Thanks, but I didn’t ask for your advice, boy. Nor did I ask for your condescending name-calling. I’m 31, by the way. Turns out being new to a game doesn’t mean I’m new to life.

Ah yes, the classic technique of pretending you didn’t know what you obviously knew you were doing. I’ll explain it just because this is public. I know you don’t need it explained. ‘Girl’ is what a father calls his toddler daughter. In this context, you imply I’m just a foolish girl and you’re teaching me a lesson. It’s patronizing. But the thing is I’m not going to be a level 80 at 4000 whatever days you’re at. So again, your advice is not required or desired.
Coming from game communities like World of Warcraft (amazingly helpful and supportive of new players) and League of Legends (amazingly vindictive and mean players who think being a jerk makes you cool), I was super disappointed to read the comments so far and realize the community is closer to the latter. But after checking the profile of the guy that bullied a new player for no good reason, I was proud. Even if it’s a silent minority, some of you care.
The context makes it clear that it was used to imply I don’t know what I’m doing. I know text is largely up to the reader’s perspective, but context is a huge indicator and in this case, it’s a glaring, flashing sign. Maybe he’s right and I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m going to trust my faction leadership and Baldr over this jackass. And even if he is right, I’m not going to be patronized to in a damn game.

It may well be good advice. The truth is I don’t know. But if someone hands me a present and insults me, I’m not going to open the present. Honestly it’s wild to me that so many people don’t see the obvious condescension of the context he used it. I’ve assumed the wrong thing plenty of times in my life, but this isn’t one of those times.
As for toxicity rubbing on to me, that’s entirely possible. The way I see it though, supporting the bullying of a newb is toxic while insulting someone who insulted me isn’t. Maybe that’s not the case, but I’m not going to get talked down to in an online game. If he ends up getting me to quit the game, that’s better than me reverting back to a middle schooler afraid to speak my mind.

I’ve been in toxic game communities for too long to stay quiet anymore. If this ends up marking my account as a target, so be it.

The League community takes pride in being shitty people too, I get it. I get it because of the same reason my opinion on a moral issue regarding a community matters as much as yours. It’s based on life experience, not time spent on a game that has nothing to do with a philosophical viewpoint expanding beyond the mechanics of said game.

Perhaps the cheeky team put the requirements right there in your screenshot.

10.0 gym quality in each stat… or 10.0 of each stat required? Though, considering the gyms only gain progress upon training, I don’t see how one can maintain 10.0 of each stat and still unlock further gyms.
