I am a 43y old guy from Bosnia and Hercegovina, self-employed since 2012 as a digital marketing expert for early stage startups, mostly in the FinTech space.
Happily married and have a 12y old son who is turning to become a gamer like his dad.
I started gaming at a time when I had to be given a stool to use the arcade machine (late 80s) and never quit.
After 20ish years of active CS, CSGO, CS2 play I got fed up of 13y olds calling me names and deleted the game one year ago, since than Ive been focusing mostly on RPGs with Escape from Tarkov and BF6 as shooters I play with my old friends.
As part of my work I spend a ton of time on Reddit, and thats how I found out about Torn.
First couple days it was just a tad interesting, doing Georges starter missions, doing crimes, discovering that you can not just attack people who are billions of stat points above you, figuring out the dos and donts, than after I hit lvl 5 2 major things happend.
1. I met my faction - Bravo Company. 2. Ive discovered the cassino and unlocked poker.
Initially I was selling some losses for starter capital, and had 3m networth, the first day on poker I made that to 53m which felt astronomical.
The 2nd day I was at 200m,...
After that it went downhill

The numbers might look catastrophic to someone, but on the other hand I have not gambled once in real life in that time which makes it a win in my book, since gambling was my stress relief for ages.
Still... not conductive for long term play and I have goals.
I did a few eDVD jumps, and I think Im in a decent spot for a bit more than 30d

The goal is to focus on DEX, STR and SPD as my build, not the least to see who tf mugged me.
Additionally to all the grinding I am also racing daily and try to hit lvl 30 in racing as soon as possible to help in lvl 6 OC.
As for my faction and mates...
God they are awesome.
I feel appreciated and seen when I try my best to help out even with my low stats there are things I can do, like organizing chaining cycles for noobs.
They gave me a massive push in terms of leased PI and a great job position. and they gave me knowledge and tools to succeed. I cant really single out anyone but the people in Bravo Company are becoming fast a 2nd family, and its awesome,
I met some great people, _Solenya_ a great trader and a friend with whom I chat often. Xelphina who steals my pots and Rovokan with whom Im talking shit while playing poker, a bunch other as well in different circumstances.
My mistake was seeing the game as a sprint and not seeing it as a marathon.
The community is mostly absolutely awesome, mature, polite (other than some dirtbags I met on the tables, but these people I ignore), and I think this will be my long term addiction :)
Thank you for making an amazing game, and thank you Bravo Company for having my back.
Kingpinconnor, SlackyDave and Aftermath21 for always having my back and being the voice of reason. _Solenya_ for being an awesome dude and the fastest trader in the west
Never heard about it and I agree to any oenalty which comes through this. Checked the rules on torn and havent seen anything about block avoidance to be honest. But dude kept unblocking me to taunt me when posting a bounty, and I blocked him now for good, no clue how that works out.
Thanks for pointing it out, dsla said it first though, and as I said I was unaware of it.
Thank you, this was spot on and it was my mistake for buying the cheapest item on the market without checking the seller first.
I am not justifying my own stupidity with the actions after the buy mugging or with writing the post on the forum, but it was just the final drop which spilled the barrel in a row of very bad days for me IRL.
As someone who tries to be fair and polite, because I received a lot of fairness and politeness in the game, his behaviour felt abhorrent. Not only mugging, as a regular poker player Im used to it, but harassing me for the better part of the day just went over the top.
But anyway, you are absolutely right and I will make sure to check twice with whom I trade or otherwise interact in the future. For now Ill just take this is a lesson and timeout, because knowing how trolls are, this will not wash away in a day or two.
Was offered recently a position in a much larger faction than mine, but I like that the faction fits my growth and I look forward where the road will take us.
Everyone works with the tools he has. He has 15 years on me and enough passive income to be a prick in game, I have enough money to throw at the problem, because in game terms I am out of options.
