Ok, so I just read more carefully the original post, and I get it now. Sorry for the useless comment :/
I'm not sure to understand the difference between ideal and custom routes. To me, it seems there are texactly the same number of upgrades in each route (easier to see with the D class for instance, all upgrades in ideal route are the same than in custom route)
