Weekly Torn News: Edition #1

Bringing You the Unbelievable, the Hilarious, and the Absolutely Torn-tastic!

ALIEN INVASION IN TORN CITY – THEY WANT OUR FISHING SPOTS!

Eyewitness reports flooded the forums this week as Torn residents claimed to see glowing UFOs hovering over the city’s harbor. Fisherman420, a longtime dock denizen, swore he saw a green, slimy alien stealing his prized tuna right off the line!

“They didn’t even pay docking fees!” he fumed, shaking his tackle box. Authorities have not confirmed the reports but advised residents to “keep an eye on their rods.” Could Torn City be a new galactic fishing hotspot? Or is this the work of rival faction Galactic Squids?

Stay tuned for updates... or probe marks. 👽

SECRET TO TORN RICHES: MYSTERIOUS NPC HANDS OUT BILLIONS

Word on the streets is that an unknown NPC named “Granny Megabucks” has been randomly distributing billions of Torn Dollars to lucky players who engage in suspiciously mundane activities.

“I was just mugging someone, minding my own business, when she showed up and gave me $3 billion!” said KingOfMugs. “She smelled like cookies and cigars.”

Granny Megabucks was last seen at the West Side gym, where she reportedly muttered, “Only the strong survive, but the lucky thrive.” Is she a benevolent benefactor, or a secret test by the admins to monitor greed levels? Only time will tell.

FACTION WARS UPDATE: CHIHUAHUA GANG DECLARES WAR ON MEGA BEARS

The Torn forums erupted in disbelief as The Chihuahua Syndicate officially declared war on Mega Bears United. Armed with nothing but bite-sized ambition, the Chihuahuas promised to “chew through the ankles” of the towering Mega Bears.

Spokesdog BarkyBoy issued a bold statement:
“We might be small, but we’re ferocious! Fear the bark!”

The Mega Bears, unfazed, responded by releasing footage of their newest faction member, Bearzoid the Mauler, bench-pressing tanks. Let’s see if these underdogs—or under-Chihuahuas—can claw out a victory.

BATTLESTATS SCANDAL: IS “MR. SWOLE” JUICING?

Controversy shook the Torn gym scene this week as whispers spread about Mr. Swole, the gym’s most intimidating presence. After setting a new bench-press record of 10,000 lbs (while eating a burrito), some players are accusing him of using stat-boosting “supplements.”

“He’s clearly on Energy Cans!” said an anonymous source. “No one gets that strong just eating Torn Burritos.”

Mr. Swole denies all allegations, claiming his secret lies in “hard work, good macros, and seven refills a day.” Admins are investigating whether the burrito was, in fact, performance-enhancing.

  • Capricorn: Stop mugging level 5s. Karma is watching.

Where the Strange Gets Stranger, and the Rich Get… Grannier?

BAT BOY SPOTTED IN TORN CITY?

Residents of Torn are in a frenzy after a series of late-night sightings suggest a new cryptid has emerged in our fair city. Dubbed “Bat Boy” by witnesses (in true Weekly Torn News tradition), this creature is said to have pointed ears, fang-like teeth, and a disturbingly adorable face.

Witness Statement: “I was rummaging through a dumpster behind the Pawn Shop when I saw this little bat-eared kid perched on a fire escape. He hissed at me, then flew off, dropping what looked like a half-eaten burrito!” – Anonymous Trash Diver

EXCLUSIVE “GRAINY” SIGHTING PHOTO

(See below for our artistically blurry image!)

We’ve managed to obtain a blurry, low-resolution photo snapped by a shaky-handed eyewitness. The photo shows a small, winged figure with enormous eyes perched on a ledge. Is this the real deal, or a cleverly staged NPC? You be the judge!

GRANNY BIG BUCKS: NEW SIGHTING REPORTED!

Just when we thought she’d gone underground, Granny Big Bucks has reappeared—this time at the Torn Public Library!

According to the head librarian, Ms. Dustyshelves, Granny was spotted sneaking in after closing and stuffing wads of cash between the pages of old, rarely borrowed books. When confronted, she simply winked and whispered, “Reading is fundamental… to fortune.”

Rumor has it she left behind a cryptic note that read:

“He who seeks knowledge shall find more than dusty pages.”

Could this be a clue to her whereabouts, or just another one of her philanthropic pranks? Torn’s treasure hunters are already tearing through the library, hoping to find hidden billions tucked away in a dictionary or behind an outdated atlas.

FACTION WARS: VIGILANTE BATTLE ROYALE

Torn’s faction scene has been heating up with vigilante-style squads popping up everywhere, each one claiming to be the city’s “true hero.”

  • The Swole Crusaders: Dressed in full spandex and capes, they run around the Gym District chanting, “No Gains, No Glory!”
  • The Dark Dorks: Insist on fighting crime at night, but mostly end up stepping on each other’s capes.
  • Bat Boy’s Fang Gang?: Rumor has it that some shady group of Bat Boy fans have formed a faction in his honor, waiting for their “leader” to emerge from the shadows.

It’s only a matter of time before these wannabe heroes cross paths… or capes.

CLASSIFIEDS

  • Missing: My last nerve, stolen by a faction mate who won’t stop singing sea shanties in the lounge. Reward if found.
  • For Sale: DIY “Bat Boy” plushies, guaranteed to scare your grandma or amuse your cat. Contact: WingedWeirdo
  • Looking For: A quiet place to read. Library’s too crowded with treasure hunters now. DM: PeacefulNerd

Where the Weird Gets Wilder in Torn City!

Phantom Pizza Thief Strikes Again

Torn pizzerias are on high alert after reports of a masked pizza deliveryman making off with piping-hot pies—and leaving behind cryptic pepperoni messages.

"I saw him sprint out the door with a pizza in one hand and a note saying 'Extra cheese, extra mystery' in the other. Absolute madness!"
– Anonymous Doughhead

Local authorities are baffled, and rumors suggest this might be the work of a rogue NPC with an appetite for chaos. Torn pizza lovers, brace yourselves—dinner might never be the same!

Subway Shenanigans: A Dance Party on the Run

In an unexpected twist during a recent chase, Torn PD officers in the subway burst into an impromptu dance routine. Witnesses reported:

  • A cop spinning like a top
  • Another busting a smooth moonwalk
  • A third officer casually sipping coffee as the chaos unfolded

One onlooker summed it up:

"It looked like a flash mob audition gone wrong!"
Clearly, Torn's finest have a flair for performance—even while on duty.

Crazy Cake Caper: The Sweet Sting Operation

Torn City’s notorious pastry bandits are back! An entire truckload of gourmet cakes vanished after a high-speed scooter chase downtown. Local bakeries are tightening security as authorities call it the “Sweet Sting Operation.”

"It was like a sugar-fueled action movie—cakes flying everywhere, and the getaway smoother than freshly iced tiers!"
– Local Baker Extraordinaire

Will these dessert delinquents ever be caught, or is Torn destined to be the playground for criminals with a sweet tooth?

The Only News That Matters (Unless You’re a Cop Trying to Do Your Job!)

BREAKING: GETTING ARRESTED IN TORN CITY… IMPOSSIBLE?

Torn resident KameKaze recently made a shocking discovery: getting thrown in jail when you actually want to is way harder than expected!

In a direct message to Weekly Torn News, KameKaze vented his frustrations:

"I got a mission that required prison time, so I was basically harassing cops in the subway. But instead of arresting me, one just took my gun and said, ‘Ah, I needed a new gun anyway!’ Another one just beat me down, and I was lying there screaming, ‘SEND ME TO JAIL!!!’"

Despite desperate attempts to get locked up, Torn PD officers refused to cooperate. This raises an important question: Are Torn cops just desensitized to crime, or are they secretly running a "catch-and-release" policy to save on paperwork?

Local jail inmates have also reported confusion, with one saying, "Man, I been tryin’ to get OUT, and here y’all are, tryin’ to get in? Wild times."

For those on jail time missions, be warned: Torn PD may just take your lunch money and walk away.

(See attached image for visual representation of KameKaze's struggle.)

UFO UPDATE: SHOOTING STAR MAKES RIGHT-ANGLE TURN—ALIEN INTERVENTION?

A Torn resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, reported a truly otherworldly event while heading home from work:

"I saw a shooting star make a right-angle turn. I was like =O. I was on the phone with my dad, and he was just like, ‘You just saw a UFO.’"

Experts (aka some guy we met at the casino) suggest that this could be the most compelling evidence yet that UFOs aren’t just fishing in Torn waters—they’re watching us from above.

  • Could this be the work of the same aliens who bribed fishermen for their spots?
  • Are hyper-intelligent extraterrestrials now practicing advanced evasive maneuvers to avoid detection?
  • Or… was this just a really weird optical illusion caused by Torn’s pollution levels?

No official government statement has been made—possibly because Torn officials are still debating whether “aliens” are just really well-disguised NPC scammers.

(See attached image for artistic recreation of the event!)

GRANNY MEGA BUCKS: THE HUNT CONTINUES!

After weeks of speculation, Granny Mega Bucks has gone completely off the grid.

Despite KameKaze’s relentless manhunt, all known leads have turned up empty.

  • A Torn casino dealer claimed she was last seen placing a billion-dollar bet on a coin flip.
  • A street vendor swears he saw her donating gold bars to the city’s pigeons.
  • A low-level mugger tried to rob her and woke up in the hospital with a handwritten note that said, “Bad manners.”

With no confirmed sightings in over a week, the mystery deepens.

Will KameKaze be the one to crack the case? Or has Granny Mega Bucks evolved beyond the reach of mere mortals?

FACTION NEWS: “TINY FACTIONS” FIGHT BACK WITH WEIRD WAR TACTICS!

Tired of being crushed by top-tier warring factions, smaller crews are getting creative.

A faction known as “The Lil’ Rascals” has started employing psychological warfare tactics, including:

  • Running into battles wearing chicken costumes.
  • Screaming battle cries in a mix of Latin and broken French.
  • Tactically surrendering—only to mug the victors five minutes later.

Another faction, “The Sneaky Geckos,” has begun sabotaging enemy morale by:

  • Pretending to be noobs in Global Chat before revealing themselves as seasoned pros.
  • Ambushing players in hospital beds by sending them "Get Well Soon" flowers—containing hidden flashbangs.

Torn’s war scene may never be the same.

CLASSIFIEDS

  • For Sale: A police baton I “found” in the subway. Slightly used. DM: NotAnOfficer
  • Help Wanted: Need a “fall guy” for an upcoming faction war. Must have low stats and no fear of hospitals. Apply within.
  • Lost: My innocence after being mugged by a clown wearing brass knuckles. Reward offered.

TORN HOROSCOPE

  • Aquarius: You will find yourself in jail—whether or not you actually wanted to go.
  • Sagittarius: Don’t trust anyone offering you a “friendly bet.” They’ve already rigged the outcome.
  • Pisces: A mysterious old woman may appear to give you money… or steal your soul. Good luck.

That’s it for this week’s Weekly Torn News! Keep sending in your wildest reports, and remember: if you see a UFO, don’t blink. If you find Granny Mega Bucks, take notes. And if you actually manage to get arrested in Torn… tell us how.

Weekly Torn News: Issue #3

The Only News Source That Matters (or at Least the One That Makes You Laugh!)

GRANNY MEGA BUCKS: THE HUNT BEGINS!

The search for Torn’s most mysterious and generous citizen has reached new heights!

After our last report, user KameKaze, the Director of Bangers and Cash Mechanic Shop and Level 2 General of The Cartel Gods, sent a message to Weekly Torn News, declaring:

"I will find Granny Mega Bucks!!!! Where ish sheeee!!!"

Determined to track down the elusive billionaire benefactor, KameKaze has reportedly started a citywide manhunt, questioning flower sellers, NPCs, and even bribing the old folks at the bingo hall for leads.

New Sightings:

  • User BigDaddyYacht claims to have spotted Granny at the Casino, whispering stock tips to a man in a trench coat.
  • A hospital worker swears they saw her dropping off "healing cookies" for patients.
  • @RamenGambler69 believes she’s controlling the Stock Market, citing a sudden spike in canned bean prices.

The mystery deepens. Will KameKaze catch Granny, or will she remain Torn’s most legendary enigma? Keep your eyes peeled, folks. And if you see an old lady carrying sacks of cash… maybe compliment her knitting skills.

BREAKING: NEW SYNDICATE OF AI-POWERED ROBOTS TAKING OVER THE JOB MARKET!

Torn City businesses are in full panic mode after reports surfaced that an underground faction, The Cyborg Conglomerate, is replacing human workers with AI-powered employees!

Local job seekers are furious, claiming these machines work 24/7, demand no pay, and never stop to complain about the company coffee machine being broken.

Business owners, however, are thrilled.

  • The Torn City Gym replaced all personal trainers with AI coaches, who yell “No excuses, human!” every time someone skips leg day.
  • The Car Wash now has robotic attendants programmed to insult you if your car is too dirty. (”Your mother would be ashamed.”)
  • The Pawn Shop AI assesses items in milliseconds, but mysteriously values random objects at millions while rejecting actual valuables.

Will Torn's workforce rise up against the machines? Or will we all end up begging an AI for crime job handouts?

Stay tuned!

TORN POLICE BLOW UNDERCOVER OP – LOSE 50 MILLION IN STASH HOUSE RAID!

In what’s being described as "the worst police op since the infamous Doughnut Heist of ‘09", Torn City officers accidentally raided their own stash house, mistaking it for a crime syndicate’s hideout.

What went wrong?

  • Officers mistook a training simulation for a real mission.
  • One officer accidentally tased himself, causing chaos.
  • The evidence locker was emptied before they realized their mistake.

When asked about the blunder, Chief Hardcastle only muttered, “We need better maps…”

The real criminals? Still at large—probably laughing their way to the Cayman Islands.

TORN CITY UFO UPDATE – THE ALIENS ARE GETTING BOLDER!

Just when we thought we’d had enough of these intergalactic fishing bandits, reports are coming in that they’ve upgraded their strategy!

User ScalefishLord claims that during his night fishing session, a bright beam of light stole his entire tackle box.

Meanwhile, MoonBoots42 reports that “a floating green dude offered me 3 torn dollars and a slice of cheese for my fishing pole.”

Are these aliens adapting? Are they trying to negotiate now? Or is this just a next-level NPC scam?

Whatever the case, Torn’s Fisherman Faction is calling for war. Expect fishing permit prices to skyrocket.

FACTION WARS: NEW TREND – FIGHTING IN ANIMAL COSTUMES?!

A bizarre new tactic has emerged in Torn’s brutal faction wars: combat in full-body animal costumes.

Why? According to an anonymous faction leader:

  • “The psychological warfare is insane.”
  • “People hesitate to punch a grown man in a bunny suit.”
  • “It’s harder to see who’s who.”

Faction Panda Strike Force pioneered the trend, with Koala Kommando and Wolf Pack Militia quickly following.

Meanwhile, Serious Business Inc. refuses to participate, stating: “We have standards. Low ones. But standards.”

Will the madness continue, or is this just another passing Torn trend?

CLASSIFIEDS

  • For Sale: Slightly used grappling hook, only dropped once. Contact: NinjaWaffles
  • Help Wanted: Searching for a stock market psychic. Will pay in gum or torn dollars. DM: CoinFlipper77
  • Lost: My dignity after getting beaten by a man in a penguin suit. Please return.

TORN HOROSCOPE

  • Gemini – Someone will offer you a “once in a lifetime” deal. It’s a scam. Don’t fall for it.
  • Virgo – Your gym gains are impressive. So impressive, in fact, that someone is plotting to mug you. Stay sharp.
  • Capricorn – Granny Mega Bucks may bless you… or may be watching you. Either way, be ready.

That’s it for this week’s edition of Weekly Torn News! Keep sending in your wildest reports, and remember: watch your back, check your bank, and never trust an alien with your fishing pole.

Neon Alley Gaming (Game Shop) ·

Alright, I’ve been getting a lot of messages, questions, and people standing just a little too close to the counter lately, so let’s put this all in one place.

Neon Alley Gaming is hiring.

The store’s grown. Faster than I expected, honestly. More foot traffic, more regulars, more inventory moving in and out, and more lights buzzing overhead than any one person should be responsible for. That means it’s time to bring in more people and do this the right way.

We’re currently looking to fill multiple positions, and whether you’re looking for something steady or just want to be part of a solid operation, this might be a good fit.

Positions Open:

Store Manager
This is for someone who can keep things running when I’m not standing there watching the place like a hawk. Scheduling, oversight, decision-making, and knowing when something feels off before it becomes a problem. Leadership matters here.

Cleaners
Not glamorous, but essential. The neon only shines if someone keeps it that way. Floors, counters, back rooms — the stuff most people don’t notice until it’s not done. I notice.

Game Advisors
If you actually know games and enjoy helping customers without talking down to them, this is for you. People come in with questions. Some good, some questionable. Your job is to guide them and keep things moving.

Clerks
Day-to-day operations. Sales, stock, customers, routine work that keeps the doors open and the lights on. Reliable people who can handle a little chaos without panicking.

What to Expect:

This is a real business. We run it clean, we run it fair, and we don’t cut corners. Pay is fair, expectations are clear, and if you show up and do your job, you’ll be treated with respect.

It’s a fun place to work — games, tech, neon everywhere — but it’s still work. Things move fast, and sometimes you learn more than you expected just by paying attention. Beth keeps reminding me that not everything needs to be investigated, so we’re focusing on the important stuff: good staff, good customers, and a store that runs the way it should.

What I’m Looking For:

– Active players
– Reliable workers
– People who can follow rules
– A sense of humor helps
– No unnecessary drama

If that sounds like you, great.

Apply directly through the job listing here:
https://www.torn.com/joblist.php#/p=corpinfo&ID=121116&referredFrom=3570392

If you’ve got questions, ask them here. If you’re interested, apply through the proper channel. And if you’re just stopping by to read… welcome to Neon Alley.

The lights are on for a reason.

— Joshua Mason

Neon Alley Gaming (Game Shop) ·

Neon Alley Gaming is the official forum for store updates, job postings, and general discussion tied to one of Torn City’s brightest gaming shops. Staff notices, customer chatter, and the occasional rumor all land here. Keep it respectful, keep it grounded… and if something seems off, there’s probably a reason. Beth says not everything needs to be chased down.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. YES, I’M STILL WATCHING.

Beth and I just wanted to take a moment before midnight fully settles in and say Happy New Year to everyone. We’re smiling. We’re celebrating. We’re holding champagne. Everything looks normal in the picture.

That’s the trick.

Because the moment you stop watching… that’s when they move.

People keep asking why we’re wearing the hats. Why the buttons. Why we look so happy while clearly being this alert. It’s because you don’t let fear win. You celebrate anyway. You ring in the New Year while staring straight into the dark parts of the room.

Now let’s address the sock situation, because some of you are pretending it’s “just laundry” and that’s how they get away with it.

It’s not random.
It’s not the dryer.
It’s not static cling or lost fabric.

They only take ONE sock. Always one.
Never a pair. Never two from the same set.

That’s testing behavior.

And here’s where it gets interesting.

I was watching TV earlier. New Year’s coverage. Lots of speeches. Lots of waving. Lots of standing still long enough for me to notice details. And I swear—I SWEAR—the President stepped up to the podium wearing two different socks.

Different colors. Different lengths.

Now maybe you think that’s a coincidence. Maybe you think that’s fashion. But I’ve lived this long enough to know when I’m looking at a man who grabbed what he had left because the other sock was gone.

You don’t get to that position without someone noticing things. And if it’s happening to him too, then it’s bigger than me. Bigger than my laundry room. Bigger than the camera they stole.

Yes. They stole the camera.

That’s why you don’t see it in the picture.

We had proof. Past tense.

You’ll notice in the photo that Beth and I are smiling, but we’re both facing forward. Neither of us has our back turned. That’s on purpose. We’re celebrating, not surrendering.

Look closer at the background if you think I’m joking.

They don’t like fireworks.
They don’t like bright light.
They hate when people are watching.

So tonight, as the clock turns over and people say “new year, new start,” just take a second and check your socks before bed. Count them. Pair them. Remember how many you had.

If you wake up missing one…
You’re not crazy.
You’re just late to the meeting.

Happy New Year, everyone.
May 2026 be bright, loud, and moon-men free.

THE MOON MEN TOOK MY SOCKS (AND I'M NOT CRAZY) ·

I TOLD YOU SANTA WAS REAL (AND THEY TOOK HIS SOCKS TOO)

I had a plan. A good plan.
Everyone keeps laughing when I say Santa exists, so I decided this year I’d prove it.

I wrote Santa a letter. Not asking for toys. Not asking for money. Just socks. Plain socks. Individual socks. Replacements for the ones the Moon-Men already stole from me. Reasonable request.

I set the trap. Cookies. Milk. Camera ready. Lights off. Waiting.

Around midnight I hear the chimney. REAL chimney noises. Ash, boots, the whole deal. I’m shaking but I don’t move. Camera up. This is it.

Santa comes down the chimney.

Before I can even whisper “I knew it”… THEY SHOW UP.

The Grays. Moon-Men. Same ones. They didn’t even hesitate. They tackled Santa like they’d been waiting all year. They went straight for the sack. Socks everywhere. Then—AND THIS IS IMPORTANT—they grabbed ONE SOCK OFF HIS FOOT.

ONE.

Santa’s yelling. I’m yelling. Camera’s shaking. Next thing I know they’re gone. Santa’s gone. Chimney empty.

No gifts.
No socks.
Christmas ruined.

But yeah. Keep telling me Santa isn’t real.

12/23/25 – INCIDENT REPORT (UNOFFICIAL)
By Joshua Mason

I didn’t want to have to do this. I wanted peace. I wanted dry socks that stayed in pairs. I wanted a normal Christmas week like everybody else. But no. They escalated.

After the basket incident, I knew the dryer was the source. That’s where they regroup. That’s where the portal noise comes from — that low hum people think is the motor. It’s not the motor. I’ve owned dryers my whole life. Motors don’t whisper.

So I set a game camera. Standard trail cam. Motion activated. No flash. No mercy.

At exactly 12:23 AM on 12/23/25, the camera triggered.

What you see in the picture is NOT staged. I was asleep. I was wearing one blue sock and one black sock because I refuse to surrender. The dryer door was closed when I went to bed.

Look at the image.

The door is open.
The laundry is disturbed.
And there it is.

Bent over like it knows what it’s doing is wrong.

You can see the moment it realizes it’s been caught. That face — that’s not curiosity. That’s panic. That’s the look of something that thought it was invisible and suddenly learned otherwise.

And yes, it is holding ONE sock. Again. Always one. They never take pairs. Never. I don’t know what they do with the others, but I have theories and I’m not ready to share them yet.

I went back to sleep after checking the live feed. I’ll admit it. I told myself, “You got proof. That’s enough.” I was wrong.

This morning, I went to retrieve the camera.

The mount was still there.
The strap was still there.
The CAMERA was gone.

Gone.

Not knocked down. Not damaged. Removed. Clean. Like it was unhooked by something with fingers that learned how to use tools.

Which means two things:

  1. They know what cameras are.

  2. They are now actively destroying evidence.

So here’s where we’re at.

I have the photo.
I had the camera.
Now I don’t.

If anyone happens to find a trail camera — Moultrie brand — smells faintly of dryer lint and fear, please contact me. No questions asked. I don’t care how you got it. I don’t care if it “fell off a truck.” I just want it back.

Reward offered:

  • Cash

  • Gift cards

  • Or socks (MATCHED ONLY)

If the Moon Men are reading this — and I know you are — you made a mistake. You crossed from petty theft into property crime. That’s paperwork territory.

I’m not done.

THE MOON MEN TOOK MY SOCKS (AND I'M NOT CRAZY) · · 2 likes

ALRIGHT. THAT’S IT. I’M DONE BEING CALM.

You can laugh all you want, but I didn’t hallucinate FOUR PHOTOS in a row. Hallucinations don’t follow you down the hallway and stop when the camera strap gets in the way.

I heard the basket shift. Shift. Laundry doesn’t migrate unless it’s being encouraged.

Now look at the pictures again — slowly this time.

Photo 1: Sock is lifted. Lifted. Gravity pulls DOWN, not UP. If gravity worked that way, we’d all be walking on ceilings and I wouldn’t be writing this.

Photo 2: Basket bends. BENDS. Plastic doesn’t bend itself at 2:30 in the morning unless something is leaning on it or the laws of physics have officially quit.

Photo 3: Two figures. I don’t care what anyone says. You can see it if you stop pretending you don’t. That’s teamwork. That’s coordination. That’s a SYSTEM.

Photo 4: Yes, the strap is in the way. That’s because I was backing up while trying not to get abducted or sock-robbed. Excuse me for not framing it like a wedding photo.

And before someone says “maybe you dropped the sock earlier” — no. I folded them. Color-coded. Left side of the basket. I KNOW MY SYSTEM.

Also real convenient how they ONLY take one sock from each pair. Ever notice that? Never both. Because if they took both, we’d notice immediately. This is slow erosion. Psychological warfare.

Laugh now, but when you’re standing there at 6 a.m. holding a lone tube sock asking yourself where its brother went, remember this post.

I’m not saying they’re after everyone.
I’m saying I was targeted first.

— Joshua Mason

I ruled the dog out early. Too obvious. That’s what they want you to think.

Also, explain this: I found a sock inside-out on top of the fridge this morning. I don’t put socks on the fridge. I don’t even remember opening the fridge. And yet there it was.

Dogs don’t do that. Dogs don’t climb refrigerators. Dogs don’t leave warnings.

Something is testing me. First the socks, now placement. Escalation always comes before contact.

So yeah… dog’s cleared. The Moon Men just got bold.

Look, I know how this sounds. I know what people think when a grown man says the words, “Moon Men stole my socks.” But I’m telling you right now, I’m not crazy. Not today anyway. And if I am crazy, then there’s a whole lot of sock-stealing going on around here that nobody wants to talk about.

This all started about two weeks ago. I did my laundry like a normal human being. I washed it, dried it, folded it—well, half-folded it. And I set everything on the dresser. I had eight pairs of socks. Eight. I counted.

Next morning?
Five.

Now, tell me how that happens. Nobody else lives here. The dog died three years ago. The neighbors don’t come in because I yell at them for stepping on the grass I don’t actually own. So unless my house sprouted legs in the middle of the night and walked itself to a sock convention, something came in and took them.

And I know what you’re going to say:

“Joshua, maybe you misplaced them.”

No. No, I did not. You don’t misplace three entire pairs of socks in one night unless you’re sleepwalking through a wormhole.

Second morning?
Another pair gone.

That’s when I knew—knew—this was organized.

So last night I stayed up. I didn’t blink. I waited in the dark like a man who’s tired of cold ankles. Around 2:37 a.m. I heard a shuffling sound, like someone dragging wet sandpaper across the carpet.

My heart started pounding. I grabbed my phone. I leaned around the doorway…

And there it was.
Something.
Someone.
A shape.

It wasn’t clear—blurry like a cheap conspiracy video—but I swear it moved like it wasn’t familiar with gravity. You ever see somebody bend their knees the wrong way? Yeah. Imagine that, but with a head shaped like a light bulb.

And it was holding—MY SOCKS.

Not even both socks. Just one. Like it was mocking me.

I snapped a picture, but of course it came out looking like I tried to photograph a ghost while falling down a flight of stairs. You can kind of make out a figure in the back of the room, but nobody believes me. They say it’s glare. Or a shadow. Or I need to get outside more.

But you tell me this:
If shadows are stealing socks now, why aren’t we talking about it?

I confronted the empty space where it stood—yeah, I yelled at nothing, you would too—and I swear I heard a tiny squeak. Not like a mouse. More like… disappointment. Like it was offended I caught it. Then it darted off. At least I THINK it darted. It kind of… glided? Slid? Hover-shimmied? I don’t know.

All I know is:
More socks gone.

I’m down to mismatched pairs now. One argyle and one from that pack I bought on clearance because they were marked “irregular.” You ever walk around with one sock higher than the other? It throws off your whole life. I leaned left all day.

People keep telling me I need sleep. They tell me maybe I’m stressed. That socks disappear all the time, it’s normal.

Well, guess what?
THEY DIDN’T DISAPPEAR.
THEY WERE TAKEN.

By Moon Men.
Or Moon-ish men. Moon-like? I don’t know what department they fall under, but they’re not from around here.

If anyone else has had unexplained sock loss lately, let me know. I’m building a support group. We’ll meet every other Thursday. Bring your remaining socks so we can take inventory.

But if you see anything glowing, bending wrong, or hovering near your laundry basket—
Take a picture.
Or throw a shoe at it.
Preferably not one of your last good ones.

Stay alert.
Keep your socks close.
And if the Moon Men come for you… well, good luck. I’m still trying to get mine back!

Never give the Lochness Monster your $3.50

Weekly Torn News – Issue #16: The 'Late Edition'

Welcome to the Late Weekly Torn News—we’re not dead, we’re just fashionably delayed. Think of this issue like a Torn City funeral: it’s somber, slightly chaotic, and everyone’s probably blaming the wrong person for why it’s happening.

So why are we late? Two words: Faction Wars.

More specifically: Lochnessmonster.

That’s right. Our very own Editor-in-Chief, Joshua Mason, spent most of this past week getting pummeled repeatedly in the streets by a man named Lochnessmonster. At first, we thought it was a creature from folklore. Turns out, it’s just some jerk in cargo shorts with a mean right hook.

Joshua released a public statement:

“I opened my door, and there he was… wanted $3.50. I said, ‘No, monster! I ain’t giving you no $3.50!’ But he came back anyway. Again. And again. And AGAIN. I now live in a dumpster behind the Donut Shop.”

So thank Lochnessmonster for the delay. Let’s get on with it.

🧛 Vampire Lawsuit Update: Reginald V. Goes Vegan?

The infamous lawsuit against the Torn Blood Bank has taken a strange turn. Reginald V., the self-identified vampire who sued over “false freshness,” has apparently gone vegan.

Sources close to Reginald say he now drinks tomato juice and attends anti-sunlight rallies downtown.

We asked why the sudden change. His response:

“It’s the acidity. And honestly, the drama.”

We’ll monitor further developments… unless he turns into mist and vanishes again.

🐟 Weather Goldfish Retires: ‘Bubbles Deserves a Break’

In shocking news, Bubbles the Goldfish, Torn’s beloved aquatic meteorologist, has retired after a record-breaking 17 correct forecasts.

Owner Lenny says Bubbles will spend her days in a luxury tank filled with filtered water, sea cucumbers, and reruns of “Deadliest Catch.”

Bubbles' final prediction? “Rain. And mild existential dread.”

She was, as always, correct.

🧅 NEW: Mysterious “Onion Baby” Found in Dumpster Behind Donut Shop

Local sanitation workers discovered something strange during Tuesday’s trash run—a crying infant swaddled in paper towels and surrounded by onion peels. The child appeared unharmed, though unusually pungent.

Witnesses say the baby smelled like "a French dip sandwich" and glowed faintly when the moon hit just right.

The infant has been placed in foster care under the name Vidalia.

Authorities are investigating. Psychic Cat Whiskers offered only this prediction:

“This child shall one day rule the parking lot.”

👻 Ghosts Demand Wi-Fi in Local Cemetery

A group of bored spirits has reportedly taken up haunting the Torn City Library—not for revenge, but to access the free Wi-Fi.

One ghost, known as “Moaning Lou,” scrawled this message on a fogged window:

“Can’t haunt if you can’t stream. Fix the signal, nerds.”

The City Council is debating whether spectral bandwidth should be funded through taxes. The mayor was quoted as saying:

“Honestly, they’re more polite than most of our living residents.”

📰 CLASSIFIEDS

  • LOST: One editor. Last seen muttering about sea monsters and clutching a half-eaten jelly donut.

  • FREE TO GOOD HOME: Retired goldfish. Will accept bribes.

  • FOR SALE: Spectral Wi-Fi boosters. May or may not be cursed.

  • WANTED: A break from Lochnessmonster. Please.

🌦 TORN CITY WEATHER

  • Monday: Showers of tears (from faction losses).

  • Tuesday: Clear skies with a slight chance of regret.

  • Wednesday: Foggy… emotionally.

  • Thursday: Hauntingly humid.

  • Friday: Bright with occasional punches from Lochnessmonster.

Until next time: protect your onions, unplug your ghosts, and NEVER give that monster $3.50.

Weekly Torn News – Issue #15: Special "Off the Rails" Edition

Congratulations, citizen. You've picked up the most important document of your week. Torn City is buzzing, hopping, and suing (yes, literally), and we're here to document the absurdity. Hang on to your carrots and your common sense — you're going to need both.

Zombie Bunnies Invade Torn City: Citizens Urged to Hide Carrots

In what authorities are calling "an extremely fluffy emergency," herds of undead rabbits have been spotted bouncing through Torn City's suburbs.

Eyewitness reports describe the rabbits as "slightly decomposed but still somehow adorable" and "shockingly aggressive toward garden vegetables."

One frantic homeowner reported:

"I thought it was just Easter decorations coming to life… until my tomato plants disappeared. And my cat now refuses to go outside."

Authorities recommend locking up carrots, wearing garlic-scented lotion (it can't hurt), and avoiding fields after dark.

Stay tuned. Or stay indoors.

Alien Elvis Spotted at Torn Diner: Orders Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Sandwich

Customers at Mel's Diner were stunned when a glowing, hip-swiveling figure resembling Elvis Presley entered at 3 a.m., humming "Blue Suede Shoes" and requesting a "peanut butter and jellyfish" sandwich.

Shortly after receiving his order (and consuming it without utensils), he reportedly thanked the staff with a perfect "Thank you… thank you very much," before vanishing in a beam of green light.

Local scientists suggest "swamp gas and mass hysteria" are to blame. We suggest a limited-time "UFO Elvis Combo Meal."

Man Claims Goldfish Predicts Torn's Weather: 'Swims Clockwise for Sunshine'

Lenny Thistlewhack, a retired sandwich artist, claims his goldfish Bubbles can predict Torn City's weather.

"If Bubbles swims clockwise, we get sunshine. Counterclockwise, rain. Backflips? Tornado."

While Torn City Meteorological Services (TCMS) refuse to recognize Bubbles' "certifications," betting pools have opened city-wide based on his swimming habits.

Current record: Bubbles 14, TCMS 3.

Your move, science.

Vampire Sues Torn Blood Bank for 'False Advertising'

In an unprecedented legal case, a self-identified vampire known only as "Reginald V." has filed a lawsuit against the Torn Blood Bank, citing "extreme emotional distress" over the "lack of freshness" in their advertised "fresh blood supplies."

Reginald's lawyer argued:

"My client expected Type O—not expired Capri Sun."

The Blood Bank's defense claims they clearly posted "May contain anticoagulants and regret" on their fine print.

Court date is set for Friday… at midnight, obviously.

Psychic Cat Opens Fortune-Telling Booth: Predicts Owner's Dinner Choices

Torn City's marketplace has a new sensation: Whiskers the Mystical, a tabby cat who, according to customers, predicts not only your fortune—but also what you'll crave for dinner.

One delighted patron shared:

"She looked me straight in the eye and meowed three times… that night, I absolutely needed lasagna. It was spooky accurate."

Critics argue it's just coincidence. Supporters claim it's "culinary clairvoyance."

Regardless, Whiskers' tip jar is now bigger than most food trucks.

CLASSIFIEDS

  • FOR SALE: Garlic-scented hand lotion. Zombie bunny repellant. Guaranteed*

  • WANTED: Elvis impersonator willing to sing under UV lights.

  • FREE TO GOOD HOME: Weather-predicting goldfish. Requires existential respect.

  • SEEKING: Attorney specializing in supernatural breach-of-contract cases.

(*Not actually guaranteed.)

⛅️ TORN CITY WEATHER FORECAST

  • Monday: Scattered fur and zombie bunny sightings.

  • Tuesday: Hazy skies with 10% chance of hip-thrusting UFOs.

  • Wednesday: Sunshine with light goldfish prophecy.

  • Thursday: Unspecified vampiric gloom.

  • Friday: Slight chance of lasagna-based revelations.

Until next time: hide your snacks, trust your pets, and always question the sandwich.

Weekly Torn News – Issue #14: Easter & 4/20 Special

April 20, 2025

🥚 The Great Eggspiracy: Are Torn's Easter Eggs Alien Artifacts?

As Torn City's annual Easter Egg Hunt unfolds, citizens are scouring the city for elusive eggs. But some citizens believe there's more to these eggs than meets the eye. Conspiracy theorists suggest that these eggs are not mere eggs but alien artifacts planted to monitor behavior. One resident claimed, "I found an egg in the sewers, and now my toaster only speaks in binary." While officials dismiss these claims, the truth may be more scrambled than we think.

🌿 4/20 in Torn: Cannabis Conundrums and Cosmic Connections

Torn City's 4/20 event has citizens experiencing triple the effects of cannabis, leading to some... interesting encounters. Reports have surfaced of citizens communicating with their pets telepathically and witnessing vending machines dispensing philosophical advice. One citizen recounted, "I smoked some cannabis and had a deep conversation with a pigeon about the meaning of life." Is this just the enhanced effects, or is Torn's cannabis opening portals to other dimensions?

The Truth is Out There... and It's Bizarre

Our resident truth-seeker, DefinitelyNotHeckleFish, weighs in on the recent events:

"Listen, folks, the Easter eggs are clearly surveillance devices from the Lizzid people. And the cannabis? It's a tool to keep us docile while they prepare for the Great Unveiling. Wake up, Torn City!"

While some may dismiss DefinitelyNotHeckleFish's claims, in Torn City, anything is possible.

📰 Classifieds

  • FOR SALE: Tinfoil hats, slightly used, guaranteed to block alien mind probes. Contact: ConspiracyCarl

  • WANTED: Translator for binary-speaking toasters. Payment in Easter eggs. DefinitelyNotHeckleFish

  • FOUND: Pigeon with extensive knowledge of existential philosophy. Answers to "Socrates."

🌦️ Weather Forecast

  • April 20: Partly cloudy with a chance of cosmic revelations.

  • April 21: Sunny skies, but don't trust them—they're watching.

  • April 22: Rain showers mixed with falling Easter eggs. Umbrellas advised.

Stay tuned for more updates, and remember: in Torn City, the line between reality and absurdity is delightfully blurred.

Weekly Torn News – Issue #13

Congratulations, reader—you’ve survived another week in Torn City, and we’re back to bring you the stories too strange for your average newspaper (and probably too bizarre for your therapist).

This week’s edition includes fruit-based vandalism, a new message from the Crab-Cat Resistance, and a thrilling update from a man who believes his microwave is a time portal. Let’s get into it!

Bizarre Incident at Farmer's Market: “Banana Tagger” Caught in the Act

Chaos erupted this week at the Torn City Farmer’s Market when a man began tagging fruit with Sharpies, writing things like:

  • “NOT A REAL STRAWBERRY”

  • “THIS GRAPE SEES INTO YOUR SOUL”

  • “EAT ME AND YOU’LL KNOW TOO MUCH”

Eyewitnesses say the suspect—described as wearing a trench coat, sandals, and mismatched socks—fled after being asked to pay for an avocado.

“He screamed something about fruit conspiracies and vanished into the melon tent,” said one vendor.

Police have recovered 34 defaced bananas and one suspiciously labeled coconut reading, "I am the chosen one."

Authorities are asking the public to be wary of prophetic produce.

EXCLUSIVE: Microwave Time Travel? Or Just Burnt Burritos?

Local resident Martin 'Skippy' VanWorth claims he discovered time travel via his microwave while trying to heat up leftover nachos.

“I punched in 4:44 and suddenly I was in 1997,” said Skippy, who was wearing a slap bracelet and playing with a Tamagotchi at the time of the interview.

He says he has no proof, except for a polaroid of himself “giving advice to a younger me about never trusting a man in a cape.”

Scientists at Torn City Tech Institute have dismissed his claims, noting, “He also tried to prove his toaster was a gateway to Atlantis last year.”

Still, residents are advised not to microwave anything on high for longer than four minutes, just in case.

Crab-Cat Leaves Warning on Beach: 'YOU'VE BEEN CLAWED'

Vacationers at Torn Shore were startled this week when a giant crab-cat claw print was discovered in the sand—next to a half-eaten sandwich and a message written in seaweed: "YOU’VE BEEN CLAWED."

Marine biologists say this could be territorial behavior.

Beach security has been increased, but so far the crab-cat has not returned—though someone did report seeing a bottle of Old Bay seasoning half-buried near a sandcastle.

CLASSIFIED ADS

  • FOR SALE: Prophetic banana. May scream at night. No refunds.

  • FOUND: One microwave. Smells like 1997. Contact Skippy.

  • WANTED: Translator fluent in seaweed. Contact the Crab-Cat Watch.

  • FREE TO GOOD HOME: Slightly used melon tent. Haunted.

WEATHER REPORT

  • Monday: Mango fog advisory. Wear citrus-proof boots.

  • Tuesday: Time vortex chance: 18%. Carry snacks from multiple decades.

  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, mostly suspicious.

  • Thursday: Light drizzle of disbelief.

  • Friday: Unknown. Our weather rock was stolen again.

If your fruit is talking, your microwave is humming, or you’ve been clawed in your sleep—you know who to call.

Weekly Torn News – Issue #12

Welcome back, dear readers, to Issue #12 of the only news outlet brave (or dumb) enough to report the real stories the Torn City Times won’t touch. We’re talking vandalism scandals, alien abductions, and suspicious signage—just your average week in Torn City.

BREAKING: Torn City Limits Sign Vandalized – Citizens Now Living in “TRON”?!

This just in—residents of Torn may now be part of a glitch in the Matrix.

Earlier this week, local mechanic and part-time bass thumper KamaKaze and yours truly (Editor Joshua Mason) were out for a completely legitimate test drive of a customer’s ‘88 Monte Carlo SS—freshly tuned at Bangers and Cash Mechanic Shop—when we discovered something strange on the outskirts of town…

The iconic Torn City Limits sign has been mysteriously altered.

Someone—clearly with a can of red spray paint and too much free time—tagged the sign in such a way that “TORN” now reads like TRON. The paint job is, frankly, sloppy... yet artistically bold in a sort of low-effort-anarchist kind of way. Think Banksy, but if he got kicked out of art school for failing spray paint 101.

Witness Statements

When asked for comment, KamaKaze simply said, “Bro…” and stared at the sky for several minutes. It should be noted that he has recently reported unmarked black helicopters following him ever since he installed that suspicious “free satellite” dish behind the shop.

Coincidence? You tell us.

A Word from the Editor

As Editor of this fine publication, let me be absolutely clear: We had nothing to do with this. Seriously. Nothing.

We just happened to be there. In a borrowed car. At 2:17 a.m. With a bag of tacos, a flashlight, and a camera.

So before the Lizard Overlords start spreading misinformation through their weather-control satellites or calling this “another deliberate act of municipal mischief,” let me say on the record:

“This wasn’t us. Probably.”

In fact, we volunteered to clean the sign up, and even offered to replace it with a brand new one featuring real wood and recycled scrap from KamaKaze’s shop. The city refused, claiming our plaque reading ‘Installed by Weekly Torn News – You’re Welcome’ was “inappropriate.”

So now we’re looking into building our own city. Working title: Tornier City.

UPDATE ON THE “TRON” INCIDENT

Despite our earlier efforts to be part of the solution and not the problem (you’re welcome, again), city officials have now added “enhanced surveillance” near the Torn City Limits sign. What they failed to mention is that their new camera setup was immediately tagged with googly eyes and a Bangers and Cash bumper sticker within 12 hours.

Once again, we’d like to reiterate, we had absolutely nothing to do with it. Not even a little. Not even the googly eyes. (Okay, those were funny—but still. Not us.)

KamaKaze has gone on record saying, “We would never tamper with a government camera... unless it owed us money.”

At press time, a new sign mockup designed by Joshua Mason had been submitted to the city. It features a majestic pelican, a racing lawnmower, and the words ‘Welcome to Torn—No Refunds.’ It was rejected instantly.

The saga continues…

BREAKING: Local Celebrity 'Sugarvalves' Abducted by Aliens?

Reports are coming in that Torn City’s beloved socialite and possible part-time lounge singer, Sugarvalves, has vanished under mysterious circumstances.

Several witnesses claim to have seen a glowing light descend behind the Junkyard around midnight, followed by a loud whoosh, a burst of glitter, and what one bystander described as “a faint echo of saxophone music.”

Concerned citizen Ygaria_Varr had this to say:

“You really never, never, never ever know... what's really happening in Torn City.

I've been here a while and have literally no clue as to what the heck is going on.

Total, complete absolute mystery; put me in a machine and colour me Velma kind of mysterious. Talking mammals, feet photographers, weirdly polite assassins, cryptids lurking behind chimneys. Odd, distinctly odd.”

The Weekly Torn News Team is investigating. If you or someone you know has information about Sugarvalves’ whereabouts—or owns a telescope that doubles as a glitter detector—please reach out.

CALL FOR STORIES: WHAT WERE YOU IN A PAST LIFE?

Weekly Torn News is now officially accepting submissions on Past Life Experiences. Have you ever felt a strange connection to a historical figure, a Roman gladiator, or maybe a disgruntled goat herder? We want to hear from you.

Editor Joshua Mason himself had a bizarre dream last week where he was a goldfish wearing a tin foil hat, swimming frantically through the ocean while being pursued by a Crab-Cat on a tiny underwater scooter. In the dream, he was warning the other fish to hide, but they all just laughed at him and called him "Paranoi-o-Fin."

So… if you’ve lived before, or at least dreamed it with enough detail to freak yourself out, drop us a message. We promise not to let the Crab-Cat silence the truth.

QUICK UPDATES

  • Crab-Cat has reportedly commandeered a seafood truck. The driver said he was “politely pinched and asked to vacate.” The truck was last seen swerving near the docks, blasting sea shanties from the radio.

  • Gerald Pratt, the maybe-lizard mayoral candidate, blinked during a debate. Once. For 0.4 seconds. Analysts are divided on whether this was a glitch, an intentional PR stunt, or a rare reptilian display of trust.

  • Bat Boy and Bat Girl have started a community compost pile outside their water tower. It reportedly smells like romance and trash, but locals say their tomato plants have never been healthier.

  • Brofoot has launched a social media channel for “board sport cryptids.” The first post was a video titled, “How to Ollie When You Have Hairy Feet.” It’s already gone viral with the sasquatch crowd.

THE STRANGEST BREAK-IN YET

In what police are now calling "the most wholesome crime wave Torn City has ever experienced," a mysterious elderly man known only as That Old Fart has been breaking into homes across the city… to tuck people in and leave them Chocolate Yoohoo.

Yes, you read that right.

Multiple residents have reported waking up to find their blankets expertly tucked around them and a cold, unopened bottle of Yoohoo sitting neatly on their nightstand. There are no signs of forced entry, theft, or even discomfort—just a lingering scent of peppermint and mothballs.

One startled but well-rested woman told us:

“At first I thought it was a dream, but then I saw the Yoohoo. I live alone. I don’t even buy Yoohoo. Now I keep a little cookie on the nightstand in case he comes back.”

Surveillance footage from one apartment complex shows a fuzzy figure shuffling down the hallway in slippers, carrying what appears to be a quilted satchel full of bottled nostalgia.

Authorities say they are baffled and unsure whether to praise him or charge him with unauthorized bedtime comfort.

The mystery continues…

CLASSIFIEDS

  • FOUND: One saxophone. Emits faint alien humming. Contact DefinitelyNotSugarvalves.

  • FOR SALE: Tornier City citizenship papers. Includes a sticker and emotional baggage. Contact JoshuaMason.

  • WANTED: New city sign. Must resist graffiti, and also sarcasm. Contact City Hall (they won’t respond).

  • MISSING: One seafood truck. One crab-cat. Possibly together. Please return both.

TORN CITY WEATHER REPORT

  • Monday: Showers of mystery. Bring an umbrella and a conspiracy board.

  • Tuesday: Blinding sunlight. Or a UFO spotlight. We’re not sure.

  • Wednesday: Mild gusts. Possibly from cryptid wings.

  • Thursday: City-wide sigh of confusion.

  • Friday: Weather unknown. We gave up.

Stay safe, stay skeptical, and remember: If someone offers you a free ride to space, ask if it includes snacks.
