Would like to find a community of likeminded/hobby people on Torn. I am from the US, have been enjoying my occasional pipe or cigar traveling to a lounge or on my porch.
I have been really focused on pipes here lately, convenience, aroma, time, and price. But when I can sit down and enjoy a cigar for the full length of the smoke it’s great. I’m a big fan of aromatics and light blends.

Hey everyone,
Seeing a lot of new faces around Torn lately — welcome to the City! 👋
If you’re still in your first few levels and trying to figure out how to actually make progress without wasting energy, cash, or nerves, here’s a quick, no-nonsense breakdown of how to level up smart and efficiently.
⚙️ 1. Understand What “Level” Really Means
Your level isn’t just your rank — it’s tied to how much experience you’ve gained through combat and activity.
- Level doesn’t equal strength.
- Stats, money, and efficiency matter way more than level early on.
- You’ll level automatically over time — the trick is to build strong before you hit higher-level opponents.
🏋️ 2. Focus on Your Stats First
Your battle stats (Strength, Speed, Dexterity, Defense) determine whether you win fights — not your level.
Tips:
- Join a gym immediately and train regularly.
- Use your energy mostly on gym training for the first week or two.
- Avoid attacking higher levels unless you’re confident — losing fights slows you down.
- Don’t waste energy on random crimes until you have decent stats.
💼 3. Get a Good Job Early
Work gives you passive income, job points, and long-term benefits.
Best starter jobs:
- Grocer or Casino (for steady early money)
- Army (for better strength gains)
- Medical (later helps with faster healing)
Check the Job Listings page and apply — it’s worth it even if you only log in once a day.
💰 4. Manage Money Like a Pro
Money disappears fast in Torn if you don’t plan.
Do this:
- Buy Xanax only when it’s worth it (for training boosts once your stats are higher).
- Save early money for education courses and better housing — both boost long-term gains.
- Avoid gambling or stock investing at low levels — you’ll need that cash for essentials.
🧠 5. Start Education ASAP
Education is slow but powerful — it unlocks perks like faster training, better job options, and improved crimes.
Always keep a course running in the background. Even if it feels slow, it’s huge later on.
🩸 6. Don’t Rush Fights
When you fight, make it count:
- Target inactive or weak players (search under “Level 1–5” and check their profiles).
- Use a weapon and armor — even basic gear gives an edge.
- Only attack if you’re confident in your stats. Losing costs you energy and time.
🏠 7. Join a Faction
This is probably the most important step for new players.
Factions give:
- Training bonuses
- Stat gains
- Helpful veterans to guide you
- Access to faction crimes and territories (extra income later)
Ask around — most factions are happy to take active new players.
🕓 8. Be Patient and Consistent
Torn rewards patience and routine. Log in daily, train, do your crimes, and chip away at goals.
You’ll notice a massive difference between a player who logs in consistently and one who burns out trying to rush.
💬 Final Advice:
- Don’t chase level-ups — chase efficiency.
- Train hard, save smart, and learn how the systems interact.
- Read the forums and wiki — Torn has a deep economy and social system worth mastering.
You’ll be amazed how strong you’ll feel by level 10 if you build properly from level 1.
Good luck out there — and remember, Torn rewards the clever, not just the active. 💀
