The Neon Lotus
The Neon Lotus is an in-character roleplaying forum thread. Feel free to post out-of-character things in quotes like these. Otherwise, what is posted should be as the character you play in Torn! The premise is for anyone living in an apartment to simply roleplay that apartment as The Neon Lotus complex. We all live here and come and go as we wish. Below I'll detail a few of the shared spaces of the Lotus, but you can also roleplay in your own apartment as well.
The Lobby
The Lobby is obviously on the ground floor of the high rise. There's a front desk with a clerk most hours of the day (it's a low pay, low opportunity job so don't expect much from the ones who sit behind the desk and scroll on their phone with earbuds in). Dealers of various illicit items can be found mostly at night, but they're in and out quick. Music is usually playing from the overhead speakers, but the desk clerk probably set it to something you're not into. A TV scrolls through the news of the city and it's typically muted. There is a coffee pot on a table below the TV, but no one knows who made the last pot...or how long ago. Despite its seedy veneer, The Lotus lobby is a rather cozy spot to kick back and socialize with other tenants and visitors. Several colorful plush couches and chairs adorn the large space, and the clerks don't usually mind if someone changes the tunes or brings in their own refreshments...so long as things don't get too rowdy.
The Business Center
The Business Center is your wifi hotspot! The Lotus provides all its tenants and guests with free wifi and a place to handle any sort of business you may need. Several more couches and desks fill this small room that's secluded from the noise of the lobby on the first floor. A frosted glass door separates the center from the hallway not far from the main elevator. There are even a few retro arcade games stuck in here!!
The Laundry
Pretty self-explanatory here. Down the opposite hallway from the Business Center lies a large laundromat for all the tenants who haven't opted to buy their own machines (I mean the apartments aren't that huge anyways). Somebody must've hacked these things and noone's bothered to fix them because everyone seems to just do their laundry for free...or maybe it's just included in the Apartment upkeep fees.
The Apothic Speakeasy
Other than old storage and clutter, the only thing in the basement of The Neon Lotus is a hip (at least in their own eyes) speakeasy. Tenants can access the basement elevator with their room keys, and anyone else who has heard the gossip may be able to find the entrance from the drug store attached to the apartment complex through a secret back door. The back door connects to the basement of The Lotus down some stairs and this entry has been operational for several decades. The Apothic changes its atmosphere nightly depending to the clientele it keeps. It's usually smoky, dark and lit up with black lights and derelict neon signs from other failed businesses of Torn. The Apothic can host only about twenty patrons before they lock the doors for the night, and no one tells tales of what happens down in that basement.
This is just a little test run at roleplay here in Torn for me, and I'm hopeful to have others join in, so have fun! Maybe this turns into a thing and maybe not...we shall see! If you live in an apartment in Torn, why not let it be The Neon Lotus? It's where all the sexiest criminals live!!

He'd had another name once upon a time, but that had never served a good purpose. Something notorious, memorable, and... untraceable. That's what he'd decided on several years ago, and when he moved to Torn City the moniker just fit so well. Bedlymn lets out a sigh as he strolls back into The Lobby. The Lotus was definitely an upgrade from the shack he first found and thanks to some gracious folks he'd met early on here, he was able to rent out the flat on the dreaded 13th floor. Yeah, most places don't even label a 13th floor, but that's part of what he loved about The Neon Lotus. He liked that whoever owned the joint wouldn't shy away from something like that. I mean, there's always a 13th floor anyway and Bedlymn felt it pretty silly to act like there wasn't. Hell, he even took Room 1313 just for kicks. Who knows? Something as simple as that may keep unwanted visitors away anyhow.
The casino had been hell tonight and he'd blown a decent wad of cash fiddling around with Keno. He chuckles to himself as he plops down on one of the soft couches in the lobby and listens to some techno remake of a Leonard Cohen song. It's not that bad really. Odd pairing of genres, but he could dig it. He sinks down in the plush sofa and lets his bones relax for a while. His thoughts are turned to how he may be able to make his next buck. After all, that casino was a means to an end. He may still try to figure out how to rob them blind if he can ever get his skills up to par. For now he supposes it's digging in the trash and dealing poker hands. What a damn life, right? The possibilities were wide open here in Torn though...or so he'd heard.
