I'm Attempted. I've enjoyed my first year of playing and decided for posterity to record a few of my milestones and memorable moments from the last 365 days in Torn. Shoutout first of all to Chedburn for being cool and giving us a game that we can enjoy and complain about.

I had to spend a few FHCs to make it to 10m stats today but I did have a goal of reaching as may awards as I could (348) without spending my entire net worth on points for the ones that can be bought.

I managed to get 9 crimes to 100 skill, 3 of them to 100 in the same minute back in February.

68 Perks.

I appreciate GassyTerps and the Hummingbirds for recruiting me as a green leaf and helping me learn some things about the game.

I appreciate Heart and WhackedMaki for being the traders that kept some of my early plushie money mug-free.

And the last shoutout is for JFK Misfits, a faction that for some reason currently has someone spam hospitalizing me, for being a great place to compete and learn for a lot of the year.

Sugarvalves let me be in the paper twice. 

I got a Cockynudist keepsake that I bought the old fashioned way because I had the worst possible timing with a flight to SA on the day the keepsakes came out.

I don't remember Easter so I must have been too bad at the game to participate last year.

Halloween was super fun, I look forward to it again.

I finished all the destination merits and 1/2 of the drug merits, just finishing PCP a couple days ago after an overdose saw me talking to some trees.

I had a lot of fun and I look forward to meeting new players and fighting new wars.

Some goals: to complete a lvl 7+ OC. 

I don't know what a reasonable goal for battle stats would be so I just hope to have stats that close to good for my age.

I hope to reach level 69.

I want my awards to reach 370+

Finally I want to get the poker merit just playing legit good ol' poker.

Imagine shitposting. 

You sit down at a keyboard like a classically trained pianist in a concert hall with 71,000 people in attendance, and you could say (or not say) pretty much anything that you would like. A concerto with words could flow from your fingers into the hearts and minds of the people of Torn. You could make a difference, like Father has done with this post, and generate a positive buzz about the virtual city, but instead, you sandbag your intellect. Why? What do you have to gain when you write about how "normal people can't digest corn but I have trained hard eating corn every day for 7 years and now I can eat corn and turn it into regular human waste." Or some such fountain of nonsense. Do you get attention? 85,000 in bounties, a couple downvotes. Is that enough of a high for you to have put the energy into your shitpost? Do you dream in the same language you OP with? 
I will give you credit though shitposters. Maybe I miss the point because I have simply not attempted my own.

I think marketing is reaching a lot of people rn. I have a few friends that I play other games with a couple nights a week. I referred them to Torn and got them to at least reach level 10 for selfish reasons. They've lost interest, but they both mentioned in the same day last week that they'd seen ads for Torn and for TornCon.

I saw this last year, but wasn't good enough at torn to know how to join yet. Hopefully I'll find a category to make a good attempt at this year.

Tampons. Hot item in the market. Hotter item in the next crime?

Economist: We are dropping point floor so we can add new sources of income to the game. 

Those first few 0 dollar payouts in JFK Misfits really were quite something.  Then, when I decided that it wasn't a good fit for me, a member of leadership started to harass me in chat and started chaining on me for like 1.4 R.

Nice.

Best is sugarvalves for helping people keep up with the times and for encouraging community participation in the paper in ways the journalists around me could take note of. I don't mean the paying for participation part, which is nice. I mean just getting quotes and participation from community members that local stories impact. Not enough of that in the print I read.

Worst for me is Rosti. Recruited me to JFK which I enjoyed. Had no issue my entire time there. When I stepped out of one JFK to join another, which didn't work out because the next one was in a war and I was stupid (didn't check). He harassed me in chat until I blocked him, then decided I was a good chaining target even though I'm not worth good R for him. 

I'm impressed by a top 10 showing in <1 year. I love leaderboards but don't imagine I'll ever reach a noteworthy torn leaderboard myself.

Every economist-driven change since I started playing has impacted me negatively. I can at least appreciate the consistency and reliability.

Good work Vy-. I'm still working out what I want my midterm goals to be but it is great to see some of the things people can accomplish through goal setting.

All my friends in high school used to play a text based fantasy game called lords of legend. I was looking for that game 15 years later (think it has been gone for a while) and remembered I also dabbled in a mafia themed game that was similar to torn back then. Don't remember the name of that game. Saw torn while I was on the search and hopped in to check it out. I've referred a few of my gaming pals and played every day since. 

I don't post in the forums a lot but I've liked the 2 factions I've been in so far a lot. Hummingbirds->jfk misfits. Enjoying torn. 5/5
