I find this whole thread disguisting. I am a parent of a special needs child, so....
@ReyDuvall, your explaination of giving yourself the right to disrespect my daughter is an insult to not only to her but my husband and I. Society has never spent one penny on her, as she doesn't receive a disability check, medicaid or any other "governmental" assistance. We as parents provide it all for her.
@Wollongong, apparently you haven't seen what progress the education system has accomplished. Children in Special Education do learn how to use the computer on a very basic level. The teacher was astounded that my daughter didn't need any instruction. My daughter knows exactly how to turn on her personal computer, put in her password and get on the internet. As for forming sentences, she uses her iPad with an application, that WE paid for, to spell out sentences and commute with those who don't understand her speech.
For those who said that special needs don't understand words, well.........One day my daughter wanted to go to Chik-Fil-A for lunch. I told her we had to watch our pennies because of her brother's up coming wedding. She proceeded to get her purse, pull out her wallet and show me that she had some money and that she could get lunch for herself.
And lastly @DUDE, don't think I am your new friend. I won't ever be your friend as you purposely used the special needs community in an effort to gain pity and sympathy for yourself and your faction.
It's sad to see humanity stoop so low that in order to feel good about themselves that they must use any/all negative words against another person.
