Top trader. If you need a guy, this is your guy!
Generally when a website stars playing audio it makes me want to take my laptop and throw it at the wall. But there are exceptions.
I think there's a good argument for a feed-based radio player on the top menu.
It could all be done for minimal cost with only a couple of key staff. A Content Director (to source music and voiceovers), a Producer (to edit and mix the audio), and a Dev (to manage the web-app and publish feeds).
Any thoughts? Would a Radio Station enhance your game experience, or would it just be a high maintenance extra you wouldn't use?

- GOOD MUSIC: There's a lot of Torn users, and so theres bound to be a decent percentage of musicians and artists who could submit tracks. (even if there's not, there are plenty of decent license-free tracks out in the wild).
- IMMERSION: Custom commercials for stores and bazaars. Promotion spots for Calendar Events.
- NEWS: Regular live (ish) updates on trending crimes and notable achievements.
- PVP: A segment to focus on Faction ranks and activities.
- REACH: An RSS feed you can listen to when away from game. Like driving or working.

I want to learn user-scripting for Torn, and I picked for my 'hello world' project - a simple stock ticker to show where all your investments be at.
My abstract is; Pull the users investments. Look up the Company ID. Compare the bought price to the current price. Display the results nicely.
I thought it would be a lot easier. Have a couple of questions.
Any insights or advice would be much appreciated.

- How do I correlate the company ID's I get from [ https://api.torn.com/user/?selections=stocks&key=${apiKey} ] with company names?
- How does the date and time system work?
Any insights or advice would be much appreciated.
Newbie question. When you join a faction, you get a link to a 'Your Faction' forum. Can everybody access and read that, or is it only visible to members of that faction?
I'm having trouble writing a script to prompt a user for their key, validate it, and then store it as a persistant variable.
It can be achieved if the user clicks 'Always Accept' on a Tampermonkey warning screen. But that's ugly and would freak out anyone unfamiliar with userscripting.
I've used scripts in the past that have done it silently.
The only alternative I can think of is to just do a: Replace YOUR-KEY-HERE line inside the script itself. But again, that's not very friendly to anyone new to userscripting.
Can anyone help?

Thanks, Kwack. For such a simple project I'm learning a hella lot of new stuff here! I'll take look at the usage of async and await too. ?
Thank you, SwiftJustice!
There's a lot of really uselful information there. I was just using the key because it's needed to get the /user/ stock id's. And I've been playing around with divs and styling too. Making topbars and things with .innerHTML
I'll go through your examples later today. Cheers again, mate.

Yes that's likely it!
I'd been toying with the @connect after seeing a related console message but couldn't get it working. I was flailing about in all diferent directions trying to find where I was failing, and I forgot to go back to it.
I'll have a good read through the relevent Tampermonkey mans and then revisit it again. But I'm pretty sure you just hit the nail on th head, mate.
Ty ?

That's good info to have, mate. Ty :)
Thanks for the replay, mavri.
It's a test to get the mechanism in place for my code library.
My code asks for a users Limited Access key with a prompt() then sets it into a granted tampermonkey GM variable (with 4.0 and legacy compatibility).
Then it accesses a random endpoint like /user/?selections=properties and fails if it gets "code": 2,
"error": "Incorrect key", back.
This triggers the XSS warning.

Right now all sources of knowledge are very useful to me. I appreciate that.

Thank you Kobini, that's literally exactly all the information I needed! You are an absolute star.
I appreciate the links also. The API documentation seemed a little on the sparse side and I coudn't find much on Google. So that's a big bonus.
Cheers!

Good info. Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks, Ohadik. I'll just invest any overflow down at the bank instead. Until I can afford a better racket anyway.
Is there much of a market? Do people be renting? What's the threshold before it starts getting profitable?
I'm wondering if I should get the biggest place I can to earn some passive bucks. But if nobody rents below Private Island or Ranch or whatever, then that puts me out of the running. Don't want to end up with a bunch of junk properties to offload . . .
