About 5 years ago or so, when I first started playing again, someone from my faction pm-ed me asking if I would like to buy some torn cash. I said no of course (see my very boring networth chart), but I did not report them.
Seeing that I am a member of Monarch, I believe that I am an easy target for being fedded. I would like to avoid being hit with some abetting charges randomly some time down the road, so I would like to report this person who offered to RMT.
However, it has been a long time, and I have since forgotten who this person was. Could this person please pm me, so that I can report you? Thanks :)
@admins: I think this happened when I was in dopeheads on mopeds, but I do not remember.
It has been slightly over 3 years since Stocks 3.0 was released. In the release notes, we see Chedburn mentioning that stocks will go up about 10% a year:
- Stock prices are expected to increase by an average of 10% per year; however, there are no guarantees. Some stocks can be incredibly volatile, doubling within a month or crashing significantly.
Over the past 3 years, stocks have gone up by an average of ~24% in total. Here is a list of the stocks that give monetary returns:

However, a consequence of the prices of stocks going up, is that the yearly ROI on the stocks go down, since stock BBs cost more, but give the same. As you can see, the average ROI of all the stocks has gone down by approximately the same percentage. The yearly ROI has dropped 17% from 33.91% to 28.31%. This means that it will take you about 17% longer to make back the money you had originally invested compared to 3 years ago.
In terms of early/mid game investing, here is a chart of the cumulative ROI, given how much money you're investing in stocks. (I included only the stocks above, as well as SYM2, the lines go further to the right if you include the other stock levels) [image: i.ibb.co] So if you've invested 10b in stocks, you would have been getting ~37% returns per year in 2021, but now, you would only be getting ~32% returns per year.
As more and more time passes, the ROI of all of the stocks will only keep getting worse, and this means that it will take newer players much longer to build the same networth through stocks. In my personal opinion, it feels weird that the prices of stocks go up, but I as a passive investor can never make full use of it, since if I sell the stock, I lose my BBs. Perhaps the number shares required for a benefit block should decrease over time? I dunno.
TLDR: Stock prices go up, which means ROIs go down. Everyone makes less money per unit of money. Maybe change something to fix?
The dream of any torn player is to one day chug a ton of stat enhancers, and become a stat megazord. However, people frequently allude to waiting until one hits the "SE cap" before doing so, the point in which SEs become more financially efficient than cans.
Over the course of the last few years, a massive influx of cans has come into torn, mostly through Halloween (and somewhat through Christmas town). This has led to a historic low in can prices. 15e Cans, which are the ones I consume regularly, have now hit a low of ~770k each. This has led me to wonder, how much battlestats would I have to have, before stat enhancers become more efficient than 15e cans?
Traditionally, when people talk about the SE cap, they refer to the battlestat point in which SEs become more efficient than 30e cans. This is usually a good enough approximation, even for the cheaper 5-25e cans too based on the old gym formula, but the new exponential gym gain formula, along with very low prices, have caused cheaper cans to be more cost efficient than SEs up to 250b battlestats.
SE cap as a function of can price
We plot the tradeoff point with respect to the price of the can. We assume that each SE is 450m, that we have the standard gym bonuses, 5025 happy, training in a 50e speciality gym, with 19% steadfast.
This is not shown in the above graph, but at the current price per 5e can of ~220k, SEs become more efficient than 5e cans at ~250b bs. In other words, so long as you have less than 250b in the stat, it is more cost efficient to consume 5e cans over stat enhancers. This would of course take forever before you made any real gains, but is the tradeoff point.
For 15e cans, the tradeoff at the current price of ~770k is at ~30b bs. 15e cans are more reasonably affordable for the mid-game player, costing only ~9.3m/day. You also make some progress towards SEs, making 1 SE's worth of gains every ~1-2 months.
30e can prices have been relatively stable, and the SE cap is currently at around 3.7b
SE cap over the years
As the can prices drop year to year, the SE cap for 15e cans increases steadily. At the current price of ~770k, the 15e SE cap is at 30b. This has led me to wonder if I will ever hit the 15e SE cap. Here is a plot of the 30e SE cap, along with my dexterity, my highest stat.
As you can see, since the 30e can price is relatively stable, the SE cap has not changed by too much, and I am now finally around the 30e can SE cap.
However, I am very far from the 15e can SE cap. Even when the price plateaus over the summer, the fact that the can price drops year to year after Halloween, means that I may not hit the 15e can SE cap even after several more years.
TLDR: Cheap cans are very cost efficient, and everyone should use them off booster cd. Cheap cans + Exponential gym gains --> Cans are still more cost efficient than SEs, even at very high battlestat levels.
This is not inconsistent with what I’m saying. You always have the ability to train in the gym, so that’s a lower bound on what E is worth. The conclusion from my post isn’t “cans are cheap, go train in the gym and gain stats with them”, the conclusion is more like “cans are so cheap, that EVEN IF you do the least you could with it, and use them in the gym it is probably worth it even up to massive stat levels”

I don’t think this analysis is really quite right, I think you should be dividing by the amount of man days it takes to run each OC, adjusting for shorter times when the OC fails.
Using your numbers:
Stacking the Deck (79.099%)
Ace in the Hole (69.891%)
Manifest Cruelty (76.329%)
Gone Fission (58.795%)
Crane Reaction (51.355%)
For the StD -> AitH chain:
20.901% of the time, we fail StD, and we spend 10 man days (4+3+2+1) to get nothing
23.81% of the time, we succeed in StD, but fail AitH, spending 25 man days for nothing
55.28% of the time, we succeed in both StD and AitH, obtaining 462m in expectation, again spending 25 man days
In expectation, we spend 22.91 man days, for 0.5528* 462m profit, giving us 11.147m per person per day.
For the MC -> GF -> CR chain:
23.67% of the time, we fail MC, spending 10 man days to get nothing
31.31% of the time, we succeed in MC, but fail GF, spending 25 man days to get nothing
21.83% of the time, we succeed in both MC and GF, but fail CR, spending 46 man days, to get nothing
23.04% of the time, we spend 46 man days, to get 1321m profit
This gives us in expectation, 30.9 man days, to get 23.04% of 1321m in expected profit, netting us 9.84m per person per day in expectation.
So in conclusion, yes, the new chain is worse, but it is only ~12% worse, and it is not nearly as bad as people put it(barring liquidity concerns) Maybe in time once people have more crime skill it becomes better
