Recently I tried to submit an article to the newspaper, I found that players cannot any longer do this, that they first have to become a reporter. The issue is that there is an honor bar for having an article accepted into the newspaper. Under the current system this is no longer possible without become a reporter. One could argue to just get rid of the said honor, but that would be rather unfair to those who have earned it in years past, yet the current method is unfair to those wishing to earn it now.
I propose an editorial page be added to the newspaper, a link on the front page that leads to it, where normal, nonreporter players can submit articles and stories, whereby a reporter then checks for simple spelling, flaming/abuse etc, and then accepted and an honor earned.
I believe that besides satisfying those going for said honor, that this would add a depth and color to the newspaper that it currently lacks. It could be something more to read during flights or after major torn events giving other insights or opinions that otherwise would have remained unknown, it could also be used to judge future reporters by their own submissions here.
Edit: Additional Suggestions/Amendments Handsomepants: Implement a limit of submissions over a given time period to keep workload manageable for reporters/staff.
Spades: Implement a small group of editors to sift through submissions for approval/rejection and to be passed on to a staff for final approval.
I think the tale of this elimination competition going from unpleasant at best to an F5 dumpster fire starts when Clansdancer retired.
First we had the Midknight fed/Marc quitting debacle, whether you agreed with what happened or not, what came from that was Ched taking the reigns himself to become acting Community Manager, where previously he had stated in some bug/issue threads that "I dont even play the game so I don't know" type of shit.
I'm not bitching, I could really careless personally, but to hear about everyone else's bitching, well goddamn. Has torn ever been so negative and toxic in the past? Not that I can recall.
The competition should have just been rerolled at the start, instead we get a change to how scoring works and PP starts to manhandle everyone when before the scores stayed relatively neck and neck, and to counter PP what does ched do? Flips the switch on duke to go god mode on folks for changing sex, which isnt against the rules, a bit unsporty sure, but not feddable or illegal by any means, shit you have to do it for stripclub jobs.
Best option would be to stop the current elimination, give some notice, reroll teams, and let them have a 24 hr king of the hill free for all, no point deductions, whoever is top at the end, wins, simple and next year try not to screw the pooch again, hell, maybe even give folks a free 5 tokens for putting up with it all.
AND THEN.....find yourself a community manager that can see the forest from the tree's, cause trying to Duke it out aint earning ya any points and you're obviously incapable of managing shit yourself much less a community worth of shit.
2 people with as close to 18k endurance or manual or more, active once a day or so, that rehabs every now and then, as long as you dont drop in efficiency I could really care less how often you rehab.
What I offer:
100k a day, a dp at the end of every month as a loyalty bonus while we rank up and a bonus for ranking up that I've yet to determine, it depends on how generous the game is to me and so forth, but it will be significant.
In general I am not a fan of the "don't attack staff" for doing their job rule as beside obvious situations, determining one's motives isnt clear cut. However I do recall this being a big issue in the past due to Dekloren and I believe Ched himself warned him off, though the forum search feature is aids and I cant be bothered to look so just going off memory. That said, he's been warned in the past, apparently even today, kept doing it, got fed.
