To use on rival companies and temporarily decrease employee effectiveness or something. Or at least just so that company directors can send out pizza to everyone as a "Holiday Bonus." After all, we're all family here!

Clutch Buying Evaluation · · 5 likes

Well, I did it! I've officially opened 10,000 clutches. Here's what I learned:

TL;DR

Up top because I know y'all are lazy like me. Or maybe not like me, I just clicked "open" 10,000 times. RIP my pointer finger. Can we please have an "open all" button??? Some people are insane and buy 10,000 clutches.

Date: 22/10/2025

Break-Even Point (Market Price): $7,507.20

Break-Even Point (All In Bazaar): $7,706.08

So, how much should clutches go for in the market? Honestly, I feel like around $7,500 is reasonable. Can you make more from them if you're not a dunce and don't just willy nilly monkey brain activate post 'em for the number on the screen? Of course. But we're talking market price here. If you're just opening 'em a couple times and not 10,000 times like a crazy person you'll likely just end up with $10, a receipt, and still no meaningful human connection.

Important Notes:

The first important disclaimer here is that if you're worried about nickels and dimes, never sell at market price. If you're worried about pence and pounds, you're in the wrong country mate. For some reason, this game is in Dollars. Or Torn Bucks or something. T-Bucks. Maybe it should be a T with some lines through it. Is that just an E? Or an I or something? Anyway.

That being said, I feel like figuring out actual prices of items is one of the important learning curves in this game, so unless y'all really want it for some reason, I'll keep my actual selling prices to myself, thank you.

The second important thing to note here is that while I listed most items at market prices, I did not do so for items that are easy to sell in the city. Namely, Driver's Licenses, Tasers, and Butterfly Knives. Most of the time, there's no real reason to sell those in the market. Eventually I did start stacking up the Driver's Licenses in my Bazaar, just so newbies can use them for a bit of cash protecting without myself taking a hit. It's up to you if that sort of lily-livered thoughtfulness is worth it to you, however.

Break-Even Point (Market Price): $7,507.20

This is relevant if you sell everything in the market with the 5% fee taken out of anything sold. Personally, I sold the majority of items on the item market just because they'll move faster (and occasionally for more $$$) and I don't want to completely clog up my bazaar, but once again, that's up to you. Items that I found to move fairly quickly even in my bazaar are Bank Statements, Medical Bills, Driver's Licenses, and Receipts. Mostly things that more experienced players use (and thus they probably understand how this mess of a bazaar system works better, or have downloaded the scripts to search them).

Break-Even Point (All In Bazaar): $7,706.08

Eh, f*ck it. I already said what I wanted to in the previous paragraph. You can figure this one out for yourself.

Ok, fine, for all y'all slow ones out there, I still calculated this with "market prices" but without the 5% fee. Happy?

It's the spreadsheet. What more do you want?

Profit       $ 592,005   $ 2,580,778
Break Even       $ 7,507.20   $ 7,706.08

There were a few interesting things here, such as my actual break even point being closer to the mid $8,000s. It actually ended with a 69. Nice.

So, do I think they should be listed for closer to that price point? Not really. Yeah, there's some money to make there from buying and opening clutches, but to be honest it isn't worth the time. Maybe if you're real f*ckin broke, but if you're down that bad just make up some story to put in the confessionals in exchange for a donator pack like the rest of 'em. Or actually do something stupid then submit it. I can't tell ya what to do, I'm not your real dad.

Sincerely,

Your Perilous Guide.

Edit: Yeah, I did consider doing this for as many supply packs as I could, and even started with Zip Wallets, but even if I had the money to do more interesting packs I'm not sure I have the willpower. Or cartilage left in my clicking finger.

Clutch Buying Evaluation ·

Haha nice man!

I used the torn.report visual too, but I wanted it broken down to a bit more realistic numbers, rather than just market price for everything! Was it worth the effort? Maybe. If you really think about it, is anything in this life worth the effort? Maybe not, but maybe so. Just gotta live the darn thing and find out ;)

I thought about doing billfolds and such, but I appreciate your sacrifice brother :)

Hey man!

There's a few people graduating Uni that are the same age as your Torn account! So that's fun

Manage to hit any other, obviously somewhat less life altering, life goals in the meantime?
