✅ THE "DON'T WASTE A DAY" TORN CHECKLIST [2026]

Energy, Nerve, Money & Progress

There are already some massive beginner guides on Torn, so this isn't meant to explain every button in the game.

Instead, this is a daily efficiency guide.

The idea is simple:

Log in, check these things, and stop accidentally wasting hours or days of progress.

Whether you're level 15, level 50 or just starting to take Torn seriously, most long-term progress comes from doing the small things consistently.

🟢 1. NEVER LET YOUR ENERGY SIT FULL

This is probably one of the easiest ways to waste progress.

Normal energy regenerates automatically.

Donator/subscriber:
150 maximum energy
+5 energy every 10 minutes

Without Donator:
100 maximum energy
+5 energy every 15 minutes

That means your natural energy bar completely regenerates every five hours.

If you're sitting at maximum energy for three hours, that's three hours of potential energy you've simply thrown away.

What should you spend it on?

For most players concentrating on long-term growth:

GYM > letting it sit there doing nothing

Obviously there are exceptions:

• Ranked War
• Faction chains
• Missions
• Reviving
• Events
• Happy jumps
• Other planned strategies

The important thing isn't that every point of energy must go into the gym.

It's that your energy should have a purpose.

💊 2. UNDERSTAND XANAX BEFORE YOU JUST EAT THEM

Xanax gives:

+250 Energy
+75 Happiness

It also gives addiction, has a drug cooldown and carries an overdose risk.

The standard Xanax drug cooldown is approximately 360-480 minutes.

This is why players who are serious about battle-stat growth often build their routine around their drug cooldown.

But don't blindly copy someone telling you:

"Take X Xanax every day."

Your strategy depends on:

• Your budget
• Your faction
• Your stats
• Whether you're chaining or warring
• Your addiction
• Your education
• Whether you're doing jumps

The lesson is:

Make your drug cooldown work for you rather than randomly taking drugs whenever you remember.

⚡ 3. THE DAILY ENERGY REFILL

The Points Building lets you refill your energy bar for:

30 Points

You can do this once per Torn day.

It resets at 00:00 TCT.

Important:

A refill fills your normal energy bar.

So don't do something silly like refill while your bar is already almost full.

Spend your existing energy first.

Is an energy refill always worth using?

Not necessarily.

Ask yourself:

"Is the energy I'm getting worth more to my account than the 30 points?"

If you're actively training, chaining, warring or pushing an event, the answer may easily be yes.

If money is extremely tight, think before automatically pressing the button every day.

🟠 4. STOP WASTING NERVE

Nerve regenerates at:

1 Nerve every 5 minutes

until you hit your maximum nerve bar.

If you're sitting at full nerve all day, you're wasting potential crime experience.

And this matters.

Your Natural Nerve Bar (NNB) grows as your crime experience increases.

So don't just think:

"Crimes don't make much money."

You're also developing your account.

Crime experience contributes towards increasing your natural nerve bar over time.

Simple rule:

See full nerve? Spend it.

🧠 5. THE DAILY NERVE REFILL EXISTS TOO

This catches some players out.

You can also refill your nerve bar for:

30 Points

once per day.

But don't assume this means everyone should buy one every day.

The value depends on:

• Your nerve bar size
• What crimes you're doing
• Your Crime Skill
• Your financial situation
• Current point value
• Your goals

A player with a large nerve bar pushing crime progression gets considerably more out of a refill than someone with a tiny nerve bar who is short on cash.

🍺 6. YOUR BOOSTER COOLDOWN IS A RESOURCE

People concentrate on Energy and Nerve but forget cooldowns themselves have value.

Examples:

Candy: adds 30 minutes
Alcohol: adds 1 hour
Energy Drinks: add 2 hours

The normal maximum booster cooldown is 24 hours, although perks can change this.

So don't randomly fill your booster cooldown and then realise you wanted to use something much more useful.

Before consuming boosters, ask:

"What am I saving my booster cooldown for today?"

Crime progression?

Energy?

Happy?

An event?

A war?

Use it deliberately.

🎓 7. ALWAYS HAVE AN EDUCATION RUNNING

Education is one of the biggest passive progression systems in Torn.

Courses can provide things including:

• Gym gain improvements
• Battle-stat bonuses
• Crime success benefits
• Working stats
• Weapon abilities
• Busting benefits
• New crime unlocks
• New locations
• Merits and awards

The mistake isn't choosing a course that isn't perfectly optimal.

The bigger mistake is:

FINISHING A COURSE AND THEN SPENDING THREE WEEKS ENROLLED IN NOTHING.

If you don't know what to study next, research it.

But get something running.

🎯 8. DON'T LET DUKE CONTRACTS PILE UP

You receive a new Duke contract each day.

Normally you can hold a maximum of 3 contracts.

Players in a 3★+ Logistics Management company can hold up to 5.

If you're constantly sitting at your maximum, you're potentially missing future contracts.

Why care?

Mission Credits.

Mission credits can buy useful rewards and, importantly, Books can appear in the Mission Shop.

You don't need to complete every ridiculous contract immediately.

Just don't completely forget that the system exists.

📚 9. CHECK YOUR MISSION SHOP BEFORE WASTING CREDITS

Don't spend Mission Credits simply because you have them.

Books can appear in your Mission Shop.

Some books provide extremely unusual temporary or permanent advantages.

So if you're approaching something expensive that you don't desperately need:

Think before pressing BUY.

Mission Credits can take considerably longer to replace than ordinary Torn cash.

✈️ 10. MAKE YOUR OFFLINE TIME WORK FOR YOU

Once you reach Level 15, international travel becomes available.

Foreign destinations sell items unavailable from normal Torn City stores.

This means travel can turn time when you're:

• At work
• Sleeping
• Watching TV
• Busy in real life

into potentially productive Torn time.

The important part is working out:

PROFIT PER HOUR

not simply:

PROFIT PER ITEM

A fantastic profit on one item isn't necessarily fantastic if the round trip takes forever.

Factor in:

• Flight time
• Item capacity
• Purchase price
• Current market value
• Stock availability
• Your airstrip/travel perks

Markets move, so check current prices rather than following a five-year-old "best item to fly" list.

⚠️ 11. IMPORTANT 2026 TRAVEL CHANGE

As of 23 June 2026, weapons and armour are currently not taken with you on flights leaving Torn.

You don't need to manually unequip them.

They simply don't accompany you while travelling under the current system.

This is worth knowing because older guides may give completely different advice.

🧸 12. DON'T IGNORE PLUSHIES AND FLOWERS

If you've completed the History Studies Bachelor's, you unlock the Museum.

A complete:

Plushie Set = 10 Points

Exotic Flower Set = 10 Points

when exchanged at the Museum.

This doesn't mean you should automatically exchange every set.

Always compare:

Value if sold individually

vs

Value of the resulting points

But if you're travelling regularly, understanding sets gives you another way to calculate what foreign items are actually worth to you.

📈 13. COLLECT YOUR STOCK BENEFITS

If you own benefit-paying stocks, don't just forget about them.

This is particularly important because available stock benefits generally need to be claimed before progress towards the next one continues.

There can effectively be a 24-hour collection window before you start losing progression time.

That's a painful thing to lose because you forgot to press a button.

See dividend available?

Collect it.

🏦 14. DON'T LET CASH JUST SIT AROUND WITHOUT A PLAN

This doesn't mean invest every dollar.

You need accessible cash for things such as:

• Xanax
• Points
• Travel
• Weapons/armour
• Faction requirements
• Events
• Trading opportunities

But ask yourself:

"Why is this money sitting here?"

Your Torn money should generally be doing one of three things:

Making money

Developing your account

or

Waiting for a specific planned purchase

Randomly carrying huge amounts of cash for no reason doesn't help you progress.

🏋️ 15. HAPPINESS MATTERS WHEN TRAINING

Your happiness isn't merely decoration.

Training battle stats consumes happiness, and happiness affects gym training.

The Torn Wiki currently states that each battle-stat train removes happiness equal to roughly 40-60% of the energy used.

This is why property, candy, Erotic DVDs, jumps and other happiness strategies matter.

As your stats become larger the optimal strategy changes, so don't blindly use an early-game happy-jump strategy forever.

⏰ 16. LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TORN TIME AND YOUR TIME

Many Torn mechanics revolve around TCT.

For example, daily Points Building refills reset at:

00:00 TCT

If you're planning:

• Refills
• Chains
• Wars
• Events
• Missions
• Cooldowns

get used to checking TCT.

It avoids a lot of:

"I thought the reset was tomorrow!"

moments.

🚨 17. THE BIGGEST DAILY MISTAKES

If you're doing any of these regularly, fix them:

❌ Sitting on full energy for hours

❌ Sitting on full nerve

❌ Refilling before spending your existing bar

❌ Using boosters with no plan

❌ Forgetting about your drug cooldown

❌ Finishing education and forgetting to enrol again

❌ Leaving your Duke contracts permanently full

❌ Spending every Mission Credit immediately

❌ Forgetting available stock benefits

❌ Flying somewhere without checking current item prices

❌ Following ancient forum guides without checking whether mechanics have changed

❌ Hoarding money without knowing what you're saving for

None of these will destroy your account overnight.

That's why they're dangerous.

You lose a little progress today.

A little tomorrow.

Then six months later another player your age has dramatically overtaken you.

✅ THE 60-SECOND LOGIN CHECKLIST

Every time you properly log in, check:

🟢 ENERGY

Full or nearly full?

Spend it.

🟠 NERVE

Full?

Crime.

💊 DRUG COOLDOWN

Ready?

Decide whether you're using it.

🍺 BOOSTER COOLDOWN

Available?

Use it according to your current goal.

🎓 EDUCATION

Course active?

Good.

🎯 MISSIONS

Contracts piling up?

Check them.

📈 STOCKS

Benefit waiting?

Collect it.

✈️ TRAVEL

Going offline for a while?

Consider flying.

🏦 MONEY

Is your cash actually doing anything useful?

⚔️ FACTION

War, chain, OC or instructions you need to know about?

Check before dumping resources.

🧠 FINAL RULE

Torn rewards patience.

But it rewards efficient patience much more.

You don't need to play 12 hours a day.

You don't need billions.

And you don't need to understand every mechanic immediately.

You mainly need to stop wasting the resources the game gives you for free.

Energy.

Nerve.

Cooldowns.

Time.

Get those four right consistently and your account will look completely different a year from now.

If I've missed a useful daily check, or if a mechanic changes after this guide was written, drop it below and I'll add it.
