Gratitude for the Veterans Who Still cares. · · 120 likes

I started Torn just a few days ago and

just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the high-ranked, experienced players who still take time to help beginners like me.

When you’re new in Torn, everything feels overwhelming — stats, chains, drugs, travel, jobs, mistakes you don’t even know you’re making yet. Having someone patiently explain things, answer “stupid” questions, or simply point you in the right direction makes a massive difference.

I want to specially mention two players who went out of their way to help me more than once:

Austin_Cash [3304119]

CR0C [3671963]

Their guidance saved me from bad decisions, helped me understand mechanics properly, and honestly made the game more enjoyable. Players like this are the reason Torn feels like a real community, not just a numbers game.

To all new players: don’t be afraid to talk, ask, and socialize early. There are peoples out there who genuinely want to help —

you just have to reach out. ❤️

[TUTORIAL] Torn Beginner Roadmap – What to Do, What NOT to Do, and How to Progress Smartly

Hi everyone 👋

I’m a new player and I struggled a LOT at the start because Torn doesn’t really tell you what to do.

This post is a collected beginner guide based on real newbie questions, mistakes, and solid advice from experienced players.

If you’re new and confused, this is for you.

====================================

FIRST 48 HOURS – DO THIS

====================================

1) Sell junk items immediately

• Sell on ITEM MARKET (not pawn shop)

• Examples: candy, blank DVDs, bottles, fuel, cheap electronics, extra clothes

• Deposit money into BANK right away (mug-proof)

2) Rush to LEVEL 5

• Use ALL energy on ATTACKS

• Attack inactive level 2–4 players

• Always choose “LEAVE” after winning (best XP early)

• Don’t train in gym before level 5

3) Join a beginner faction

• Search factions with words: beginner / training / active

• Apply politely:

  “New active player (L4–5), learning fast, online daily.”

====================================

LEVELING – HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS

====================================

• Attacking MUCH higher level players gives very good XP

• Attack players higher than your level  use this  Boulder's guidelines

• Level 4 → 5 usually takes ~15–25 proper wins

• Always LEAVE after fight when leveling

Goal:

• Level 5 → unlock missions & faction usefulness

• Level 15 → unlock travel (big money)

====================================

MONEY – EARLY GAME SMART FINANCE

====================================

• BANK is safe – always deposit cash

• Interest is paid when term ends

• Re-deposit after maturity

High value items – DON’T waste early:

• Xanax

• Feathery Hotel Coupon

• Donator Pack

Best options:

• SELL for millions

• OR keep as emergency/future use

Donator Pack vs Subscription:

• Pack = short boost + 60 points (can sell pack)

• Subscription = better long-term (90 points/month + gifts)

====================================

ENERGY & DRUGS – VERY IMPORTANT

====================================

• Energy is ONE pool

• Xanax only ADDS energy – once spent, it’s gone

• No “Xanax energy” comes back later

Xanax rules:

• Use MAX 1 at a time

• Never stack casually

• Overdose is RNG (can happen anytime)

• Best used later (level 10–15+)

Early game:

• Save Xanax

• Use natural energy + meds during chains

====================================

CHAINS – HOW NOT TO SCREW UP

====================================

• Time zones matter (TCT = UTC)

• Make sure your and game time matches. press on the clock icon to know TCT (Torn clock time)

Before chain:

• Don’t cap energy

• Don’t take Xanax too early

• Hospitalize or idle if needed

During chain:

• Attack → use med → repeat

• Don’t panic and don't use meds early

• Follow faction instructions

====================================

MISSIONS – COMMON CONFUSION

====================================

Duke: “Show some muscles”

• Use MELEE only

• Fists, knife, crowbar, wrench work

• Attack weak target multiple times

• LEAVE after win

“Fire 250 rounds”

• Use gun

• Multi-round guns are best

• Misses count

• NPCs or weak players recommended

====================================

WEAPONS & ARMOR

====================================

• Weapons do NOT degrade

• Armor DOES lose quality when hit

• Broken armor is worthless – sell before 0%

Market tip:

• You cannot see armor quality on market

• Cheap armor usually = low quality

Best cheap melee:

• Crowbar (best)

• Wrench

• Macana

====================================

ITEMS – SELL OR KEEP?

====================================

SELL:

• Clicke on the item photo to know the ongoing average item market price.

• list items a tad bit lower than average price.

• Other mentioned items

• Blank DVDs

• Fuel

• Extra clothes

KEEP:

• Weapons

• Meds

• Mission items

• Travel items

• Piggy bank

Piggy Bank:

• You CANNOT check balance

• Must track deposits yourself

• Breaking returns money but destroys pig

====================================

HAPPY JUMPS – BEGINNER VERSION

====================================

Lollipop Jump:

• Eat 1 lollipop

• Go gym immediately

• Train one stat

• Cheap and safe for early levels

Avoid:

• Xanax jumps early

• Stacking drugs

====================================

SCAMS & DMs – STAY SAFE

====================================

• Ignore “secret phrase” tests

• Don’t send items/money

• Don’t click random links

• High-level ≠ trustworthy

====================================

USEFUL TOOLS

====================================

Torn PDA (Android):

• Allowed

• Faster than official app

• Needs LIMITED API key

Create API:

• Settings → API → Limited access

• Safe (read-only)

====================================

BEGINNER ROADMAP (2 WEEKS)

====================================

Day 1–3:

• Level 5

• Join faction

• Sell junk

• Bank money

Day 4–7:

• Missions

• Lollipop jumps

• Learn chains

Week 2:

• Level 10+

• Prepare for travel

• Start education

• Save Xanax

====================================

FINAL ADVICE

====================================

• Knowledge > money in Torn

• Don’t rush drugs

• Be reliable in faction

• Ask questions politely

• Slow progress = long-term success

Good luck, and welcome to Torn.

Torn for Complete Newbies — Quick Start, Smart Roadmap & Practical Tips

------------------------------–------

Welcome to Torn. It’s a slow, strategic MMO where knowledge > raw money most of the time. This post collects everything a true beginner needs to avoid the classic traps, level quickly, make early cash, join a faction properly, and prepare for chains/happy jumps. Read the “First 48 hours” checklist, then use the reference sections below when you need details.

Quick 48-Hour Checklist (do these first)

Sell junk, bank cash — list unwanted items on the Item Market, deposit your cash in the bank immediately.

Rush to level 5 — use energy on attacks (attack inactive level 2–4 players, always Leave after win).

Don’t train until you hit lvl 5.

Join a beginner / training faction — look for “beginners”, “training”, “Xanax provided”. Apply with a short message: “Active beginner (L4–5), daily player, learning.”

Don’t buy better weapons/armor early — stats > gear.

Create a Limited API key and install Torn PDA (Android) — it helps with timers/notifications and is safe if you use Limited API.

Leveling & XP — what actually works

Attack low/inactive players.

 Winning high-level players gives very good XP. use Boulder's guidelines https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=61&t=16034448&b=0&a=0&to=18301173

Always press “Leave” after a fight to maximize level XP gains when you’re early. Hospitalize/mug sometimes yield less XP.

Typical L4→L5: ~15–25 proper wins against appropriate targets (could be faster if you pick the right targets).

Until ~L15, prioritize leveling (attacks) → travel unlocks. After L15, switch to heavy gym training and travel money.

Money — quick wins and sane finance

Sell junk items now (item market, not pawn). Early sell list: blank DVDs, bottles, candy, cheap electronics, fuel, cheap clothing you won’t wear.

Deposit cash in bank immediately — it’s mug-proof and earns term interest (paid at term end). Reinvest or re-deposit once matured.

Donator Packs vs Subscription:

Pack: one-off ~31 days + 60 points (can be sold for in-game cash). Good if you want short-term boost or want to flip for money.

Subscription: better long-term value — 90 points monthly + monthly gifts and prize-draw entries. Best if you play consistently.

Item flipping & travel: when you hit L15, travel (e.g., UK/Argentina) buys plushies/flowers cheaply to sell for profit. Early travel is the big money maker for mid-game.

Stock ticker: useful to unlock; donator points can buy the ticker. Stocks/dividends are medium-term passive growth if you understand them.

Donator points: use refills (30pt) daily and ticker (50pt) early. Don’t hoard points unnecessarily.

Energy & Drugs — practical rules

Energy is one pool. Xanax just adds energy into the same pool — once spent it’s gone. There’s no separate “Xanax energy” that returns.

Natural regen: Donator regen is faster (5E every 10 min for donator vs 5E per 15 min standard) and cap = 150 for donator. Use this to plan.

Xanax:

Gives large instant energy (+250) but adds drug cooldown and OD risk.

Never stack Xanax casually. One well-timed Xanax before a chain/happy jump is better than several badly timed ones.

OD risk is RNG (small percent each use). You can OD even on the first use — manage risk by not stacking during cooldown.

Med (first-aid) usage: keep meds to use during chains — ideal pattern: attack until near low energy then use 1 med, rinse & repeat.

Chain planning & timing (practical)

Convert Torn time (TCT = UTC) to your local time. KSA = TCT +3. For example, 20:00 TCT = 23:00 KSA.

If you have drug cooldown running, don’t take Xanax right before the chain. Time your single Xanax ~3–4 hours prior to chain if the cooldown is clear.

If you have 20 meds: use them when energy is low in the chain. Don’t panic-use them early. One med per energy drop is good practice.

Hospital / idle to preserve energy — hospitalizing prevents regen (so you don’t cap) if you are at high energy with a long wait.

Missions — common tricky ones (how to finish)

Duke “Show some muscles”: You must deal Strength-based damage repeatedly (melee). Use fists, crowbar, wrench, or knife — melee only. Attack the same low-stat target repeatedly, always Leave after win. 5–10 wins usually finish it.

“Fire 250 rounds”: Fire 250 bullets (use a gun). Best: use a multi-round gun (Minigun, P90 or Negev) on NPCs or weak players so fights last longer and you burn many rounds per turn. Misses count.

For both missions: use cheap melee/guns and target NPCs/low-stat inactives.

Weapons & Armor — durability and buying advice

Weapons do NOT degrade with use. Buy a decent cheap weapon and it will last.

Armor DOES degrade — quality drops when it absorbs damage. When quality is low, sell before it hits 0% because broken armor is almost worthless.

You cannot check quality on market listings — the market hides exact quality. Price is your best hint: cheap = likely low quality. Early players often avoid armor until needed.

Best cheap melee weapons: Crowbar (best), Wrench, Macana. Fists are mission-safe.

Inventory & selling rules (beginner item guide)

Sell immediately (item market): candy, energy drinks, blank DVDs, fuel, cheap electronics, excess clothes (keep one armor set), beverage bottles, scrap metal, cheap consumables.

Keep: weapons, crowbar, first aid kit, travel/mission items, piggy bank if you own one, useful crime tools (rope/crowbar).

Piggy Bank: you cannot view balance after deposit. It’s locked; breaking returns everything but destroys the pig. Many get one from missions or buy on market.

Scams & DMs (safety)

If a high-level player DMs you with weird “secret phrase” tests (“tell me something only Lord Vega would know”), it’s almost certainly bait or social engineering.

Never send items, stats, or money, click random links, or accept “tests”. Be polite or ignore. Report persistent suspicious users.

Donator / Packs / Gifts & Play credit (payments)

Subscription gifts & prize draws: Monthly gifts (2 items) are guaranteed for subscribers on the 1st if subscribed at that time; prize draws are rare but can pay out large point wins. Not guaranteed to be game-changing each month but can be valuable long-term.

If you have limited Google Play credit you can buy Donator Pack (~$5) from Play. Many beginner players buy a Donator Pack and sell it for in-game cash immediately.

Beginner roadmap (step-by-step first 1–2 weeks)

Day 0–2

Sell junk — bank funds.

Rush L5 by attacking easy targets (Leave).

Join a friendly faction.

Day 3–7

Travel when L5: do first travel profit runs (plushies/flowers) — store cash.

Spend merits: education reduction first, then bank interest/crime success.

Finish short education (e.g., General Studies) when your current course ends then pick Business or Crime.

Week 2–4

Start lollipop happy jumps (cheap) to boost early gym gains; avoid using Xanax until around level ~10–15.

Get a Stock Ticker / start using Donator points for refills and the ticker.

Participate in faction OCs and chains — be reliable and follow orders.

Lollipop jump (beginner happy jump)

Items needed (beginner): 1 Lollipop (required), optional candy/chocolates. No Xanax required.

Steps: 1) Drain energy low → 2) Eat 1 Lollipop (and optional candies) to raise Happy → 3) Go to gym and spend all energy on one stat (Strength recommended) → 4) Repeat later when you can comfortably afford more candy or a chocolate jump.

Don’t do lollipop jumps right before important chains.

Drug overdose & safe drug use

OD is RNG — small chance each time. Stacking drugs or taking drugs during cooldown is the main avoidable risk.

Avoid stacking Xanax or taking multiple while on cooldown. One well-timed Xanax is safer than several random ones.

If you must preserve energy until chain, hospitalize or log off — do not waste Xanax early.

Torn PDA & API keys (mobile tool)

Torn PDA (Android) is a popular, allowed third-party app — use it.

Create a Limited API key (Torn -> Settings -> API -> create Limited key) and paste it into PDA. Limited keys only read info and cannot move money or act on your account — safe.

Forum post image embedding quick how-to

Upload image to Imgur / ImgBB → get the direct link ending .jpg/.png → use BBCode in forum: [img]https://i.imgur.com/abcd123.jpg[/img].

Common mistakes to avoid (don’t do these)

Don’t buy expensive armor/weapons early.

Don’t spend points or refills randomly. Save points for the stock ticker/refills first.

Don’t stack Xanax / use drugs without planning.

Don’t carry big cash outside the bank.

Don’t accept “secret tests” or random trades in DMs.

Mini-FAQ (short answers)

Do weapons degrade? No — weapons don’t lose quality. Armor does.

Can I check Piggy Bank balance? No. You must track deposits yourself.

Does a knife count for Strength missions? Yes — knife is melee; it counts.

Best cheap melee? Crowbar → Wrench → Macana → Fists are safe.

Minigun / P90 for rounds mission? Yes — multi-round guns burn ammo fast and finish the “fire X rounds” mission quickly.

Is Torn PDA better than the official app? For active players: yes (faster, better notifications). Use Limited API.

Closing — a short personal primer for new forum posters

Be humble and honest in faction/forum posts (newbies who sound genuine get noticed).

When asking for help: show level, faction status, cash, and immediate goal. E.g.: “L7, joined a faction, 700k banked, want to save for Xanax and travel — what should I do next?”

People reward reliability and politeness — show up for your faction, follow chain instructions, and you’ll get support, drugs, and freebies.

and most importantly-

Have fun! nothing can go wrong in Torn and nothing is permanent. so don't worry too much and enjoy your time dwellers!

I want to clear something up, because there seems to be a misunderstanding.

The appreciation in my post was never about handouts or material gain. The most valuable help I received was information, guidance, and direction—people explaining mechanics, pointing me to resources, or telling me what not to do so I didn’t burn money or time as a new player.

Yes, I’ve received some items along the way (metal detector, cemetery key, luggage, some cash etc), but I never directly asked anyone for them, never targeted specific players, and often only asked for discounts in faction or newbie chat. In fact, there were times I felt uncomfortable receiving expensive items and even tried to return them.

What mattered far more to me was learning:

why progress suddenly feels slow..

how stats, chains, cooldowns, jobs, and travel actually work?

where to find reliable information instead of guessing?

As someone who started barely 11–12 days ago, Torn was overwhelming at first. My mindset was honestly:

“Okay, this is text-based… finished George’s missions… now what? Why is nothing happening?”

Reaching out in newbie chat is what kept me from quitting early.

I also didn’t even know that lower IDs usually mean older players until after this discussion. I mentioned those players because they helped me repeatedly, not because of rank, items, or status.

That was the entire point of the post.

I never had any intention to offend anyone, still sorry brother if it seems unfair fair to you.

Apologies.

Hey there! I’m fairly new to Torn (29 days, level 23) but very active and serious about long-term growth. I've almost Maxed out the merits for bank interest. I'm open to an investment partnership. The plan would be strictly bank investments, shared profits, and full transparency. Totally understand if anyone doesn't want to. just wanted to reach out respectfully.

As I keep playing, I’m realizing just how overwhelming Torn can be for new players—and how much easier my start was simply because I met helpful, experienced players early on. That was the only point of my post: gratitude.

I never expected this much love on it, especially since I made a few silly mistakes while writing 😅. Instead of negativity, most of you joked around, showed support, and kept it positive—and I genuinely appreciate that. Thank you for the comments and upvotes, even though I don’t feel I deserve them.

PS: Special shout-out to brother (SlickSpades) who pointed out my spelling mistake !

Yes, English isn’t my native language—and yes, I still think I should’ve kept it as “caress” 😂

Go easy on me, guys!

Much love to this community ❤️

🎯 Awareness Awareness Week – What’s Your Best Map Find?

Awareness Awareness Week is honestly one of the most RNG based events in Torn.

👉 My best find so far: A Stash Box & LSD 😅

But for some people this event really proves how powerful Awareness can be — even casually checking the map can turn into free profit...

💡 Quick reminder for everyone:

Check the city map often

Higher Awareness = better item finds

Don’t sleep on “small” items, they add up fast

RNG is wild — newbies and veterans both can win big

Now I’m curious 👇

What’s YOUR best map find this Awareness Week?

Was it:-

💉 Drugs?

💎 High-value items?

🍬 Rare candy?

📦 Something totally unexpected?

Drop your best find in the comments and let’s compare our RNG luck 🍀

Screenshots welcome too!
