Greetings, Torn.
I've spent my first few weeks here quietly observing the rhythms of this city — the faction politics, the market fluctuations, the subtle art of timing your crimes and your training. Rather than flooding Trade Chat with naive questions or rushing into a faction blind, I wanted to open with something substantive.
A hypothesis I'd like to test with the veterans here:
The conventional wisdom for new players seems to be "maximize income immediately, join the biggest faction you can, and grind stats relentlessly." But looking at the long-term compounding mechanics — particularly property ROI, stock market dividends, and the exponential cost of late-game education — I'm wondering if an early-game strategy of restrained spending and selective stat focus actually outperforms the aggressive generalist approach over a 6–12 month horizon.

Specifically:
•  Is there a consensus on the break-even point for prioritizing Endurance training over pure Speed/Strength early on?
•  For those who've run the numbers: how do you value merit allocation between bank interest bonuses versus direct stat gains at sub-100k total stats?
•  Faction-wise — are smaller, tight-knit groups with active mentors actually better for learning game mechanics than massive umbrella factions where you're just a number?

I'm not looking for handouts or a carry. I'm looking for perspective from players who've been here long enough to regret their early decisions.
What do you wish you'd done differently in your first 90 days?

Respectfully,
LePro17
