I own a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 that just reached 120,000mi, and I brought that unicorn back from the dead. Bought it for scrap price because it had "some" wiring and electrical issues that couldn't be solved. After a few weeks of going through and rewiring everything to the firewall I STILL couldn't solve one single issue, and neither could the dealerships. Driver window track slips when I was loading it on the trailer after bringing it to the dealership, so I have to exit via sunroof (high trailer sides+low clearance vehicle). Brought it home feeling totally defeated and it sat on the trailer in storage for approx 5 months. Now it's winter time and I need a project while we're all snowed in. Brought it into my shop, aptly called "Last Chance Garage". I took off the door panel to get the window sorted out and there's evidence of moisture intrusion near the bottom door seals.. there's a slightly nicked side which I trace to the BCM. I unplug it to test the compromised wire's continuity, of course it tests fine and there's no pin for the wire on the BCM anyways so what does it matter... WAIT, THERE ARE NO PINS!?! Turns out that moisture travelled down the wire and corrosion are them entirely, only blue stains remained.There's no mention of any similar experiences online, not even a crumb in the niche forums or the large active FB groups. I sourced another BCM online that was OEM and surprisingly low priced. I throw some more money into the pit for the last time before I strip the body kit, other desired parts, and scrapping it. Plugged it in after I reflashed it (simmer down EPA, it's the stock flash) and, voila! The car runs flawlessly and hasn't had any hiccups since.
I love driving such a nice sleeper that's quick and comfortable, even after making me question my choice of hobby and sanity!
