last time since I'll bump it better) - it contains maps and general data about the factions in each alliance, updated daily. There's some grouping by faction family to better understand those as a whole.
The notable change since the last posted update is that I've added more information to try and better compare each alliance and faction. In this case, I've added a sum of the networth of all the players in each alliance (and their factions). Like the other metrics it isn't perfect (some factions enjoy plush vaults and lax bankers, some people hold money from other players all around the game, etc), but it'll hopefully give more insight into the overall landscape.
