In light of the new crime, and Mr. Soyburger's recent message, I have finally gathered the courage to make a message as well. In a way, it is a response to Mr. Soyburger and anyone else who may feel a bit downtrodden by the burning of the churches in the video game.
I too could not help but feel deeply saddened by the church arson, as well as by some of the responses to doing so. But it was strange. While I always felt a bit perturbed by some of the other crimes, why did I feel more disheartened with this particular crime? Maybe because it was an offense against a very specific group of people? It didn't feel as general to me? Or maybe because of my affiliation to the church that made it feel more direct? I am not quite sure. However, I always believe that perspective is most important in cases such as these, an idea that seems simple but is much harder in practice.

When my brother first introduced me to the video game, Torn City, he conveniently forgot to warn me of some things. He said that I would enjoy the slower pace and that I didn't need to do the crimes or attacking. And I did enjoy it! I played for quite a while before learning that there was a place called "New Player Chat". My goodness! I was so taken aback by some of the messages that I needed to take a break! I felt as if I needed to scold some of the ruffians! Fortunately, I was far too cowardly to speak in the New Player Chat.
As time went on, I began to realize much of the misunderstanding was born out of a vast difference in perspective. While a curse word to me was something I rarely ever heard, to others it may have been natural and not as offensive. It was common. Understanding this, I started to accept both the nature of the video game and manners of speech, while keeping true to my own values and not partaking.

I believe the latest strife is due to this difficulty in understanding each others' perspectives. The recent happenings in the real world have been quite trying. I am not very privy to all events, but we had recently said many rosaries for those Christians being martyred in Syria and other parts of the world. Many of these events and general negativity toward the faith build upon one another and form this particular view. Some were speaking of portrayals of the faithful in media, but I do not watch movies, so I am unsure of how we are represented. Regardless, when the new crime was introduced, it may have felt like another harsh blow.
This is, however, only my, or rather one perspective. Just as I have come to learn during my time here in Torn City, we must understand that others come from a very different perspective. Those who are not connected with the church and who, in turn, are just naturally not as sensitive to such things, will not view it as another lashing after many. It is simply one amongst the many crimes that occur in Torn City, something inherent to such a humorously nihilistic-feeling game. I do not believe that Mr. Bogie or the other creators (apologies, I only know of Mr. Bogie) truly dislike me or my faith, just as I do not believe most of the "criminals" here would truly burn down churches. I have met many wonderful and fun individuals here and I am sure to meet many more!

And it may not be farfetched to say that there is a bit more negativity toward Christianity at times. It does seem like it is often the focus of some dark humor or mocked lightly. When I encounter such things in the Global Chat or elsewhere, I do find it uncomfortable, but I do not take it personally and try my best to avoid it. I believe that arguing or lashing out does nothing but cause more discourse especially amongst individuals who are filled with the fires of emotion. Our Lord would not want this, and ultimately desires souls to be closer to Him. Such things, I do not believe, do anything to aid in this motive. Instead, I believe it best to lead through example! Maybe send a medical kit to someone who is in need, or give advice to a struggling player. Many come and play the video game with intentions of having fun and good deeds can always be appreciated! And maybe it isn't so bad being the focus of some dark jokes. My father always says that the soul who can take a joke is humble!

In the end, I cannot help but feel a bit saddened. I am only human after all. But I smile when I imagine that all of the friends I have made here would most certainly aid me if my convent were to catch fire, regardless of belief.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read such a long message, goodness!
That does not mean I shall not fight fire with water though! Mr. Waxilium!!! I may have failed at comprehending your previous message, and possibly a few math classes along the way...

...but you have failed to understand that God has granted more than just physical gifts! Years of devotion have led me to develop the power of determination! And as of right now...

I am most determined.
P.S. Thank you, brother, for helping me with how to do it!

Do not worry! I am putting out the fires after!

I apologize it took some time. I was quite busy in the real life. Here is a bunny eating a carrot!

Here is one I made for the arsons! I was reviving others in the beginning because so many were in the hospital haha! I was hoping it would be in the newspaper.
