willing to look at other companies but I’m a dex build so it either has to be a good deal or make sense. I’m also a coder so can create scripts to help you run the business.
I’m going to try to not jump on the negative band wagon, even though it’s where my head went straight there.
There’s a few issues here, and reading your response to feedback suggests that some of them are that you perhaps haven’t articulated your points as well as you’d like.
As others have said, you can already buy DP for cash (as you know) and then sell them at the pawnshop to directly translate them into game currency (I feel maybe you didn’t know this, based on your post - it’s easy to miss so no harm done). So basically within 3 or so clicks you can turn cash into game currency. Basically doing what you’re suggesting.
when you mention, buying RW - not through the player market… Well the only ways to get them are missions, caches, item market and auction (mostly auction or caches). To get caches you either need to run a faction and win them, or trade them on the player market.
basically apart from the stock market which is its own level of genius that does get impacted by other players so not other player independent, pretty much every major purchase in the game is player to player. Which is why it’s so brilliant.
I am wondering if what you’re trying to suggest is that you can buy special weapons directly from the game economy, rather than between players. Like you can in many games, meaning that money could be taken out of the game, hence perhaps reducing inflation. That’s not what your post says, but the only way I can imagine you can be thinking.
As an idea, this is slightly more interesting, because it could actually reduce inflation, players pumping money into the game could do so for a benefit to them without pumping currency into the economy. BUT it would make the game far more pay to win, which is one of the things that makes Torn so great. If you pump money into the game to get ahead, you’re also making someone else richer because you have to buy it from them; and that creates a balance.
For me, this is a no go, while I appreciate the impact on the economy may be positive regarding inflation, it imbalances the game.
You could get the same impact by reducing the value of DPs from the Pawn Shop (which would annoy players but likely slow inflation. Or simply remove it all together, which would create a whole level of risk and other problems, so also a bit of a no-go.
One of the inflationary problems in my view, is the decimation of the value of points. So I’d probably suggest making points more valuable by giving new enticing benefits you can spend points on. Perhaps even changing reloads from daily to 12 hourly. This will sink currency back into points (I think at least) which is the games currently designed model to pull cash out of the economy.
