TLDR
Two player card game. 20 card decks. Win by hitting 0 life, or by banking 10 energy, 10 nerve, or $10. Looking for balance notes, card ideas, an artist (no AI), and someone to help build a basic site (battler, deck editor, packs, login page ect.).
This is a rough draft. Tell me what’s bad, whats good, or if this idea just sucks! If you want to help with art or the site, PM me!

NOTE:

THIS SERVICE IS NOT GAMBLING, YOU WILL EARN POINTS THRU EVENTS I HOST IN GAME, OR WINNING GAMES TO BUY MORE PACKS. AT NO POINT WILL I "CHARGE" ANYONE, ANYTHING TO PLAY THE GAME!!

Rules

Each player uses a 20-card deck. You may put at most 2 copies of any card in a deck. If a player runs out of cards their discard pile is shuffled and becomes their deck.

How to win

You win if any one of these happens:

• Your opponent’s life is 0 or less
• You have 10 or more energy
• You have 10 or more nerve
• You have $10 or more

If a player’s life hits 0, they lose right then, even in the middle of combat.

The 10 energy, 10 nerve, and $10 wins are checked each time any of their values are changed.

Starting the game

Each player starts with:

• 16 life
• 0 energy
• 0 nerve
• $0

Shuffle your deck. The first player draws 4 cards. The second player draws 5 cards. No attacks on first turn.

Resources

Life, energy, nerve, and cash stay from turn to turn. They do not reset.

• Life only goes down whn you get hit by an attacker that is unblocked, or by a cards effect.
• You gain 2 energy at the start of your turn. Spend energy to attack and block.
• You gain 2 nerve at the start of your turn. Spend nerve to play support cards.
• You gain $2 at the start of your turn. Spend cash to play creature cards.

Card types

Attackers cost cash. They stay in play until they are destroyed. Each Attacker has Power and Grit.

• Power is the damage it deals in combat.
• Grit is how much damage it can take in one fight before it dies.

Creatures enter play ready. When a creature attacks or blocks, it becomes spent. Spent creatures ready again at the start of your next turn. A spent creature cannot attack or block.

Supports cost nerve.

• An Impulse is a one-shot card. Play it, do what it says, then put it in your discard. They may be played at any time.
• A Hold card stays in play attached to an attacker until the attacker is destroyed, or held card is destroyed by an effect.

Impulses may be played during combat and on your opponent’s turn. Held cards must be played on your own turn.

Turn order

1. Ready all of your spent creatures.
2. Gain 2 energy, 2 nerve, and $2. Then check if you have 10 energy, 10 nerve, or $10.
3. Draw 1 card. The first player skips this draw on turn 1.
4. Play cards. You may play as many as you can pay for.

• Pay a creature’s cash cost to put it into play. It enters ready.
• Pay a support’s nerve cost to play it.
• Once per turn you may hustle: discard 1 card from your hand and gain $1, 1 Nerve, 1 energy, or 1 life.

      5. Combat, if you want to attack.

      6. Play more cards if you can still pay for them.

      7. Clear leftover combat damage from surviving creatures. Pass the turn.

Combat

Choose any number of ready creatures and pay 1 energy for each attacker. Those creatures become spent and are attacking.

The defender may block with ready creatures. Pay 1 energy for each blocker.

Each blocker can block only one attacker. More than one blocker may block the same attacker.

After blockers are chosen, React cards may be played. The defender goes first, then the attacker, then back and forth until both players pass.

Then damage happens.

• An unblocked attacker deals its Power to the defending player’s life.
• A blocked attacker and its blockers deal Power to each other at the same time.
• If several blockers are on one attacker, the attacking player splits that attacker’s Power among those blockers.
• If a creature is dealt damage equal to or greater than its Grit in that fight, it dies and goes to its owner’s discard, along with any cards attached to it.
• If a creature lives, its leftover damage is wiped at the end of the turn. Damage does not stay on it.

That’s the rough draft!

I’m only one person looking at this so I know I’m missing a lot. If something feels unbalanced, too slow/fast, too strong/weak, tell me.

If you’ve got card ideas throw those in too.

I’m also looking for help with two things.

An artist. I want the finished cards to stay simple like the concepts, just a bit more detailed. Line work, stick figures, clean icons. I don’t want AI art in the end product. If that sounds like you and you wanna try a card or two, post here or PM me and we can talk about it!.

A web person. I have zero talent here. What I want is pretty small. A place to fight, a deck editor, and booster packs so you can pull cards. If you’ve built something like that and you’re open to talking about it, reply or PM and we can talk about it!.

It’s honestly crazy when you think about how much effort players collectively put into this event with zero promise of a reward beyond bragging rights and a few merits.

I wish there was a way to measure the total amount of time and resources spent on this event. 

Also the amount of time, money, and resources players pour into this event makes it feel more like a massive money sink than a fun event for everyone involved. And look, 24,000 people signed up. That seems pretty clear to me that players want more events like this.

This thread is for some extra community driven rewards during the event. It seems like some people feel the rewards aren't quite enough for the effort they're putting in, so I thought it'd be cool to try to add to the rewards for the event.

My rewards obviously aren't going to make anyone rich, but hopefully we can have some fun with it.
