In 1518, a town in France literally danced itself to death.
It started with one woman in Strasbourg who began dancing in the streets for no apparent reason. Within a week, dozens had joined. By the peak of this so-called "Dancing Plague," as many as 400 people were compulsively dancing—some collapsing from exhaustion, others reportedly dying from strokes and heart attacks.
Authorities at the time thought the best solution was to encourage more dancing. So they set up stages and even hired musicians. Predictably, this did not help. The outbreak lasted for months before people finally stopped (or... well... didn't make it).
To this day, historians don’t fully understand what caused it. Mass hysteria? A toxin? A curse?
Anyway, just something to think about next time you tap your foot to a catchy beat. 🎶💀
I hit and didn't get any pay. Beware.

There's a species of jellyfish that is biologically immortal. 🪼🔄
Meet Turritopsis dohrnii, the jellyfish that refuses to play by nature’s rules. Instead of dying like a normal creature, it has the ability to revert its cells back to an earlier stage of life whenever it gets injured or stressed—basically respawning indefinitely.
Imagine if humans could do that. Stub your toe? Boom, back to being 5 years old. Bad day at work? Back to kindergarten nap time.
But nope, we’re stuck aging like suckers while this little jellyfish just vibes through eternity.
Bananas are technically berries, but strawberries aren’t. 🍌🍓
Yeah, let that sink in.
Botanically speaking, a berry is a fruit that develops from a single flower with one ovary and has seeds on the inside. That means bananas, eggplants, cucumbers, and even kiwis qualify as berries. But strawberries? Nope. They don’t meet the criteria because their seeds are on the outside.
So next time you’re enjoying a “berry smoothie,” just know that it’s probably full of impostors.
Science is weird. Life is a lie. Carry on.

The future is already here — it's just not very evenly distributed. - Gibson
