🃏 Today's Episode
Hello, everybody, and welcome to the second episode of The Gamblers Heist! I'm your host, Brohmarr, and tonight we'll be playing the solo version of the dungeon crawler game "Regicide" (this one supports from 1 to 4 players, but, as stated before, we'll be playing it as a single player).
In this game, we have to defeat the Jacks, Queens, and Kings in the Castle by playing the remaining cards of a standard 52-card deck, but they’ll attack back if we aren’t careful, so take your time planning each turn!
Now, let's review the game rules.
>> Preparing the Board
First, we take all the Kings, Queens, and Jacks from the deck. Then, we shuffle the 4 Kings and put them on the table, face down, shuffle the Queens and put them on top of the Kings, and repeat that for the Jacks.
Now we have our Castle ready, composed of 4 randomly placed Jacks at the top, followed by the 4 Queens, and finally the 4 Kings.
Next, we place the 2 Jokers faced up, side-by-side, next to the Castle and shuffle the rest of the deck, placing it face down on the table; that's our Tavern, from where we'll draw our cards!
>> Game Rules
We start by drawing 8 cards from the Tavern and flipping the top card of the Castle, to reveal our first enemy.
The goal of the game is to clear the Castle, defeating all the 12 enemies there, but, if we are rendered unable to play a card or can't defend against an enemy attack, it's game over.
> The Numbered Cards
Each card deals damage to the enemy equals to their value, and you can combine cards of the same value (regardless of their suit) as long as their total sum doesn't exceed 10, e.g., two 5s or three 3s.
Aces, or "Animal Companions", are a special "numbered" card with a value of 1 that can be played with another card of your hand regardless of their value, e.g., an Ace and a 9, for a total of 10 damage.
Played cards go to the Discard Pile face down, next to the Tavern.
> The Suits
Each suit has a special power that will trigger before hitting the enemy, as follows:
- (H)earts: shuffle the Discard Pile and place the same amount of cards as our ATK value from its top to the bottom of the Tavern;
- (S)pades: reduces the ATK value of the enemy by the value of the combined Spades played;
- (D)iamonds: draw cards equal to your ATK value, or until your hand size is back to its starting size (8 cards);
- (C)lubs: double your attack value.
> The Enemies
Each enemy is immune to the ability of its own suit, and they are divided into 3 groups:
- (J)acks: 20 HP and 10 ATK;
- (Q)ueens: 30 HP and 15 ATK;
- (K)ings: 40 HP and 20 ATK.
When an enemy is left with exactly 0 HP, it is recruited and placed face down in the top of the Tavern, but if it received an overkill (e.g., 5 HP left and 8 damage received), it goes to the Discard Pile.
If an enemy survives an attack, it attacks us back, and we need to discard cards of, at least, its ATK value to continue.
Note that an enemy ATK value as a playable card is the same as in the "table" above, that their ability is the same as the numbered cards, based on their suit, and that it can only be played alone in an attack turn.
> Jokers
Twice per run, you can flip a Joker facedown at the start of your turn or right before receiving damage to discard your entire hand and draw 8 new cards from the Tavern.
🃏 Prizes
In this game, we have a total of 12 enemies.
If the players manage to clear the dungeon together, each participant will receive $20k per enemy defeated (totaling $240k). Moreover, the players have access to 2 jokers this time; if they manage to win the run without using any of them, they get a golden victory, and a Xanax is added to each individual prize pool; if they win after using only 1 joker, they get a silver victory, and 5 Ecstasies are added instead; finally, as you might have guessed, if they win after using both jokers, they get a bronze victory, and 5 Vicodins are added to the prize pool instead of the Ecstasies.
Otherwise, if the players are defeated, they will only get $10k per enemy defeated before their demise.
🃏 Interaction Rules
First, in each interaction, the first player to post a play will be taken into account for that turn, and all other responses after it will be ignored until I post the result of that player's action.
Now, in the previous game, there were quite a bit of people that wanted to play and couldn't find an opportunity for it. Because of this I'll be changing the player limiting factor this time: the same player can't act more than ONCE per TORN DAY (resetting at 00:00 TCT).
Also, if a player decides to use a Joker, I'll resolve their play, post the result, and that same player will have an 8h window to complete their action after the new hand is drawn. Otherwise, the first player to post an action after my response will be taken into account.
I hope this helps to make room for more people to enjoy this experience together!
PS: Comments analyzing the game are allowed (I'm looking at you, MerryBerry! lol), I just ask all of you to try and keep the thread as clean as possible, to not disrupt the game flow too much.
