- Why do you want to be a helper, and what do you believe are the most important responsibilities of a moderator in Torn?
to keep the unruly citizens of torn in check. theodore roosevelt said to speak softly and whack people with a big stick or whatever, and people respect big sticks. the bigger the stick, the better. as you can tell, i feel like the most important resposbonsibility of being a moderator in torn is not abusing power.
2. Describe a time you witnessed or were involved in a conflict or rule-breaking in Torn. How did you respond, and what was the outcome?
saw factions members arguing about a member's behavior during a rw, responded by noting each of their arguments to weaponize against each other for future reference, which successfully quieted down these noisy little sheep whose prattle interrupted the peace of the ALPHA wolf. the ALPHA WOLF.
3. If you saw a player toeing the line of the rules or intentionally provoking others without breaking them outright, how would you react?
these little noisemakers who like toeing the line of the rules have to be taught a lesson, by making sure to catch them when they slip up, when even a single centimeter of their little tippie toe crosses the line they're immediately caught and made an example of, showing those with the same idea what their fate is.
4. What do you believe are the biggest challenges Torn's staff currently face? How would you help address them?
the biggest challenges torn's staff currently face is probably the abuse of staff power. the responsibilities of staff are to be kind and welcoming, understanding and generous to the players of torn, greeting them with warm smiles. be the change you want to see in the world.
5. What recent change or update in Torn sparked strong reactions from the community? How would you have responded to complaints about it as staff or shared your own dissatisfaction?
a relatively recent update in torn that sparked strong reaction from the community was the update of the travel base capacity from +5 to +10, and the reduction of the PI travel capacity boost from +10 to +5, making torn more accessible and forgiving, thus lowering the gap between the mighty bourgeoisie and lowly proletariat. i'd respond to complaints about that by giving an understanding statement such as not all changes in torn are percieved positively by all players while spamming anonymouse upvotes on forum posts about how bad the new change was.
6. What is your general impression of the Torn community and its culture and how would you contribute to maintaining an inclusive, positive and fair environment?
general impression of the torn community is that while they're an unruly bunch, they have a sprinkle of kindness and generosity in them, with a willingness to foster and accomodate players of all types and skill levels. i'd contribute to maintaining an inclusive positive and fair environment in torn by shutting down and oppressing all speech that says others, but in an inclusive positive and fair way :).
7. How familiar are you with Torn's rules and enforcement history? Are there any rules you think are frequently misunderstood by players?
somewhat familiar with torn's rules and enforcement history, a rule that is frequently misunderstood by players is the impersonation rule, with all these posers acting like they know anything about the game without ever having touched the wiki.
8. If accepted, what would your personal goals as a helper/moderator be? Would you be interested in progressing further in staff, or is this your ideal role?
if accepted, some goals as a helper/moderator might be to open a forum where players can ask advice and recieve wisdom from the all-knowing empero-cough moderator. progressing further in staff has benefits, if that comes along that's fine if i find the current position suitable that's also fine.
9. What device do you primarily use to play Torn? (PC/Mobile?)
of course PC, using extension and scripts on mobile is a nightmare, and the user outerface is not that great on mobile.
10. Do you have any experience moderating other games, platforms, or communities? If so, which, and what did you learn from it?
no, but there's a first time for everything. experience is a lot easier to obtain than the qualities of a leader when starting out.
