What settings are appropriate for pda mobile usage? Because I’m having a very annoying issue with accurately switching between brute force or open modal I’m having to open the setting menu and switch the option normal click back and forth to appropriately use the buttons otherwise it doesn’t work properly. Say I have open modal set to shift click and brute force normal click if I click on an available square and then on my keyboard press the shift button twice (once to turn it off and then again to turn it back on so the script recognizes the shift) the option will appear to change to open modal but clicking on open modal will result in a brute force action wasting nerve… it also works the same way vice versa.

Six months later, I know this topic is dead, but I was going back through some of my old forum interactions and laughing at myself over the majority of the noob comments I used to make. 😂 I also realized there’s apparently no way to erase the stamp you’ve left behind… Ched, you evil genius. 😈
Then I came across this post that I liked six months ago, and it made me realize just how awesome Hyperreal was for handling the sale the way he did.
After another six months of playing the game (which I know is nothing compared to how long TORN has been around), I’ve had plenty of opportunities to come across some real arssholes. I’ve witnessed my fair share of unbelievably entitled players, some who make threats and actually follow through, and others who definitely don’t. What still baffles me, though, is how difficult it can be for some people to simply accept that they made a mistake.
People make mistakes. Sometimes you’re on the winning end of someone else’s mistake, and sometimes you’re not so lucky. That’s just part of the game.
When I first started playing, I bought a ranked war weapon from someone’s bazaar at a ridiculously marked-up price. The whole point of the pricing was to discourage buy-muggers. Of course, I didn’t realize that until after I bought it, because I hadn’t read their bazaar description. 😂
And then I discovered that their description basically said, “If you actually buy a RW weapon for this price, feel free to mug me and get some of that money back.”
Obviously, I was nowhere near strong enough to even think about mugging them, so I chalked it up as a learning experience and never made that mistake again.
When you get caught slipping, sometimes you just have to chalk it up to the game gods, learn from it, and keep it pushing. 🤷🏻♀️ Kudos to Hyperreal for being the type of player who can acknowledge another players lucky break without creating unnecessary drama.
Nominating the jerk who mugged me for $5.38M the second I landed back in Torn — right towards the end of our 25k chain.
I had just flown in for a necessary rehab (business class because I was squeezing it between shifts), opened my bazaar while flying to sell stuff for my upcoming payment due( 2weeks 98M trains), and I passed out 40-50M in premium E cans to the other chain watchers so I was seriously a broke B. I almost never open my bazaar during chaining to avoid exactly this… but I needed the cash.
Total cost of the trip: 750k rehab + 7M BC ticket + 5.38M mug.
Wouldn’t be as pissed if they’d actually bought something from me first… but nah.

I don’t know if you’re still curious about the answer to this or not but I’m fairly certain I may be able to shed some light on this… And before someone asks me if I have a company or ever had the answer is no but I did help my last director get 7 stars from a 0 stars 0 days company in 3 months before leaving for a new job. So a little background on how I became knowledgeable… when I first started Torn I thought I was going to be the biggest entrepreneur to ever play the game lol I quickly learned that Owning a company was not the thing to do as a new player and that a lot of OPs don’t profit from their companies at all so I put all my big ideas to rest but I learned a lot in the process.
Torn is a PVP game and owning a company is no different. That’s likely why you’ve ranked down if you haven’t changed any single variable that could shift the balance and throw you out of the “sweet spot” (sweet spot is the right combination between product prices, your advertising budget on weekdays/weekends, your EE and your employee positions). The variables you had set in place were working for you until some of the directors with a company 1 rank below you started getting better numbers than you. Their daily weekdays and weekend profits suddenly surpassed your company and probably a handful of others as well and that’s why you’ve ranked down without changing anything to how you were running your company. The PVP aspect will always be a variable that you have no control over, all you can do is monitor the company listings for your type of company and watch the bottom 10-20 companies in your current rank as well as the top 10-20 companies in the rank just below yours. If the top 20 companies 1 rank below are earning more than the bottom 20 companies at your current rank then these will be the companies ranking up and down on Sunday (ASSUMING THAT ALL TIME SALES ARE EQUIVALENT FOR THE RANK UP) so just make sure that you don’t fall below the top earners for the rank below yours and you won’t rank down. This also works for measuring a rank up so keep that in mind. The pvp aspect of companies is the very reason that company directors have to get creative in order to just break even. Companies probably weren’t intended be such a costly endeavor. The company directors competing for those stars is what made owning a company such a costly decision. It starts with a director who is willing to operate at a loss because they can afford it and because they likely find the specials worth the price they are paying out of pocket each week to keep that 10 rating. And subsequently the rest of the directors have to follow suit raising their advertising budgets to keep up with other companies earnings, also a 9 star knows that all they have to do is make more money than bottom 10-20 10star companies in order to rank up and so the profit margins disappeared completely. Another thing that I would suggest changing a bit is the -15 addiction and Sunday rehabs rule.. yes Sunday is when the weekly ranks are published but an employee’s addiction levels effects how efficiently they do their jobs and that directly effects how much money you make per day which isn’t good for you because if a company a rank lower than you has little to no addiction then their employees will be able to earn the company a higher ratio of earning to advertising costs and if they spend just as much as you on advertising or even a little more than they are going to rank up and you’ll rank down. It’s important to keep addictions low as possible all the time. Also a promoter with high addiction will not get you as much out of your advertising budget as a promoter with no addiction the entire week would. Sunday rehabs are mando but they aren’t the only important day to rehab. Anyways I hope that you found this useful.
other possibilities that could effect the balance is if you start training your employee in a different state than you were training them in before, and my other thought was that maybe you just had an unlucky week where most of your employees all averaged a higher addiction level than they typically do (events, wars and chains can cause this to happen)
So if you find this answer to be probable then maybe give it a thumbs up so other people with the same question have a better chance of seeing this response. and if you feel like this is misinformation than I welcome you to state the facts that disprove my explanation since I know I can provide the facts and information that proves my response and reasoning is true
I think you’re awesome for starting this forum and I think that all the d bags that came along just to throw shade at you are probably the same d bags that think they know everything about this game but also will be the ones who pretend like they don’t know how to do a happy jumps anymore because “it’s been so long since they’ve done one” and then refer you to yet another OG player who will give you a basic response with a link to Baldrs guide or something just like it… AT BEST. And yes it can be very difficult to get straight answers from other players! The most helpful people on Torn (outside of the group of Torn Helpers) are all of the newer players who are just a little bit further into the game or have just recently discovered the answers to the same questions they see the other fresh meat players asking! And that’s because WE KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS TO GET A SOLID AND RESOURCEFUL RESPONSE TO ANY OF OUR QUESTIONS!!
I can also say from personal experience that it’s difficult to get information outside of the very select few people who are actually willing to take the time to explain things to YET ANOTHER NOOB, and that’s only if you MIGHT have been lucky enough to come across them but basically you’ll get the same generic responses with links to the same guides that people refer you to whenever you have questions. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE PLETHORA OF MISLEADING AND CONTRADICTING GUIDES!! (some very useful and accurate but there are also tons of others that are complete rubbish and might even be written by one of the a holes who came into this thread attempting to assert their “superiority “ by insulting you and dismissing your ability to actually have learned anything over the course of 3 months) BTW when I was going to school our terms were trimesters and I can 100% confirm that a whole bunch of knowledge can be obtained within 3 months!.
I can understand why veterans are less than eager to explain the same exact information to another noob though. For 1) A LOT OF PLAYERS START OUT STRONG AND THEN JUST QUIT. So it could very well end up being a huge waste of time. 2) Torn is a PVP game and nobody understands this quite like a veteran does. 3) repeating the same information over and over it tedious and it gets old FAST 4) TORN’S community has evolved over time and maybe the OPs had to learn everything the hard way so they are less willing to help the noobs fast track their progress 5) because of the PVP style of game play nobody really wants to help out the next player or next faction that could end up being their competition later on and that’s why the longer you stick around your faction and the more they trust that you’re going to be around for a while the more people are willing to do for you.
ANYWAYS UZUMAKIKAGE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND BEYOND HELPFUL. HE WOULDNT GIVE ANYONE WRONG INFORMATION EITHER, HE WOULD DO HIS RESEARCH AND MAKE SURE HE WAS OFFERING A THOROUGH AND CORRECT ANSWER TO ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BECAUSE THATS THE TYPE OF PLAYER HE IS.
