You don't need to have very high stats to be successful at mugging, you just need to know where to hunt and what tools to bring. Sadly, the art of mugging isn't very appreciated.
I don't consider buy-mugging to be an art, since you need to force your ideal scenario to happen; sort of like hunting in a controlled environment. But, everyone has their own path to follow.
Twice, I've mugged people that I've purchased from and didn't like how it made me feel, so I found methods that enabled me to take pride in what I do. I feel that I have done pretty well for myself, considering my puny stats. I've taken a break to train a bit because the territory war is going to be released soon.
Mugging is hard work and is an honest way to earn a living. Not everyone agrees with my opinion, but they don't need to. I play for myself and not for them.
Keep up the good work and don't let setbacks stop you from achieving your goal.
While legally torn can be closed at any moment without any notice, I don't think it would happen as things are.
I seriously doubt that ched is doing it solely for the dinero; he doesnt have much left after all the expenses. You won't see him driving round in a Bently or TVR if u see him in rl.
Some people actually enjoy creating or working on stuff that will make people have fun..
The fact that he is able to turn a profit from it is a bonus: how much time would he have to put in torn if he had to work 40hr week just to cover rent and keep food in his fridge? It also enables him to pay decent salary to the people that work with him.
While I was in highschool, a buddy helped me get a server going for a private game that we played. There were about 30ish active players and everything was 100% free. I would put in countless hours after school to design the map, script quests, fix bugs or game weaknesses, conflict resolution, etc... I didnt mind all the long hours of work because it was all worth it when u see and hear the excitement and see the players in awe when u release new quests or various content. It becomes addictive and u need to work harder every time to outdo yourself and keep your players on the edge of their seats.
The feedback and emotions u get from the players is what keeps u going; sort of like when rock stars keep playing the same songs tour after tour, running just on the high they get from seeing the crowd going wild. The wilder the fans get during the show, the more energy you have and give back... A symbiotic relationship.
Eventually, I had no more time to put into the game and had to close it down. Between highschool, after school job and trying to have a life, there was just no more time to give to the game or the players. Things were deteriorating, players got bored of same old content, leading to the closure of the server.
As we get older, we have less and less time. The day is over before you even realise that it has begun. We all have to earn our living.
Try to remember that Ched, dev team, staff, mods, helpers are all actual human beings with their own lives and problems, just like the rest of us. Have a little heart and understanding.

I feel that you are being unreasonable to expect a specific amount from an auction, and even more so for putting pressure on Ched.
From the bidder's response, he had bid at least a day beforehand and held that bid. If people were waiting last moment to bid just to save some dinero: tough titty. If you want certainty, you bid in advance. If you want risk, you bid last moment. Extra reward comes with extra risk.
Sort of like when a stock starts rising, if you want to make a sure small profit, you sell right then. If you want to get more, you wait for it to rise more. But, it can also crash. So if someone was hoping to 'snipe' the best moment to sell stocks and the plan backfires, would it be reasonable for them to ask for compensation for them taking the risk to make more profit?
I've used the auction house in the past, didn't like the prices I got, changed methods until I found a solution I like.

My reply might seem heartless but that is how I feel about your situation.
Internet addictions are often synonymous to avoidance problems; you generally tend to get addicted to anything that diverts your attention from the issues that weigh in your life. It is a reactive lifestyle and it is very hard to break it's cycle, even though you know that it is affecting you negatively.
But it is not impossible: emotional intelligence goes a long way to make you realise why you do what you do and why you feel the way you feel. The first step to solving or correcting a problem is identifying it. Once you put a name to your demon; you have the means to battle it. And battle is a proper term because it is not easy nor fast, you basically need to rehabilitate or rewire your brain from reacting a certain way; you need to create new neurons, make new connections and associations. Everything you do or don't do reinforces itself in your brain.
The first step is the hardest: admitting to yourself that what you're doing or the way that you're living is impacting you or your surrounding in a way that doesn't make you happy. The second step is wanting change.
I think that you already took the first and second steps by asking for advice/tools; and for that I congratulate you.
There will always be those that will try to ridicule your attempts at rebuilding yourself into the person you want to be. It is hard to always ignore them, but try to remember that most people don't like it when someone is trying to empower themselves; it leaves those that laugh at you behind while you progress. Years later, those people will still be in the same spot they are while you've faced some of your problems and gained the confidence and motivation to keep facing more of them as they appear throughout your life.
Its why often people that made fun of you in highschool end up being more miserable when you see them several years later. You moved on and expanded your mind while they stayed in their comfort zone.
I think that the mugee feels like they are retaliating in some way or it is meant to be as a deterrent. Like having the last word?
I haven't been mugging actively for a while, but there is this one guy I mugged while full e overseas and he put bounties on me. It was a dispropotional response, maybe other people mugged him before and he took it out on me.
They would spend 5-6m a day just on bounties. I kept on mugging them once a day for the past year and half and constantly get 1.5m on avg.
The bounties didn't cause me issues, i am not active enough to max medical cooldown. Mainly login, use e and nerve and logout. I did get my defend merits thanks to the bounties.
The guy ended up saying he would stop bounties if I stopped mugging. I never responded to him and I still mug him once a day when I see him in torn. The bounties stopped 2 months ago.
I used a lottery voucher. (the only i had) i got confirmation message. (received 100 tokens, might get lucky) i went to casino and it shows i have 0 tokens. i looked in items and lottery voucher is gone.
I havent tried the desktop version but I really dont like the mobile version.
What I dislike about is that I have to slide left or right to find where I want to go. I wouldn't mind it as much if I could choose which ones appear first.
Basically, I liked the old bar better because I had acces to every page at all time, there was no need to search for the button, it was visible from the start.
For me the most important buttons are: home, event, gym, crimes, items, propriety, faction,
Id suggest that instead of reverting back, find ways to allow people to customize their bar, or premake several templates to fit different playstyles. Since we all play torn differently, other areas are more important to other players.
You can't please everyone, let them please themselves by giving them the freedom to do so.

Found how to change the order, now its not so bad.
id say that my best decision was learning to let go, making peace with my past, forgiving those that have harmed me and most of all forgiving myself.
It allowed me to get around the lamppost that stood in my way, making it possible to move on and find peace & happiness.
Drugs, alcohol and othet dysfunctional behaviour were all manageable once I was able to face myself and cut off the anchor that petrified me while the waters just kept on rising.
Something like: "hey, look, you are vulnerable"? or something more like : "you go after me, we go after you", "mess with my business, I mess with your" ?
Woah, that's intense. Have you reported that incident to staff?

Ched has been making changes and putting his foot down on some controversial issues, some resistance was bound to happen. I just hope that Ched has been expecting it and wasn't hoping that everyone would go along happily.
I agree that Torn isn't known enough to be a target for real hackers or professional groups. Simply, it is not worth their time or effort. It is why I think that this is something personal.
In this day and age where people go to jail or get fined for torrenting, hacktivism and other 'lesser cybercrimes', not many people would take the risk just for fun or because they are bored.
In Ched's announcement, he stated: "We played a game of cat and mouse blocking individual vectors which worked for short periods of time, with the attacker picking new approaches"
Which leads me to believe that if it was someone doing it for fun, they would have cut and run the moment that there was a fight response. Someone who has personal motives would stay and keep doing as much dmg out of spite.
Ched's decision of moving to a third party host is a the only logical response and any 'cybercriminal' worth their salt would have been able to predict that move and find ways around it. Most likely, Ched hired professional company that specialises in DDoS protection and tracking. Now what remains is to see what will be Ched's legal response.
But I could be totally off base... We often see what we want to see, and we find proof to support our version of what happened :p
I don't know if it is a coincidence that Torn got targeted shortly after the RMT crackdown. I imagine that losing RL income could make some people angry to the point of going for vengeance. DDoS atks are often very personal...

Myself, I tend to go for the non organic stuff due to money constraints, student budgets don't leave too much wiggle room. But, I do notice a difference in taste, especially in celery and baby carrots... Duno if it is a placebo effect cause I know that they're supposed to taste better.
