Come on and grab your friends, we all love heading to distant lands. Whether you’re traveling to Japan for some cheap Xanax, or the UAE for an adorable plushie, you probably spend half of it wishing the travel times were shorter and the other half wishing you could carry more stuff. You can purchase a large suitcase for a measly 4 additional items, even try taking up a job like a shmuck with low benefits, but chances are you’re a greedy bastard like me and want more.
What I propose is a 4,000 year old tradition from Egypt: the art of Mail.
Every country you should be able to ship purchased objects back to our lovely city of Torn just like you can beyond the digital screen of your moms basement. There would be a limited number of items you can ship, as to keep things fair from druggies buying out entire supplies of product before the little guys get a whiff. 10 items from each market of a country could be shipped back at the players discretion, with items taking the same amount of time as a return flight to arrive in torn. Players would not be able to ship from the same country until the original shipment has been delivered. This could also introduce a system of shipping items to players, who wouldn’t want a lovely box of pcp delivered right to their door? This system would also reduce any unnecessary return flights and allow players to stay abroad for longer.
As for my second proposal, players should be able to travel from one country to the other for reduced travel times. For example, traveling to China would take the usual two and half hours, but you could then travel to Japan for a reduced time of thirty minutes instead of returning to Torn. This would allow the shipping practice to also be more practical, as players could mail items back to Torn then travel with their limited inventory space to other countries. This would also encourage strategic planning of your next smuggling shipment.
How this would look in practice.
A player could travel from Torn to the UAE. There, they buy 15 Camel Plushies and ship 10 home. They then could travel to Switzerland for reduced travel time and purchase an additional 15 plushies, repeating the process of shipping 10 home. They would be unable to ship anymore plushies from any one country home until the mail had delivered the plushies for the allotted “shipping” time. Overall, to be most effective, a player could travel to 3 different countries and ship 3 batches of items back to torn before returning to torn with their own full inventory. This would mean a player could get upwards of 45 items during one travel chain.
