So more than 60 days have passed and I want to share what i learned over the days so that new players dont make the same mistake i did and even surpass me and enjoy the game more.

Torn is an enduring text-based crime MMO where your empire is built not overnight, but over months (and years!) of cunning, strategy, and persistence. This guide smoothly blends quick tips, deep dives, and proven strategies so you can dodge my mistakes and get on the path to riches, power, and notoriety.

1. Embrace the Marathon—Not a Sprint

Torn rewards time and consistency. Logging in a few times daily to spend energy and nerve, consistently training, and building connections over time will always trump attempting to rush progress or chase every trend.

2. Your First Days in Torn

Focus on the Gym

• Spend your early energy trains in the gym. Raising your base stats (Strength, Defense, Speed, Dexterity) to at least 300-400 each gives you confidence to both defend yourself and win fights.

• Don’t waste energy on attacking unless pursuing leveling targets or money-makers.

Beginner Jobs

• Start with a city job: Army, Grocer, or Casino. Army is popular for the strength gain via job points.

• As soon as possible, seek a player company (especially a 3★+ Music Store or Sweet Shop) for boosted stat rewards or useful perks.

3. Leveling Up: Hitting Level 15 Fast

Why? Level 15 unlocks international travel, the primary route to easy early money (importing plushies, flowers, etc.). Here’s how to turbo-charge your progress:

• Attack smart: Use resources like [Baldr's Leveling Targets] to find easy XP. Always select “Leave” after winning a fight for full XP.

• Train evenly: Focus on keeping stats balanced—being weak in one area leaves you vulnerable.

• Drugs (in-game!): Xanax boosts energy to train more, though watch out for overdoses and addiction.

• Happy jumps: Use Ecstasy and candies together during booster cooldowns for maximum stat spikes.

4. Money Making for Newbies

Legit Strategies

• Item Market Arbitrage: Buy 100 items daily from city shops (beer, plushies, pepper spray, lollipops) and sell to other players below market price for reliable profit.

• International Trading: Once you reach level 15, fly overseas, buy unique flowers/plushies, and sell for big margins at home. Use Site like YATA to know which items have the most profit and which countries you can visit and Arson Warehouse to see your landing time and the items which will be available to you once you land(very important to land when the items are in stock). Make sure to set a timer for when you land as you get a 15 second protection window to buy thing and leave before people can start attacking and mugging you or putting you in the hospital

• Flip for friends: Trade in-demand items on the forums or through trade chat for bigger, safer deals.

• Jobs: Focus on companies with perks over salary early on; long-term, high stat jobs can pay more.

• Bazaar: You can scout the bazaars to find high priced items for 1 dollar. You may see many items locked as the 1 dollar items are purely RNG. Don't worry if everything is locked in 1 particular Bazaar the other bazaars may have items unlocked for you.

High-Risk, High-Reward

• Selling losses ("slutting"): Some players will pay steeply to win attacks against you. Never take low offers (e.g. 30-50k); go to the Attacking Forum or join discord servers like Nebula corp or Bounty Hunters guild for real buyers—aim for 250k+ per loss. Weigh this against the gym XP you’re forgoing.

• Mugging/Crimes: Profitable for the bold, but you’ll make enemies and need good stats. Start with simple “search for cash” crimes and move up as your nerves and crime experience grow.

• Creative hustles: Design graphics for players, write for the Torn City Times, or even participate in games hosted the Fun and Games forums

5. Join a Faction Early (But Choose Wisely)

• Seek out factions with 200k+ respect, strong perks, a supportive community, a stocked armory, and bonuses (free meds, Xanax, money, etc.).

• Consider if their faction focus aligns with your goals: warring, trading, reviving, etc.

• When applying, introduce yourself and explain why you’re a good fit. Community matters—don’t just send generic requests.

• Many top factions have sub-factions welcoming new players. Growing your skills here can open doors to bigger alliances over time.

6. Protect Your Wealth

• Keep cash out of your wallet! Use the faction vault, Torn Bank, piggy bank , or a stock ticker to keep loot safe from muggers.

• Don’t dwell on revenge if mugged. Avoid keeping large balances on hand and focus energy on growth, not retribution.

• Subscription/Donator Status: Great for boosting max energy, energy regen, and gaining valuable exclusive items. Monthly subscriptions offer bonus items only available through this route.

• Stay Active: The more you log in (even via mobile), the more resources you can spend efficiently—crucial for those early months.

• Lean on Others: Have questions or feel lost? Faction mates and the Torn forums are gold mines for advice and camaraderie.

• Don’t Give Up: Hit a grind wall? Try different crimes, join new factions, or seek out guides for niche interests. The more you play, the more Torn opens up to your playstyle.

Instructions

0.* Begin by stacking to 1000 energy with four Xanax and have no drug cooldown nor booster cooldown.

1.* First I will stack until 99K Happy & train
2. The first buyer USES (NOT send) 2x poison mistletoes on me to get 24k and then 18k happy

3. The first buyer uses enough EDVDs (1-3 usually) to get past 50k happy.

4. The first buyer double checks being above 50k happy. [**Important step**]

5. The first buyer uses ecstasy to double happy up to 99k. [**Drug cooldown must be at 0**]

6. The first buyer trains, with all available energy, including refills.

7. The first buyer will signal to me that he is completed and I will inform the next buyer in line

8. The remaining buyers repeat steps 2-7, but uses the 2x poison mistletoes on the previous buyer in jump order instead.

A common pitfall is to steal happy from the wrong person. Copy paste the name of the person you are stealing from, or use the ID numbers rather than the name, to make sure it's correct.

The Drunk Tank leadership constantly mug their own members. allegedly Farcough did the same before. 
The leaders dont give shit about the members since they dont want to start trouble with the main accused who is a "semi active" player.
Farcough raises this issue to the leadership and the their attitude is of a NPC who does nothing and not stop the same. Farcough leaves and again allegedly spends 10B on merc contracts. A dumb leader from the drunk tank made a post of using a DB on the faction that houses Farcough during halloweena and then the entire replies just prove how TDT is a shitty faction to join who as it does not care about their members

Rock paper scissors is a simple hand game played by two people who make specific shapes at the same time to see who wins.

You are a part of the faction for a long time so maybe raise the issue in your faction chat or in your discord and ask the leadership to behave more like leaders and not a NPC character who talks but wont take actions. 
Ask them to handle the faction matters internally before making a hugh threatening post aimed towards a whole faction + Innocent bystanders of the DB. 
Dirty laundry should not be aired in public unless there is no other option. 

I dare to prove your faction leaders dont have a history mugging members. 
Cause what your evidence shows is a pattern of (ex) leaders mugging members and the other leaders thinking its okay not to get involved so they hurt the muggers sentiments and/or face retaliations from the mugger. 

P.S. Stop trying to justify the post. The more you are trying to do so, the more its reflecting poorly. Accept the oversight by leadership and how they handled the situiation was bad and end this. Just try to not allow anyone in the faction be it leaders or members mugging someone from the faction family.

Factions are like family in torn. I was not a part of a lot of factions but the ones where i was, all of them were super helpful and friendly and always had each others back. Be it a 100k Respect faction or 10M respect faction, faction members should show other faction members decency 

So you mean to say leadership mugging faction members is a common thing in your faction. 
Great to hear that and i hope people dont keep balance in the vault cause the leaders dont seem to care for the members one bit and are more interested in keeping a semi active bully/(ex) Leader happy.

If Faction Leaders allow mugging within the faction then the problem is not the person questioning it (Irrespective of who the person is or his/her past in the faction), the problem is the leaders. You allow people in your leadership chat to mug other faction members right now. What next? The guy sees someone making a banking request and when the leadership send the balance he mugs the person instantly?

Wait till you hear about 15 year old account who have edu left.
