City page loading slowly · · 0 likes

Device: {Will send in DM} Android: 14 App version: 2.1.5

Here is another problem that I've been having since Friday, 04/10/2024:

Whenever I want to go to the City Map, it takes extremely long to load and displays a blank screen for up to 3 minutes with the progress bar stuck at a certain point.

Screenshot:

Note:

  • All other pages load perfectly.
  • This only started happening on Friday.
  • I'm using DuckDuckGo's tracking protection, which is for all intents and purposes, a VPN.
  • The progress bar gets stuck at the same point every time.
  • I have checked the 'Not a bug' section for a possible resolution.

I have tried:

  1. Switching to another page (all loading normally) then back to City (loads slowly again).
  2. Clearing cache from within the torn app settings.
  3. Clearing cache and data in Android settings, then logging back in on the TORN browser.
  4. Logging in to TORN on DuckDuckGo, which is a privacy browser and similar to Chrome's incognito mode.
  5. Switched between pages in DuckDuckGo like in step 1. Same problem.
  6. Restarting the phone.
  7. Performed a broadband speed test (attached below).

Result:

The problem persists after the above actions - only the City page loads slowly.

Hopefully you can deal with this better than you did with the previous bug report I submitted!

This may be a small issue, but it's very annoying when an object in the screen is overlapping another one or covering up information that you really want to see. The page cannot be scrolled past the three buttons in the bottom right corner and on the next screenshot the toast message that pops up does not good away.

Forever single · · 2 likes

I've read your stories above and I can relate.

I've been single for 18 years now and the longer I'm single the more I enjoy it. The absolute freedom of doing what I want; coming and going, the money that I earn with my business is my own and I can spend it wherever I want; even here on TORN if I feel like buying a few donator packs!

My fiance 18 years ago tried to seduce my own father while she was pregnant with my child. When I found out about this I chased her away because she was living with me. I sent her back to her mother and she tried to commit suicide which was unsuccessful, and I still refused to take her back. So she decided to spite me and go for an abortion. That hurt me a lot because we already knew that she was expecting a girl and I was very much looking forward to meeting my daughter.

Besides my own experience, all three of my siblings had been married and divorced. Divorce is one hell of a mess!

So for me the single life is fantastic! I do business during the day and come home at night to play games or watch movies and maybe have a few beers.

Luckily this doesn't cost anything.

Oh, here's another one that might be relevant to a lot of players here:

The Overly Honest Obituary

A man's obituary read: "John Smith, 45, died unexpectedly, but honestly, it was probably from years of eating Cheetos and playing TORN in his basement."

City page loading slowly ·

You are trying to reproduce the problem on a laptop or PC though. That just doesn't make sense from any IT point of view.

If you consist of test devices (which you should) I will strongly suggest you try to reproduce the problem on a device with similar specifications as that of my own.

What's confusing is that the city page is the only one that's loading this slow. So I can only imagine that perhaps it has some kind of script that the others may not have, because the rest of the game loads smoothly.

City page loading slowly ·

We must have some kind of misunderstanding here...

The moment I tap on [City] in the ribbon at the top of the screen, is when I'm getting the problem!

I've never even SEEN the page being displayed in your screenshot above!

{Edit} THIS IS the page I'm trying to get to:

(Just took exactly 22 seconds to load just now so I could take the screenshot)

Okay so for anybody that may be having the same problem, here is the {very simple} solution:

Go to your TORN mobile settings (bottom right corner of your screen), where you will find a zoom setting. If you're having objects overlapping on your screen, try reducing the zoom level and voila! The overlapping goes away.

Sadly, I did not find the solution with the help of TORN admin staff but rather by a suggestion from a friend on Facebook.

I only just see this response now due to another issue and I was referred back to this post by a staff member. Hence the edit to remove the name and model of the device I'm using.

Please refrain from asking questions about personal information in a public forum. This kind of communication should be conducted privately.

Now with regards to the problem of overlapping; I have encountered the same problem running TORN in DuckDuckGo, which in itself is an incognito browser (supposed to be).

How do I know when someone has responded here? I didn't get any notification in the app of the above response 6 days ago.
