A chat for lv 13-30, or like 2 months of ingame time.
I had a staff member the other day tell a bunch of us in NPC that "most people don't last more than 2 months in torn". That got me wondering how many more people might be online right now if there was a social outlet for them other than Faction chat or Global, which was what was recommended to me. New player chat is fun. There's new people constantly, people are lively, there's probably a mod warning someone to chill with some certain action.. It's a trip and a time, and it's kept me coming back every day for almost a month now. As I get closer to losing access to NPC I find myself hesitant to level past 12, for fear of losing the social aspect of the game at the hands of people infinitely stronger than myself who can (and will) put me in the hospital for a week for the hell of it.
My reasoning for this idea - one of the greatest features of most MMO games is the random interactions you have with people. You develop friendships w/ the random guy you met running to the middle of BFE in runescape, you randomly come across a funny name in WOW.. etc etc.
Having a step-up chat before you're thrown into global might entice people to stick around, being both able to ask for help and chat with other people while not being in fear of the lurking chat sniper they have no chance against. This could even go side-by-side with global. A new-ish (?) player chat, I feel, would help retain a lot of people who get to global and then lose the social aspect they grew to enjoy in NPC, and player retention helps everyone from players and factions to the company itself.
Another alternative to this idea that was mentioned to me would be a group chat function, so people can still communicate with their friend group without having to be in the same faction, per se. (credit to Solaire)

I’m gonna be so real when I ask this but how many “honest mistakes” can be made at other people’s expense and the public still point at the guy given the money as the bad guy?
like.. we’re really at a point where it becomes “if it wasn’t me it would’ve been someone else”..
