So, I'm nominating two people. Hope that's alright. If not, suck mentos or whatever it is people say here. 😂

Number one: Elzeothis. This is a faction leader that gives so, so much of herself. It's not only about the items she helps provide for our faction, or about the immense amount of passion that she puts into her newsletters. She's just a genuinely good person inside and out. Always there with advice, a hug if you need it, and plenty of lead to spare for her foes. 

Number two: TheFelineHealer. Feline became a quick friend of mine and the dedication that he shows to the craft of reviving is a generous gift to the community at large. Always there to lend a hand not only with his reviving skill but with advice, a good laugh, or a frying pan to loan you...😂

So yeah. These people are awesome. :3

When I started playing Torn, I never thought that I would end up as a reviver. I enjoyed ranked warring! Shedding the blood of my faction's enemies was (and still is) a ton of fun, but somewhere along the line the thought of healing others started to interest me more than the usual schedule of wars and chains. 

I was sitting in my car on a crappy, stormy day while waiting for a ferry when I made the decision to leave my comfort zone, hop into a revive faction, and become a healer. I put down the dumbbells, unloaded my guns, and picked up the medical supplies instead. I had no idea if I would truly enjoy it or not. But once I dove in, I found the water irresistible. I decided on May 24th, the day that I unlocked my revive skill, that I would do (mostly) nothing else until I was a fully-fledged healer.

So started the race to revive skill 100!

I realize that I am certainly not the fastest person to get through the revive slog, but I was inspired by one of my faction mates, who managed the feat in 29 days. Being surrounded by a group of encouraging reviver faction-mates and friends gave me all the inspiration I needed.

Now for some stats!

The big dip in the graph was a chaining weekend! It cut into the race time, but considering the merits I got those days, it was worth the little delay. :3

I was hoping to get to 100 in under 2000 revives! Happy that I did, though it's possible to do it in considerably less! 

Apparently I tried to revive someone on a 1% success chance. Oops. Also, isn't it bitterly painful to fail on an over 99% chance?!

I want to end this off with a couple last tidbits of data, as well as a huge thank you to the Torn community for all your messages! It does my heart good to see that my work is appreciated.

I devoted pretty much all of my energy last June towards reviving in TTT, and finished in 8th. It was the perfect way to level my revive skill while competing, but this year I just couldn't bring myself to do it again. Sickness, mental health stuff, blah blah. 

It was fun, no doubt, but seeing how many revives people did this year, no way I would have hit even 10th this year.

Good luck on your retirement from Torn! Sometimes I wonder how long I'll make it before I decide my time is done, but for now I'm happy just reviving people and making friends! I wish you luck on whatever game you sink your time into next! 

My new year's resolution (for Torn) is to buy my own PI, finish my cars for racing, and make more Torn friends! ♥

I don't think "your people" felt the same way.

Sometimes it really isn't worth pushing past the game and using IRL circumstances to target people. Consider your extended hospital visit a lesson in humility and compassion.

TornPDA is the app I use for Torn while on mobile, and while I find I'm a little clunkier playing on it compared to PC, I find it a great alternative to desktop when I'm away from home or just curled up on the couch.

Though if you feel you guys are using smartphones too much now, having quick and easy access to Torn might not help you in that regard.

Best of luck either way! Back to the doom slab... 😂

Pros:

• Easy, convenient access to Torn while on the go
• Script injection without needing another service like Tampermonkey
• Can get notifications on your phone for your cooldowns
• Basically a pocket version of desktop Torn

Cons:

• Requires a doom slab Smartphone
• Can crash/lag depending on scripts used
• Allows for the concept of "setting alarms for 3am Xanax"

Honestly, I find my Torn experience is definitely shaped by the people I interact with. Yeah, some people are total assholes, and whether that's the character they're roleplaying or their IRL sentiments, I just do my best to avoid them.

Torn is what you make of it. You can be a total dick to people and still have a ball. Others will find their joy in helping others (like I do as a reviver), and making those friendly connections is what keeps me playing for the most part. 

Like anything, moderation should be key. I do play Torn a lot in my off time, but I don't spend that time being toxic or aiming to hurt other people (except with in-game mechanics like attacks, ofc.)

Check in on your friends, ask how they're doing. Tell them you love them! Honestly, the world can be such a dark place and men are far more likely to bottle their emotions until it is far too late. It's okay to talk about your feelings. It's okay to cry when you need to, you're not weak for doing so.

"Movember" is another wonderful initiative for men's mental health, look into it if you enjoy your facial hair and want to support a good cause ❤️
