Today marks my exact 1-year anniversary in Torn, and boy, what a year it’s been. I wanted this shown to the public (even if I get whacked for it) and also give some visible achievements for newer players. 17:58:42 - 25/07/26 You were awarded the medal: One Year of Service (Live in Torn for one year)
I found the game on a boring workday in an Instagram ad. Signed up to check it out with no clue how much time and effort (and money) I would be putting into the game later. Well here I am with 982 hours of active time with an unbroken login streak (and blue name).
During my first few days, I just blindly stumbled around doing whatever I thought made sense, completely ignoring every message I got from faction invites to loss-buying offers. I was shy, and since English isn't my native language, I was worried I'd get ridiculed. For some reason I felt I should reply to O-Mega-Moore's faction recruit message who is still my faction's Co-lead. He wanted me to learn to war while I had no clue what he was talking about so I inquired back and that's how it started for me. Joining my first and only faction (Frozen Tooth Gang) was for me probably the best I could have done. I had gotten help both with items and guidance on the game. Without it, I would have been long gone from the game. This is what I would recommend to every new player: find a faction that you can call your home. If the one you are in doesn't fit your needs, leave and join another one—I'm sure you will find your place.
This faction became my Torn family and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Slowly I opened up and then more aggressively I had earned my place in the faction and also found my footing in the game at the same time. Started reading the forum and the wiki ingesting more and more information, taking more and more responsibility in my faction, making friends and improving my English knowledge. Currently I'm involved with new player guidance for our sibling faction, chain and war organization and basically anything else you would expect from somebody involved in a small faction' day to day life. When I joined we were a bronze-silver faction and now we are firmly in Gold hopefully soon to be Platinum.
Did I spend on the game shamelessly? Yes. Do I regret it? Not for a second.
Personal achievements related to the game
- Coding is actually fun: Realized coding can be enjoyable despite hating it in school. I ended up coding our faction banner for easy customization, writing a few personal user scripts, and building our own internal RW payout system instead of relying on third-party tools. - Got much more confident with my English - Made great new friends and realized I actually thrive on high responsibility when it's appreciated.
Ingame achievements
- Top 3 RW scorer in my faction consistently - 3k hits and almost 1.3k is from wars - Over 15m TBS - Over 70k job stats - Networth over 6,5 billion - 366 merit points available and a few still needs to be purchased - Lvl 100 in 4 crimes and close to finishing 2 more - Over 850 Xanax taken, 3 a day since not doing jumps (and when not in a war) - Soon turning 1 year with my faction and also with my game spouse - 6 books collected - Found a parachute in the city - Terrifying basket on first halloween (776 treats) and 5 meat hooks.
Focus for the next year
- Gain more stats - Even more merits - Reach lvl 80 - Unlock George's gym - Get into a 10* Lingerie Store for long term - Get some new shiny gear - Help more players in our faction family to reach their goals - Finish the Halloween basket and make some profit
Hopes
-Ignorance is bliss book - Get a PI from daily wheel spin - Trout Leslie to death - Receive a Ladso's Eye - Get invited into a special club
Thanks
My faction for making my experience as good as it can be. Special thanks for O-Mega-Moore [2175926] for inviting me. And everyone else with whom I have interacted in a positive way for making my game time feel worth it
If you have read this far, I thank you very much for investing your time in my ramblings. If you feel lost in the game or in your faction then change it, don't invest time into something which isn't worth it
Sorry for formating looking like sh*t😅 I'm not a writer
I came to give voice to my frustration on the new RW system. We WERE a PLATINUM faction before the new system. We stayed at PLATINUM (0) even tho we won 2 matches in a row but whatever it's the new system. We lost 1 (2) big players but player count only dropped by 1 and we got put down to GOLD (0) but our enemy is the same rank as before.
Dear @Devs Why did our war earnings get HALVED cause the new system thought we are now a GOLD (0) faction other than cucking us for the $? If the enemy is the same rank and stat as before and YOU decide which rank we are why are we losing both $ and "standing"? Their top player was still over all of our stats so not like the war became easier because of the stats. This needs to be fixed otherwise just put 1 of the factions to bronze every war and let them enjoy a 200m reward with lower player counts.
Thought new system was meant to move away from stats but looks like it moved away in matchmaking but now can just easily lock you in a bad rank to take your earnings.
You want bigger payouts? Get big players or filler newbs that's correct?
That's my issue. now if we have our bigs guesting somewhere for a reason we have to find filler 1b or higher dudes to keep rewards even if they are making 0 hits.

which I'm not challenging as it's true our stats dropped quite significantly but I wouldn't say enemy was so much easier even so before we had a chance in beating the biggest with group attacks but in this one we didn't. But to also take away the money while imo we are going a similar faction than before is a quite bad solution.
