I just finished "I Who Have Never Known Men" yesterday and I very much enjoyed it. It's a stream of consciousness novella about a group of women (and a girl, but she grows up eventually) who are confined in a bunker for reasons they don't understand. SPOILERS NOW Even after their eventual escape they find themselves left on a desolate and foreign landscape that they can only agree is not Earth. They try their best to survive and understand why things are the way they are. It ends very open ended, but I enjoyed the ideas of personhood the novella plays with (namely the idea of what it means to be a person without the social roles of society, men being the stand in in a way) despite the almost bio-essentialist lense it can take at times. Overall, probably between a 4-4.5/5!
I'm start 'The Long Walk' by Richard Bauchman AKA Stephen King now.
