Do Not Trust Ponzi's Flame · · 22 likes

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to put out a heads-up regarding a recent Ranked War we had with Ponzi's Flame. We were holding our own in the fight, but due to a fair bit of inactivity on our side, it became clear that we probably wouldn't be able to pull off the win. Despite that, we continued to fight and didn't back down.

As the war dragged on longer than they had anticipated, their leader reached out with an offer: we split the winnings of the war 50/50, fly back and med out to help them finish it quickly. I have screenshots of the full agreement.

We stuck to our end of the deal — flew back, medded out — and in doing so, only received 1 cache (instead of the 2 we would have gotten by default for a loss). Ponzi’s Flame ended up with 5 caches.

The moment the war ended, I reached out to discuss the agreed split. My suggestion was simple and fair: they sell their 5, we sell our 1, combine the profits, split it down the middle, and they send us the difference.

Instead, they completely went back on the deal, refusing to split the rewards and offering us a pathetic 10m in return for the meds we used medding out for their benefit.

So this is just a warning to others: do not trust any terms made by Ponzi's Flame. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re not the first faction they’ve done this to.

Screenshots are attached as proof.

This is my first time making a post like this, so bear with me if the format's a bit rough.

Bronze rated faction needs you · · 1 like

I run a faction called Candy, Xanax and Ecstasy, having recently taken over the faction, I am looking for active members to take part in organised crimes, RW's and Chains, member who want to be part of a faction that cares and pays well, not many perks yet but we will work together to grow that! clean slate almost,

We are currently loosing wars due to inactive members and low levels, being bronze rated we often get matched with factions with levels 20 to 50 roughly, Although we lost this war I put up a good fight, scoring 392 points, the highest points in the war by any member on either faction. unfortunately I was fighting the war alone, and need you to help me out. even though we lost, because of my score and because we are bronze rated, we still won a cache meaning the pay-outs per hit would have been 1.3 million!!!

So yes you can make some good money being active here. so if that sounds like you. join us now! Click https://www.torn.com/factions.php?step=profile&ID=50927#/

We’ve just come out of a war that caused far more issues than it ever should have, especially considering it was agreed as a termed loss.

To give some context, we agreed to take the loss to keep things simple and stress-free. We felt the war itself would have been fairly even, possibly winnable, but also likely to require a lot of micromanagement. So we opted for a clean, controlled war instead.

From the start, communication with their leader Habib was difficult. He came across aggressive and unnecessarily confrontational, but we still managed to agree terms:

They hit 4000

We hit 1850

Offline hits only

No turtling

Pretty straightforward.

However, early on he tried to push that they should reach 4000 before we even started hitting. This made no sense, especially as the actual war target was only 3700, meaning they would have effectively won without us needing to make a single hit.

We made it clear both sides would attack from the start, as originally agreed, and moved forward on that basis.

Things ran mostly fine initially. There were a few instances of their members travelling (not to Switzerland), which we ignored as these things happen in most wars.

The situation escalated over a single issue involving our member Ripper.

Habib asked Ripper to med out for him while Ripper was actively running a chain, which obviously wasn’t possible at that moment. This immediately became a problem for Habib.

Later, when Ripper was out of energy and able to med out, Habib was no longer available. At that point, Ripper was sitting on -8 brain and needed rehab, which he went to do.

In every war we’ve been involved in, travelling to rehab has never been considered turtling. It’s one of the few universally accepted exceptions.

Despite this, Habib began sending threats to Ripper and other members, while also claiming he was waiting for meds and refusing alternatives that were offered. Ripper even told him he would med out once back from rehab if Habib stopped with the threats and approached it properly. Instead, Habib continued escalating.

For reference, we had no issues with the rest of their faction. We got on well with their co-leader Khabib and most of their members. Meds were being exchanged both ways without issue. This entire situation stemmed from one interaction and was handled poorly from their leader’s side.

We stopped exactly at 1850 as agreed. Once they hit 4000, the war should have been effectively over. I informed our members they were free to travel again.

However, Habib instructed his faction to continue hitting beyond the agreed terms, despite already reaching their target and having more than enough to win.

At that point, yes, it likely would have made more sense to just let it end quickly. But given the behaviour and attitude throughout, and the continued threats and contradictions, we chose not to be pushed around. We resumed hitting, delayed the finish, and matched their escalation.

In short:

Terms were agreed

Terms were followed on our side

Terms were pushed and manipulated early on

Terms were ignored and exceeded later on

Communication from their leader was poor throughout

Not the kind of war experience anyone is looking for, especially when agreeing terms in good faith.

Based on this experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering warring with the JRF faction not to agree to terms.

Ranked War Matching and Ranks · · 3 likes

I like the direction this is going in overall, especially moving away from purely member-count matchmaking and towards something that actually reflects strength and performance.

The biggest positive for me is reducing the number of completely unwinnable or completely free wars. If you can genuinely get closer to that ~90% “winnable” target, that’s a big improvement on the current system.

That said, one concern is around the impact on rewards and progression. If factions are consistently fighting more evenly matched opponents, wars will naturally be harder and longer, which could reduce income and slow down growth, especially for mid-tier factions trying to build up.

Also worth noting that while the ELO-style system should self-correct over time, there’s still likely to be some short-term manipulation through performance, especially around terming. It sounds like this is partly accounted for, but it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out in practice.

Overall though, definitely a step in the right direction, just hope the balance between fairness, competitiveness, and rewards is kept in check.

You’re trying to rewrite the terms after the fact.

The screenshots clearly show the agreement was for a 50/50 split — The "participation bonus" you keep referring to didn't even exist.

As for my members:

They traveled back as soon as they could.

They stayed in Torn.

They medded out, exactly as agreed.

They did not continue to travel or self-hospitalize past the agreed timeframe as you’re now claiming.

You lose the argument when you have to resort to barefaced lying about what actually happened.

The reality is simple:

We did what we agreed to.

You got your 5 caches because of it.

Then after the fact, you moved the goalposts to avoid splitting as promised.

If you were unhappy with anything, you should have raised it before taking the rewards — not after.

Again, I’ll let the screenshots (which clearly show the true agreement) speak for themselves.

People can make up their own minds.

Do Not Trust Ponzi's Flame ·

As stated, the screenshot shows you agreed to 50/50, how exactly did we break terms, ok my guys werent as active as your guys so it took them a while to log on and travel back, but as soon as then logged on they travlled back and stayed in torn and also medded out for yoir guys. Could you please be more specific on what terms you believe we "disobeyed"

Do Not Trust Ponzi's Flame ·

True, its made me not want to set terms in the future, just long drawn out wars for a bit now

I agree, there shoild be something like a database where faction leaders can search for opposition faction to see this sort of information

SEX vs The Frogs · · 11 likes

A Great war from start to finish, Lasting 4 days and 17 hours, and our toughest fight by far. Came to a dramatic end this morning.

View Our War Report here

Both teams evenly matched for a change, although we started strong, The Frogs soon took the lead and kept hold of it for most of the war, They had 3 active heavy hitters, compared to our 1. However or OG is strong and untouchable in this war. The Frogs took good advantage of the times when OG was offline by keeping us down, We were no match for their heavy hitters and they were quick. When OG was online, they were quick to seek shelter abroad.

At times the outsmarted us, even ending our chain early whilst OG was online, we were comfortable hitting the chain and (I think it was RealAlex) managed to board a plane to Mexico, It was Myself, OG and Azzy online at the time. Azzy was hitting targets in SA, me and OG were in torn, As i could take the targets left in torn once RealAlex left to Mexico, I instructed OG to follow RealAlex to Mexico and get him there, However OG was 5 minutes behind RealAlex, he was active and flew back to Torn, still 5 minutes ahead of OG. He managed to get back to Torn and hit me before OG could get back. Azzy was in SA but out of E. OG was still on a plane, and RealAlex was waiting at the hospital exit for me! and that was the end of that chain.

They kept us behind in points for the majority of the war. leading nearly all the way through, but we were able to keep their lead to around 200 points. They had a lot of weaker members abroad, especially SA so we were able to score some points with Vortex, Wilter, Azzy and CoolJeet Rellix and Aspen travelling abroad to hit them their without being hit

I went to bed last night and handed over the reigns to OG, hoping we would be able to pull something back with him online. I woke up this morning to a real battle going on, my 4 top hitters were all online and co-ordinating attacks, We had Members in SA and UAE attacking them and members holding it down in Torn, this are most co-ordinated attack of the whole war and its normally me organising it. I was so proud of the team for getting the score down, I believe they were 170 points ahead when I woke up to an absolute fightback happening. we were soon able to get the points down, hitting abroad and in Torn. We managed to go 1 point ahead, after 4 days and i think 15 hours, there was 1 point between us! but I had plenty of E and kept on hitting them in Torn with OG and Rellix, Aspen had flown to SA and was hitting them there and Azzy was hitting them in UAE, Our score was going up and up, they We managed to get a chain started and were rolling in the points, We were even attracting attention from outside with people messaging me about our war. It was amazing, I remember by the end it was Me, Azzy, Aspen and OG online. I looked at the score, we had 186/190, 4 points to go and Aspen had a target in SA out in 30 seconds.
Aspen took that hit and finished the nearly 5 day long war.

A long, hard, tough war, that was mentally draining, long nights and early mornings, 3am alarms to take Xanax and make sure I wasn't being farmed. I think I have had less than 10 hours sleep during this war, but it was all worth it.

As you'll be able to see from our graph, It was a late comeback, and a real fighting spirit from every one of my guys that got us back in it after The Frogs had done such a great job keeping us down.

The Frogs were a credit to themselves, fought valiantly and kept us pinned down the whole way through, They were smart, they were organized, and they were strong. They'll go on to win there next war, I have no doubt,, PS LETtheBOZsOut,, I kept a Stingray just for you.!

I have to admit I was a little disappointed at the Caches' We have won 2 caches from losing before, and today we won 2 from winning, Even more gutted for The Frogs, who should have taken away 2 caches but only received one! Ched has robbed us both.

Thanks you The Frogs, I hope we get to do this again one day!
