This is a reform of Team Salad so I expect it's going to be very similar to when I was involved with 'em. Anyone that's interested; it's a very social faction with very friendly guys. Good luck!
If anything, it confirmed that it's going to be quite a big shock.
I think I like the depth of the system (I managed a crack crime and a few other crimes) but I've known crimes 1.0 for 18 something years. And Torn has been a part of my morning routine for most of that time. Having to actually use my brain to do crimes within the first few moments of waking up will be.. Strange.
While I already have it and it's not a total rollback, I do think the time traveller merit should be given to those affected by the accidental migration that don't already have it. At least part of the database was rolled back after all. And since the "blackout" Torn's resiliency has improved to the point where it's unlikely this merit will be given out (never say never! Interesting times and all that..)
Well, why not? I switched to Edge after Edge switched to the Chromium engine. I use Edge instead of Chrome for all sorts of reasons. I have a work profile that isolates my corporate identity and personal identities, I prefer the privacy controls Microsoft offer, Integration with "Your Phone" so I could open tabs from my PC and even if I didn't send a tab to my PC, integration with Windows means that I can see what I've visited in Task View in Windows. As much as we all hate IE, Edge (as "CrEdge" or "Edgeium", not like the old Edge) is actually quite a good browser. But I digress!
Browser choice aside I guess my next step is to raise an issue with the Edge team, somehow. Pretty sure there's a Github for it so I'll have a hunt for that and raise an issue if one doesn't already exist.
"Checking your browser before accessing torn.com" does not redirect to login on Edge for Android. Versions below in the screenshot.
On the same devices, Google Chrome (on Android) redirects as expected and I've managed to replicate the issue on two phones. Also can replicate on both Wifi and mobile network.
Well, this explains a lot.. I only installed Torn Tools this week and YATA only worked for about a day. I guess I can confirm I've been IP banned - I can load YATA on my mobile network but not on my home network.
Just one of many stories that go on in Torn City :) Most, if not all, of the names posted were in a faction called Team Salad. It was 7-8 years ago so my memory is hard pressed!
We haven't spoken in a very long time, according to my mailbox history its been 3 years! So I'm flattered that you remember Team Salad so dearly. They were good times f'sure.
Wishing you all the best Ras, hope you achieve everything you want!
Built my rig a good few years ago (back when Intel 4770K was new). It's going strong, to be honest! GPU's had a few upgrades though - Currently on a watercooled 980Ti.
I'm not planning on upgrading though. I'm going to be using xCloud (Microsoft's, functioning version of Google Stardia) and just stream the game to whatever I'm using at the time.
Why? No startup cost, really. Sure, I still need to buy a phone or laptop - I'd have done that anyway. But if I don't have to buy a GPU and I can just "rent" one, why not ????
I didn't go to uni, I didn't want to! I was done with education I knew what I wanted to do. From Sixth Form I went for an apprenticeship. So as in terms of formal education the highest I got to was a BTEC LVL 3. Through "learning on the job" and self-study here and there I have a handful of Microsoft Azure certifications :) No regrets! Just as importantly, no crippling debt!
Obviously, DDoSing breaks Microsoft's ToS for Azure. It is monitored. Subscriptions/tenants that do perform DDoS can actually be disabled. Which, interestingly can be a form of DDos in itself.
Consider someone spinning up a server (VM) in Azure, leaving RDP/SSH open to the internet. Bots then brute force the logon. If the credentials are simple it won't be long before the bots deploy some kind of payload. Sometimes this can be DDoS stuff, not always. Either way, it breaks it'll break the ToS. Microsoft will catch whiff and notify Tenant owners - if they don't respond in time the subscription or tenant is disabled. Now, if that is a subscription providing actual live services - you've DDoS'ed an Azure sub.
All for improved energy density in batteries but the for a while (a year and a bit ago, maybe) there was news about how improved batteries every other week. So, I've grown a tad cynical. There's chemistries out there f'sure but scaling any of these for mass-production, as far as I know, has been a challenge. I'd love to know why but we rarely get that detail (or maybe it's just me never finding it).
