People are quick to say that this is a poor way of storing money, but as a new player, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in. Storing 500k or so in cars has helped me quite a bit to keep my liquid money mug-free when I was doing my first flights for plushies. When you're a newbie, you have a bright target on your back, especially so when you're caught traveling.
I used to sell one or two cars per trip to have only enough in my hands for my plushies and avoid losing money to mugs. And since it was super quick to cash out, I wouldn't waste time and could hop back on a plane very quickly (resulting in more flights per day).
Sure, new players eventually grow out of the need to store cash in cars at some point. You can even say that there are more optimized strategies. But when you're starting, everything in Torn is overwhelming and complex, you don't always have a Faction or friends that you can trust, and this was a very straightforward way of keeping your first bucks safe. It helped me quite a bit in my first couple of months, I was able to find a flight routine very comfortably with it, so I'm glad that I found this guide when I started playing.
