WORKSHOPS NOW LAUNCHED!

If you've been thinking about learning GFX then now is the best possible time to start. At the GFX Lounge we've just launched our new workshop series where we'll be running through all the fundamental aspects of creating GFX.

Some of the topics we'll be covering are: 

• Lighting • Composition • Colour • Creating Depth • Typography • Photoshop Tools • Textures + Effects • and much more!

For those who already know their way around making GFX there will also be more advanced workshops running following the 101 series.

WHAT ARE THE WORKSHOPS?

Our workshops are live sessions held within the GFX Lounge discord server that are designed to help everyone improve their GFX skills through live demonstrations, discussion, and feedback.

Every workshop includes a PDF overview and a Base PSD, giving you an idea of the techniques and concepts that will be covered before you sign up. During the live session, the instructor will briefly walk through the PDF before moving into a live demonstration, showing their workflow, explaining as they go and answering questions along the way.

If you can't attend live, or you'd like to revisit parts of the workshop afterwards, a recording will be available for you to watch at your own pace.

WHO CAN JOIN?

 The GFX Lounge workshops take a lot of time and effort for each instructor to run and are completely free and open to anyone willing to learn. All we ask is that you make a genuine effort to get involved in the server and respect that the resources for these workshops have been given for learning purposes only.

You do not need any prior experience or to have Photoshop to be able to follow along with these as we can recommend free alternatives in place of this if needed. All of the workshops are recorded and posted within the discord so don't worry if you're joining after a workshop has already taken place - it's still there for you to learn from!

 We're passionate about creating GFX without the use of AI so please only join if you are willing to respect our rules surrounding no AI useage.

No PC? No problem! We have members who only create GFX from their mobile - the workshops still apply, even if you can't follow on exactly the fundamentals remain the same.

I'm not the owner of the server so it wouldn't be my decision about AI users anyway, but just so people are aware anyone who wants to learn GFX without the use of AI is completely welcome to join. We have even started a workshop series to help those people get to grips with creating things themselves. No community is more supportive than the Lounge is for people who want to learn, regardless of skill levels. 

I even started with a similar backstory to this guy, had one person bounty me 300+ times because I used AI to make renders of pokemon trainers for cards i was selling. I also had the mindset of 'the hub (lounges predecessor) are a bad circle of people' and so i didn't join, felt like an outsider and joined the AI art server instead, where I was also encouraged by a mod (which the owner of that server has told me was the case) to effectively keep arguing with the hub members because they disliked them and their views on AI but would rather let a newbie do their arguing for them. Eventually I joined the hub and 'proved myself' or whatever to people in there by making decent pieces and improving over time, those same people who I had originally thought were awful are now some of my closest friends. 

Some semblance of peace was made between GFX and AI for quite some time when even the owner of the AI server began creating without the use of AI and the Lounge was born out of the Hub - providing a fair and open space for anyone who wanted to create GFX and getting rid of that stigma of being 'gatekeepers'.

I personally never had a bad word to say about the owner of the AI server, or the majority of AI users who were in the previous AI server. Yet after I became active in the GFX server, the mod of the AI server said behind my back that I was 'not to be trusted' like I'm running some sort of undercover op or something insane, when the reality is anyone in the GFX Lounge just wants to make GFX and does not care about the existence of AI artists unless like in this case they have a shit attitude and/or steal. 

Yes, there will always be people who will give someone some flack when opening up an AI thread, but that behaviour is actually discouraged in the GFX Lounge, it's not part of a program to take down AI art, we didn't even know their anti-gfx server existed (which co-incidentally is ran by the same AI mod who seems to feed off this drama between the two groups) until this player appeared.

Ahmad was invited to learn, he then made it clear he didn't want to not use AI, that's something we don't support within the server, I even reached out directly after he was removed and was met with a shitty response. He can claim i'm a bully but I'm certain everyone already knows the reality of what happened here (including the people that are supporting him without doing so publicly) - shit attitude, stolen work + repetitive threads like this one has caused far more than the community inside the GFX lounge to dislike this person.

I didn't bounty you for making AI, I bountied you after you talked a bunch of shit. I spoke a few times on your thread before you dug yourself a massive hole and blamed everyone around you for the outcome of your own actions. 

What others am I interfering with? Find one other person i've bountied.

Also, there's a whole sticky thread giving actual advice for new players - which does advise against just wacking a couple lines in chatgpt and charging a small fortune for it.

It's easier to order multiples than placing 10 at a time myself - it's not some secretive hidden thing. You stole my work, what did you expect to happen? lmao.

Also artists buying from other artists isn't a conspiracy either, we all like to collect real art as well as making it. The majority of GFX artists are inside the server because it's the only GFX server worth being in for anyone who doesn't just spam out AI and cosplay as a graphic designer.
