edit: Thank you everyone that reached out to wish me the best of luck. The current update is that I need to sell off my RW weapons in order to get refunded money, since they don't have an in-game networth value, but of course they do have value....

Torn/Bogie is willing to refund me on my RW weapons sales and refund up to a month of payments, so I'm selling off my inventory.

Dear Torn community,

I have been a part of this game for a long time now, but I must regretfully announce that I am quitting.

Most notably over the past few months, I have developed a gambling addiction that has taken a heavy toll on my finances to say the least. In total, I have spent over $20,000 on donators packs, which I have sold in the pawn shop in order to buy ranked war caches on the item market and open them. I have ADHD, and I believe that the dopamine hit from opening something nice was just too much for me to resist.

I have come to the realization that the only way to stop this destructive behavior is to leave this game entirely. I cannot risk falling back into this addiction, and I need to take steps to protect myself from it.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who have been great to me during my time here. I have made many friends and have had many fun experiences in this game, but it is time for me to move on. I hope that you will all continue to enjoy Torn and that you will be mindful of the risks of gambling addiction.

For those that are in a similar situation, I urge you to do the same.

Hello all, this has been a wild ride for me accepting my addiction, trying to quit Torn, and recouping whatever cash I can.

Total Sold: $48,194,800,006 (assuming I didn't mess up calculations)

I'm quitting Torn, discussing with my Therapist this upcoming week, and refusing to put myself in any situation that can put me in a similar situation. Ex. No casinos, no lottery scratch offs, no games with loot boxes/caches

Even after I commented stating my edit date/time, he doubled down. To top it off, he was about to buy something from my sell post and then I realized it was him.

Only thing I can say about the doubling down is that maybe he didn't read it yet before posting

No need to get so defensive because you're mistaken about the situation.

You didn't read the edit on the first post, did you?

The ONLY reason I logged back on and am active, is to sell of my RW weapons in order to determine a reasonable refund. That's it.

I do think it'd be much worse to see on a new account than an older and active player. This isn't something older and active players are likely to try and abuse. It's simply not worth the risk.

I have a lot of people hoping I come back, but I know I need to delete this account and not look back. I think if anyone who is in my situation continued to play after accepting they have an addiction, would only hurting themselves further even if they can hold themselves back somehow from opening caches/buying donator packs (in the short term).

Even if I didn't delete my account, it wouldn't be touched (logged in) for years.

Update: all Red weapons sold, and of course many other weapons. For those that want to know the prices sold on some of the bigger items:

It started off with "I'll just do it for a few caches", hence my smaller purchases a few months back. Then it came up again where I wanted to do it again, and the prices continued to increase. I funded opening caches at times through my stocks, as well as re-selling of other RW weapons/armor. I wound up selling one weapon for over 20b, which allowed me to open a lot more. Then it got worse and worse. I know how it appears with purchases, but it was over a few months that I've opened many hundreds of caches (possibly reached 1,000... but I'm not going to count)

That's fair, but I know some people like being private and it is what it is. I'm always willing to share who bid through a private chat with an image showing it if asked. Anyone who has ever traded with me because it has happened numerous times throughout my trades) has been able to ask me to show them the proof of the bid, and I do so.

I WILL be closing my account when all is said and done.

As far as this situation, I don't know if it should be a case by case basis, but I do think I should be Fedded, for my own sake, and for Torn.


For years I enjoyed Torn without spending any money, and then I became a subscriber and enjoyed that. I was never one to put money into a game when I didn't have to. I never saw myself becoming this person that I hear about happening in others games with loot boxes, where they spend ridiculous amounts of money. Litterally the saddest part is the biggest reason I spent more money recently to open more caches, is because selling RW weapons takes time and I "needed" the cash now to open more.

Everyone will have their feelings about the situation, and it is what it is. I acknowledge my lack of self control, and I'm also someone who doesn't know to what extent Torn should have to do anything for people like me.

I've had some emails with him, and messaged him on Torn today.

He stated he can refund up to 1 month, which is a large chunk of when it went real bad. The thing is, he refunded what he could up until my Networth was $0. The issue is I have a lot of RW weapons with no value until sold, so I'm doing that to determine what he can refund.

This was the case for me. Stocks were too slow, so when I got addicted to opening caches, I sold every single stock and bought caches to open instead. Just some food for thought.

I'm getting nowhere near a full refund. I know my addiction issue isn't all of Torn to blame.

I do wish Torn implemented a way to exclude yourself from purchasing Donator Packs (not necessarily subbing), and/or opening caches.


I remember trying to find it and only finding the Casino exclusion. I then went back and bought more Donator packs since I really couldn't help myself. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, and that's why I posted it.

Sounds good to me. Trade sent. Sorry, busy with real life stuff as well, could be slow to do trades/respond.

Plus, I prefer not to go on Torn if I don't have to.
