As a firm believer of "holding your tongue" when you have nothing good to say, I do would like to have a word about this topic since the logic behind it seems rather "unlogic" to me.

Seeing players with multiple stacked free resets undermines a system that is supposed to push you down a specific path.

So by pushing us down to a specific I understand that you mean the path we choose ourself by spending the merits how we like to. You want us to push down a specific path and stick with it, but at the same time you want us yearly to use our free reset if we don't want to miss out on the free reset.

10 years ago I choose my path which I still follow to this day. I have 9 free reset, and just because I choose to stick to a path like you want me to, I would have to miss out on a yearly free reset? I don't see how this not contradicts itself.

And honestly, if you've managed to stack that many free resets, then you're not even using the system in the first place...

As a long time player, true. I've been around enough not to really need a new reset. But again, should I be treated differently because I don't need to reset?

Resetting your merits is meant to feel uncomfortable and costly - it should not be something you can do on a whim.

Yes and no.

Yes, because in the current system that should be true as the entire perks board is wiped. So yes, when all perks are wiped clean it should come at a hefty price.

No, because unlike the current system I'm would be highly in favor of having the opportunity to reset each perk individually at a reasonable price (not cheap, no overly expensive), and get rid the the yearly free reset entirely.

TL,DR:

Reset each individual perk at a cost, get rid of yearly free reset
