Not really cheating, more like "cheating-light" AKA exploiting a flaw.
It wasn't really "fair", but its possible the other teams may have been able to adjust. That didn't really happen with most of the "9000" generally going anti-PP.
But now? Overreaction.
I've been on the other end of the exploit / last minute change train many times here in Torn. It sucks. Most of the people in PP have been traditional opponents, but still I feel for y'all. I've been there, spending days or weeks pouring E/meds/drinks/FHCs into something only to have it snatched away at the last minute by technicalities or rules changes.
As to possible solutions:
1) Limit the number of Duke attacks per hour to 10-20% of current rate.
2) Allow PP to fight back vs Duke more effectively.
3) Take Duke off a team.
4) Halt attacks from hospital.
5) Stop Duke attacks entirely 2-8 hrs before elimination hour to allow "fightback".
6) Take PP out of the competition totally, but give them a consolation prize equal to 2nd place "for being sneakily effective".
The fairness pendulum has swung wildly, maybe more gradual adjustments are better than throwing dynamite. It never feels good when the rules change in the middle of a game. But if you open that door, at least offer SOME type of compensation to the injured parties.
For whatever its worth, I've had Dude on my BL and attack him occasionally. I'm disinclined to agree with anything he says.
However, before I got to page 2 I'd already +1'd this thread.
Nobody is saying this is the equivalent of the casting couch, but sometimes even the appearance of bias is enough to poison the well. Maybe you should make an exception and make both of you guys, "Co-winners".
Most people don't want to dim your enthusiasm Bogie, but maybe a staff only bracket would be good for next year?
Some people can empathize with another's view point, or at least concede it exists. Others cuss, insult mothers and view friendly biases exclusively.
I'm just asking here: If four factions attack JFA's two. Some of those faction members have at least 10 times the stats of any JFA. You wouldn't complain a bit? If that's true, why the complaints about any others helping IBB? Don't you want a tough... heck, even CLOSE to evenly balanced fight?

I get JFA's point. I think many people, including people in Insurgency, weren't aware of the timing involved. I was just being an a&&hole. But I can't violate a rule that hadn't been made yet.
Whatever I do I'm creating a hassle for someone, and it was mostly unforeseen. In a way, I'm honored I'm seen as much of a threat.
Ultimately I'm keeping my word to Leaf and crew. Changing the rules retroactively upon the demands of enemies to IBB (and Insurgency) seems inappropriate.
If a new law comes in 2020, I'll likely follow it, but not till 2020.
It all comes down to the timing.

I don't disagree with much of what you say Mike. But I'd actually told Leaf I'd help if anyone attacked them BEFORE anyone attacked. I wanted to keep my word.
Secondly: There was no memo by the time I'd left SA, it came after.
I get what you are saying, I even get what JFA was saying. I wish they'd left out the threats, the comments about forcing things into my butt and having sex with my mother. But still I get it.
I decided to keep my word to IBB and Leaf. I've worked hard, but I don't think I'll change the outcome of the war by myself. There are people with 10-15 times my stats I can't even scratch.
It depends on the circumstances. I'm an alum of IBB from a long while back. You are already an alum for quite a few more factions, right?
If you want an excuse to do something you wish to do anyhow, I've provided it. But really had more to do with IBB, and less to do with JFA. If it weren't me, it would have been another pretext.
I'd think the DB was more of an Archduke Ferdinand. I'm a honored you'd think the hundreds of people of Insurgency are pinning their hopes and dreams on me.
But really: I'm a mid-range player that didn't think I needed permission to help some old friends. I've joined the wall a zillion times, but is my 10-28 damage per hit on you really that threatening? You and Deft, to whom I do zero, have been sitting on me pretty decisively through much of the war.
The point of war is usually, but not always, to win.
To frame it higher: The point of most games is enjoyment. Even if its a difficult battle, it would have been worse without the DB. Along with the frustrations and setbacks, there has been a ton of lols and roflcopters. I had laughs with some JFA people this week. Surprising, I know!
I've been hospitalized probably 200-300 times in the last three days.
