To mitigate scams, I propose that Torn develop a new casino clearinghouse API. This API would facilitate the legitimate operation of these services and would need to incorporate functionalities for recording a prize pool, entrant IDs, ticket entities (whether monetary or item-based), a definitive rulebook, and additional tertiary tracking mechanisms.
This system would be responsible for brokering tickets, executing established rules and random number generation (RNG), distributing rewards, levying applicable fees, and publicly documenting all results. It is my belief that once widely adopted, scams would virtually disappear, as it would become common knowledge that services not utilizing the "tornClearingHouse" risk losing community trust.
Players would then have access to a comprehensive list of registered casinos they have joined, a ledger detailing their transaction history, and the ability to cross-reference this information with what is displayed on the host's Discord server, thereby fostering a sense of security in their community participation.
Don't sqelch creativity, foster safe mechanisms to encourage growth.
The only concern would be if the service paid for is a digital third-party benefit, like buying an nft, a pfp, or just "for fun", where the reward cannot be brokered into a torn players inventory. That area would need further ideation.
Well yeah. I'd never choose this over making the core game more immersive and refined. But I think the idea, which really aims for creating trustworthy player-run raffles and not so much about the pure "casino" gambling side would be a good addition for engagement.
