Myanmar, also known as Burma, was ruled by the armed forces until 2011, when democratic reforms spearheaded by Aung San Suu Kyi ended military rule.
She spent nearly 15 years in detention between 1989 and 2010. She was internationally hailed as a beacon of democracy and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.In the early hours of Monday the army's TV station said power had been handed over to commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing.
Ms Suu Kyi and other leaders of her National League for Democracy (NLD) were arrested.

I am a doctor, a dentist, living in mandalay, Myanmar. Almost all doctors in myanmar involve in Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
At day time, we are protesters. At night time, we become security guards for our own because police and soldiers are kidnapping citizens and creating arsons lol (like in Torn).Most of my doc friends have to hide from them. WTF Min Aung Hlaing. you should deserve to die !

The Myanmar Army tried to kill Aung San Suu Kyi. But She survived an assassination attempt in the 2003 Depayin massacre when at least 70 people associated with the NLD were killed.
I think this time Min Aung Hlaing is massacring NLDs politically.
As soon as the military coup successed at 2am local time, the army took all of National Covid care fund (by force)
